A. Brief Description of the School

NUEVA ERA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL is the farthest school in the western part
of Bunawan District II. It is the boundary school between the municipality of Bunawan &
Veruela. It can also be found without difficulty all the way through the internet by its
school identification number 131659.

 Geographically, the school is situated at Camp 4, Nueva Era, Bunawan, Agusan del
Sur; Bunawan District II, Division of Agusan del Sur, Caraga Region. The School is
situated in a low-lying area and is part of the Agusan Marsh where the famous crocodile
“LOLONG” was captured. The school is accessible by a 50-minute ride of any
transportation from the District Office of Bunawan II. The school site has an area of
16,218 sq. meters with an open space for children to play and rich land suitable for
agriculture.

With the newly-constructed six-classroom two-story building and another three-

classroom building, Nueva Era Elementary School serves the educational needs of 174
children in the Barangay.

Despite “extraordinarily challenging school year” due to the COVID-19 pandemic,

Nueva Era Elementary School is one with the Department of Education’s vision to
continue education despite the challenging school year that we are facing.
To address this unprecedented time we are facing, the usual “new normal” set up
was intensified by the school. Classrooms of every teachers-adviser were accustomed
for easier access of modules since the school will implement the Printed-Modular
learning modality for this school year. Signage, floor markings, sanitizers, foot bath,
hand washing facility and COVID-19 related information posters were posted within the
school for constant awareness of the health protocols.
With the plans and projects that are presented in this School Improvement Plan,
Nueva Era Elementary School Faculty and Staff together with the Parents and
stakeholders school continuously plan and prepare all the necessary elements to fill in
the gaps and address the challenges that we met to be able to serve excellent and
quality education to every learner.

B. School Profile
1. Pupils' Enrolment
The pupils’ enrolment has decreased for the past three years for about
5.60% due to the transfer of residence of some pupils. Based on the latest enrolment

 data from the Learner Information System (LIS), there are 174 pupils enrolled for the
S.Y. 2021-2022 in which 79 are males and 86 are females.

2. Nutritional Status
A number of pupils with nutritional health problem were identified during the
regular weighing of the pupils. There were 15 total number of wasted pupils among
Kindergarten to Grade III learners and 10 severely wasted pupils among Kindergarten to
Grade VI learners. Several feeding program implemented in the school in addressing the
malnourished children.

3. Learners' Materials
In Grade I, the five subjects such as Mother Tongue, Mathematics, Filipino, EsP
& Araling Panlipunan have a total of 36 learner-textbook per subject which indicates
that learner- textbook ratio is 1:1, but English subject has no textbook yet. For Grade II
the learner textbook ratio is 3:1. while Grade VI has 46 learner-textbook in Mathematics
a ratio of 1:2 & 120 learners-textbook in EsP for a ratio of 1:5, while other subjects has
none.

There are only 386 learners-textbook in all subject areas in Grades I, II & VI level.
This data implies that there’s a need of more textbook for these grade levels. While
Grades III, IV & V the learner-textbook ratio is 1:1.

4. Teachers Professional Development

The K-3 teachers had attended the DAP-ELLN division & district training &
seminar workshop while 4-6 teachers attended the PRIMALS training & seminars.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic where seminars are restricted or limited, the
teachers are prompted to attend webinars or virtual seminars where it was safer and
more convenient to attend without gathering with the crowd. The Department of

Education continuously provides professional development for teachers despite the
pandemic we are facing.

Teachers are encouraged to attend trainings in order to enhance and develop

their professional attributes so that they improve their teaching strategies.

5. Funding Sources
For the past school year, the school has received funds from different sources
which in one way or another, contribute effectively on the school’s progress. Sources of
funds includes from MOOE, SEF from LGU and PTA. The school canteen also
generates funding for the school as well as the Gulayan sa Paaralan Projects

Moreover, the rice field of the school provides supplemental funding for the
school’s projects and activities during harvest season..

Though there were funds from different sources, the data however implicates that
the school’s funds are insufficient to accommodate all expenses of the school projects
and activities.

 For the past three consecutive school years, Nueva Era Elementary School have
maintained the zero drop-out rate.
However, due to the pandemic and the “new normal” set up of the mode of
learning, the enrolment as of this school year is lesser compared to the enrolment of
the pas years.
This implies that there is a need to maintain the intervention made to maintain the
zero drop-out rate. Some reason pupils dropped from school are the insufficient family
income and transfer of residence because the place is a low lying area & easily got
flooded.

 a. Percentage of Learners who completed the
school Year (Promotion Rate)

The data of promotion in the year 2018-2019 was 97% for male and 99% for
female, a total of 98%. However, on S.Y. 2019-2020, the promotion rate suddenly
decreased to 93% due to the retention of pupils on Grades 4 and 6. Last S.Y. 2020-
2021, the school have the promotion rate was 99%

b. QUARTERLY MPS OF THE SCHOOL

In consonance with the result of the School Mean Percentage Score (MPS) reached
to 79.00 % in the school year 2017-2018. Filipino 6 has the lowest MPS compared to the
other academic subjects with 76.83% in the school year 2017-2018.

c. Literacy Level
In the Literacy level, the data shows the increasing number of Independent
Readers from Grade 2 to Grade 6 in the current year. Intervention of the school was
conducted to every least-learned competencies during post-test evaluation.

 During the SBM Assessment conducted last June, 2021, the school was
assessed as Level 1- Developing by the panel of evaluators.

This implies that the school needs to improve its SBM Practices to reach the Level
2.

b. Child-Friendly School Survey Result

Based on the results of the evaluation being conducted from the Child-Friendly
School survey of the 7 goals, we found out that our school belongs to a Child-Friendly
School, which earned 20 points.

c. Stakeholders' Participation
Out of 110 parents of the school, 101 parents have participated the Brigada
Eskwela and other school activities. The percentage of participation of parents was
about 93% of the total parent population.

d. Learner-Teacher Ratio
The learner-teacher ratio for the S.Y. 2021-2022 was 29:1. This is because the enrolment
in this year is 174 and the school has 6 permanent teachers. All grade levels have one
permanent teaher assigned.

 The learner-Classroom ratio of the school is 24:1. The school has a two-story
building with six classrooms for Grade 1 to Grade Six learners. The school has also 1
building with three classrooms used for Kindergarten learners, library and computer
room. However, this building needs immediate repair because it is already hazardous for
the pupils to use.

f. Learner- Toilet Ratio

Nueva Era Elementary School has three available communal toilets for the
learners. The learner – toilet ratio is 58:1 which implies that the school needs additional
toilets for the pupils.

g. Learner-Seat Ratio
The learner-seat ratio is 1:1. This indicates that there are sufficient armchairs to
be used by the learners.

 The school is grateful for the accomplishments of the projects that were prioritized for
the last three years of the SIP 2019-2021. These include repainting of the school
perimeter fence, repair of the reading center, construction of 5 spans of concrete
perimeter fence, and other projects through the MOOE funds.
The school’s continuous improvement project in academic is the monitoring of
pupils reading ability through different reading programs and projects that is
continuously implemented by the teachers to monitor the progress of pupils’ reading
ability by remediating daily & other reading related activities.

b. Other Stakeholders'
Accomplishments

The school is very grateful for having an active and supportive GPTA. The school
continuously held its annual Lakan at Lakambini every August during the Buwan ng
Wika as a Fund raising activity. Through their participation in this activity in the month
of August “Buwan Ng Wika” celebration, the parents have purchase 3 snare drum & 3
lyres for the school’s drum & lyre. The school had also put up a school entrance gate
from this income generated activity.
