Sociology is the Scientific study of human social behavior, relationships and institutions within the

societies whereas a social worker is a skilled professional who advocate for human rights, social justice
and policy change to benefit the marginalized population. The definitions above clearly shows that
sociology is crucial to a social worker .sociology is a mirror that reflects the operational of societal
institutions, structures in response to the human behavior among different social perspectives. Thus
acknowledge a social worker to network and analyze the root of social problems which occasionally
leads to the implementation of social policy, social justice, social reconstruction, advocacy for human
right to mention a few.

To commence with sociological landscape of gender to a social worker reflects gender disparity such as
gender inequality, oppression, discrimination. Gender discrimination is visible when hiring a person for a
job ,the employer forget to look at competence of a potential employee at a certain task, Lorber
(1994,p.199).Its unfortunately even if a woman get a position in a certain field are again exploited to
cultural biases within the professional which lead to the patterns of attrition, (Carrol et al,2016).From
the given above evidence social worker advocates for gender balance ,gender laws and gender equality.
Henceforth sociology is crucial to a social worker .

In addition, sociological concept on culture unveil to many cultural biases ,assumptions and beliefs
which leads to cultural Hagemony, (Gramsci 1929-1935).The dominance of inferior cultures by those
regard their culture as superior greatly undermine cultural authenticity (Freud 1913)on totems and
taboo .Therefore one can question the deterioration of cultures, thereby so doing a social worker found
playing a pivotal role in fostering cultural sensitive policy to promote well being and heritage .

To addmore ,sociological case studies has opened many biases circulate the educational
sector.Education was once a bottleneck system that left behind minority group who failed to have
excess to tertiary education due to poverty and beliefs. A girl child was totally discriminated right for
education ( Hooks 1981).On this juncture (Dewey 1859-1952)advocated for democracy in education.
From the given about view social workers play a significant role in what so called education for all. Also
coordinate with the government and non government agencies to do away with system barriers.
Henceforth sociology is essential to social workers.

Moreso, the social stratification leads to class struggle.Marx (1867) argued that classes are fighting
against, the capitalist and working class. Therefore social workers model thr empowerment of
marginalized working class and addressing the systematic barriers ( Parson 1951).From the above
evidence a social worker can not substitute sociology in understanding the root of class struggle and
policies to maintain social order.
Furthermore, sociological concept on power to a social worker has brought to light the root of class
struggle and exploitation. The conflicting theory by Karl marx argued that the bourgeoisie explots the
working class. Karl Marx also unveil the root of power as Weber (1992)cites that power stems from the
control of means of production which initiated the legitimacy. According to the conflicting theory by thr
use of false consciousness which retard the working class to recognize their exploitation awakening
social worker to dig on the root of power imbalance. This lead to the advocacy of power balance and
equitable distribution of resources. Also social worker cooperated with National workers council to
advocate for fair salaries among the workers. Therefore sociology is an epitome to social workers in
solving societal problems.

Nonetheless, sociological view on religion is a fundamental fact towards achieving moral standards of
societies. It is Cristal clear that some forms of religion forbids their members to go for medical help and
education. According to Karl Marx," religion is the opium of the poor".Therefore from these beliefs
around the circuit of religion has drawn the attention of many social worker in counseling, educating the
church members to conformity. Dulwich college 2018 has a research that social worker were
collaborating with churches to further assist vulnerable societies and people. Therefore sociological
gives social workers lens to curb social problems and support human lives to the fullest.

Nevertheless, sociology on poverty offers a quantitative research data to fetch out the causes of
poverty and its consequences. This has give a warm welcome to social wotker finding solutions to the
problems inorder to eradicate poverty and bringing poverty alleviation measures. (Sherraden
1991)coined the approach that aim to eradicate poverty ..From the above view social workers are now
coordinating with the government and non government organizations as a way of poverty reduction.

Moreover, sociology as a mirror to social workers ot clearly shows that mental health is an illness that
restraints individual from performing social responsibility Parson(1951)argued. Mental health problem is
a world wide problem, DiNitto(2015)fight to implement health policy, mental health and drug abuse
policy. Therefore from the above evidence sociology is rationale to a social worker.
