Self Reflection: Building Confidence in Public Speaking

I am very confident this week because I have advanced to a new level by choosing

public speaking. I look forward to the informative and persuasive speeches because I already

have solid groundwork. Something as ordinary as analysing such speeches as Dr. Martin

Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech and Thomas E. Brown’s ADHD presentation

looks like a precious chance to observe the practical application of those skills.

The assigned readings and the video sections gave me a practical guide to developing

my needed abilities. The chapters on audience analysis and doubling up on ideas are the most

helpful; they provide techniques to ensure my message is relevant to my audience’s needs.

Furthermore, understanding the difference between an informative speech, meant to educate,

and a persuasive speech, meant to convince, will give me an advantage in flexibility as a

speaker.

What has caught my interest is the way in which these lessons can be applied to the

Persuasive vs. Informative Speeches Worksheet. The essence of these speeches makes it quite

rewarding to try and critically analyze their objectives, actions, and results. This activity

gives the impression of preparing the foundation to write my own powerful speeches in the

next weeks.

I also appreciated the attentiveness of the audience and their listening abilities.

Speaking in public may be more than just passing information in front of an audience; it may

also involve making that information understandable to that audience. I will improve my

pitches for presenting proposals and courses and my body language on video.

In conclusion, I am enthusiastic about completing these assignments this week, which

garners authentic optimism. As they are USE, this gives the best mixture of theories and

practicals. That is why I have the confidence and belief that I am capable of getting the

necessary support to pull through. It is my pleasure to learn and develop as well as advance in

my quest to be a better communicator.
