DEFINITION OF KEY TERMS:

Inclusive assessment: Evaluates learners fairly, removing barriers and promoting equal
opportunities.Ensures equity and accessibility for all.

Formative Assessment is ongoing evaluation during learning to guide progress.

Summative Assessment is the final evaluation after learning to measure achievement.

LEARNING AREA: AGRICULTURE

LEARNING TOPIC: PLANTS

LEARNING OUTCOME:

Learners will be able to:

*To develop positive attitude towards Agriculture and it's study as a science

*to develop environmental awareness and actively participate in conservation projects within the school
in their community

*To acquire and use scientific knowledge in managing agricultural actives sustainably

OBJECTIVES

*Learners should be able to use scientific principles skills and sustainable agricultural practices solve
agricultural challenges in their communities

ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES

FORMATIVE

Weekly test-- learners will write end of week tests until the topic is done

Daily home work--learners will write daily homework which helps to identify areas needing extra time

Class discussion which enhances engagement and participation

Presentations which helps to develop learner's confidence

Daily written work which helps to identify areas needing extra support

SUMMATIVE
Oral presentations --learners will prepare and deliver a presentation on a specific topic demonstrating
their understanding and communication skills

Project-Based Assessment--students complete a project that demonstrates their understanding of a


topic. This could involve creating a poster, a model, or a digital presentation which encourages creativity
and application of knowledge in a real-world context.

Written Tests --A traditional method where students answer questions on paper, including multiple-
choice, short answer, and essay questions and it provides a straightforward way to assess knowledge
and understanding of specific content areas.

Performance Task--Students perform a task that showcases their skills and knowledge, such as a science
experiment, a dramatic reading, or a math problem-solving session and this engages students in hands-
on learning and allows teachers to assess practical application of skills.

Portfolio Assessment-- Students compile a portfolio of their work over a unit or semester, including
assignments, tests, and reflections and it offers a comprehensive view of student progress and learning
growth over time, encouraging self-reflection.

BENCH MARK

On formative if a learner gets 5 out of 10 it's a pass and if a learner gets 4 and below it's a fail

On summative if a learner gets 50%and above it's a pass,and if a learner gets below 40% its a fail.

EVALUATION

The Grade 4 Agriculture formative assessment plan worked well. It used a mix of class discussios, daily
home work, group work, daily tests, and projects to check learners' understanding of plants.Some
learners failed to reach 5 out 10 but others scored 10 out of 10.The plan made sure all learners could
participate.On summative some learners did well and above 50 % while others where below 40%.The
evaluation criteria were clear and measured what learners were supposed to learn. Overall, the
assessment plan was effective and helped facilitator understand what learners knew and didn't know.
