Deep Learning

Deep Learning (DL) is an advanced subset of machine learning that processes high-dimensional data using artificial neural networks, mimicking human brain functions. It enables machines to learn and make decisions autonomously without human programming, leveraging vast amounts of data. Applications of deep learning include automatic translations, language recognition, text generation, image captioning, self-driving car navigation, legal outcome prediction, precision medicine, automated reporting, game playing, and advanced robotics.

Deep Learning (DL)

DL is a more advanced subset of ML and is

capable of processing high-dimensional data in
various domains, ranging from one-dimensional
data like signals and texts to multidimensional
data such as images, video, or audio
Deep Learning (DL)
Both machine and deep learning are subsets of artificial
intelligence, but deep learning represents the next
evolution of machine learning.
In machine learning, algorithms created by human
programmers are responsible for parsing and learning
from the data. They make decisions based on what they
learn from the data.
Deep Learning (DL)

Deep learning learns through an artificial neural network

that acts very much like a human brain and allows the
machine to analyze data in a structure very much as
humans do.
Deep Learning (DL)
Deep learning machines don't require a human
programmer to tell them what to do with the data. This is
made possible by the extraordinary amount of data we
collect and consume—data is the fuel for deep-learning
models.
Deep Learning (DL)
Some impressive applications which are either deployed
or being worked on right now include:

1. Translations - Although automatic machine translation isn’t

new, deep learning is helping enhance automatic translation
of text by using stacked networks of neural networks and
allowing translations from images.
Deep Learning (DL)
2. Language Recognition - Deep learning machines are
beginning to differentiate dialects of a language. A machine
decides that someone is speaking English and then engages an
AI that is learning to tell the differences between dialects. Once
the dialect is determined, another AI will step in that specializes
in that particular dialect. All of this happens without
involvement from a human.
Deep Learning (DL)
3. Text generation - The machines learn the
punctuation, grammar and style of a piece of
text and can use the model it developed
to automatically create entirely new text with
the proper spelling, grammar and style of the
example text.
Deep Learning (DL)
4. Image caption generation - identify an image
and create a coherent caption with proper
sentence structure for that image just like a
human would write.
Deep Learning (DL)
5. Navigation of self-driving cars – Using
sensors and onboard analytics, cars are
learning to recognize obstacles, street signs,
and react to them appropriately
Deep Learning (DL)
6. Predicting the outcome of legal proceedings –
A system developed a team of British and
American researchers was recently shown to be
able to correctly predict a court’s decision, when
fed the basic facts of the case.
Deep Learning (DL)
7. Precision medicine – Deep Learning
techniques are being used to develop
medicines genetically tailored to an individual’s
genome.
Deep Learning (DL)
8. Automated analysis and reporting – Systems
can analyze data and report insights from it in
natural sounding, human language,
accompanied with infographics which we can
easily digest.
Deep Learning (DL)
9. Game playing – Deep Learning systems have
been taught to play (and win) games such as the
board game Go, and the Atari video
game Breakout.
Deep Learning (DL)
10. Deep Learning Robots– Deep-learning applications for robots are plentiful and
powerful from an impressive deep-learning system that can teach a robot just by
observing the actions of a human completing a task to a housekeeping robot that’s
provided with input from several other AIs in order to take action. Just like how a
human brain processes input from past experiences, current input from senses and
any additional data that is provided, deep-learning models will help robots execute
tasks based on the input of many different AI opinions.
