Malin Kundang
Once Upon a time, lived a diligent boy named Malin
Kundang. He lived in the seashore with his mother. They
were very poor, but they lived quiet and harmonious.
One day, a big ship closed to the beach near their village.
They asked peoples to join work in their ship and went to
the cross island. Malin Kundang wanted to join with them
because he wanted to improve his family’s life. But his
mother didn’t permit him. She worried to Malin. Malin still
kept his argument… and finally he sailed with the

became rich trader. Then, he came to his native village with
his beatiful wife, but his wife didn’t know Malin’s real
descent. His happy mother quickly approached Malin and
brought a plate of village cake, Malin’s Favorite. But Malin
didn’t admit that woman as his poor mother, and then he
kicked the village cakewhich brought by his mother until
scattered.
His mother very broken heart because MAlin rebellious to
her, who had growth him. Then, his mother cursed Malin

vacillated by a big storm and all of his crewman tossed
aside out. Malin realized that was his fault that rebellious
his mother. He bowed down and became a stone.

NPERAHU
Tangkuban Perahu (Sangkuriang)
Once, there was a kingdom in Priangan Land. Lived a happy family.
They were a father in form of dog, his name is Tumang, a mother which
was called Dayang Sumbi, and a boy which was named Sangkuriang.
One day, Dayang Sumbi asked her son to go hunting with his lovely
dog, Tumang. After hunting all day, Sangkuriang began desperate and
worried because he hunted no deer. Then he thought to shot his own
dog. Then he took the dog liver and carried home.
Soon Dayang Sumbi found out that it was not deer lever but Tumang’s,
his own dog. So, She was very angry and hit Sangkuriang’s head. In that
incident, Sangkuriang got wounded and scar then cast away from their
home.
Years go bye, Sangkuriang had travel many places and finally arrived at
a village. He met a beautiful woman and felt in love with her. When
they were discussing their wedding plans, The woman looked at the
wound in Sangkuriang’s head. It matched to her son’s wound who had
left several years earlier. Soon she realized that she felt in love with her
own son.
She couldn’t marry him but how to say it. Then, she found the way. She
needed a lake and a boat for celebrating their wedding day. Sangkuriang
had to make them in one night. He built a lake. With a dawn just
moment away and the boat was almost complete. Dayang Sumbi had to
stop it. Then, she lit up the eastern horizon with flashes of light. It made
the cock crowed for a new day.
Sangkuriang failed to marry her. She was very angry and kicked the
boat. It felt over and became the mountain of Tangkuban Perahu
Bandung
BAWANG MERAH
BAWANG PUTIH
Once upon a time, in a small village in Indonesia, there lived
two sisters named Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih. Bawang
Merah was known for her wickedness and jealousy, while
Bawang Putih was known for her kindness and beauty.
Their mother had passed away when they were young, and
their father had remarried a cruel and wicked stepmother who
favored Bawang Merah and treated Bawang Putih poorly.
One day, the stepmother asked Bawang Putih to go to the river
and wash some clothes. Bawang Putih obediently did as she
was told and went to the river. While she was washing the
clothes, a magic fish appeared and asked her why she was
crying. Bawang Putih told the fish about her troubles and how
her stepmother treated her badly.
The magic fish gave her a magical flower and told her to keep
it safe. Bawang Putih returned home and showed the flower to
her sister, Bawang Merah. However, Bawang Merah became
jealous and stole the flower, hoping to use it for her own
benefit.
The next day, Bawang Merah went to the river to wash some
clothes, and the magic fish appeared to her. But instead of
asking why she was crying, the fish scolded her for her
wickedness and told her that she would be punished for her
actions.
The magic flower that Bawang Merah had stolen from her sister
turned into a stone, and she was unable to remove it from her
hand. She became known as “Bawang Merah Berbatu” or
“Onion with a Stone,” while Bawang Putih’s kindness and
beauty earned her the nickname “Bawang Putih Bersih” or
“Clean Garlic.”
In the end, Bawang Putih married a kind and wealthy prince,
while Bawang Merah was left alone to suffer the consequences
of her actions. The story teaches the importance of kindness,
honesty, and compassion, and the consequences of greed and
jealousy.
TOBA LAKE
The Legend of Toba Lake tells the story of a young
orphan farmer who lived in the northern part of
Sumatra. Syahdan, the young man, earned his living
from farming and fishing. One day while fishing, he
caught a beautiful golden brown fish which
transformed into a beautiful princess in his hands.
This princess was cursed to turn into a creature if
touched by a human, due to violating a prohibition. As
a result of the young man touching her, she became a
princess.
Mesmerized by her beauty, the young man proposed
to her. She agreed, but with the condition that he must
never reveal her origin as a fish. He agreed to this
condition, and they got married and had a son.
However, the son had a bad habit of always wanting
more food and eating everything in sight.
One day, the son ate all the food that was supposed to
be for his father, and in his anger, the young man
revealed the secret of his wife’s origin. This broke his
promise and caused his wife and son to disappear.
From the land where they had stood, springs emerged,
and the water from these springs continued to flow
and grow larger, eventually becoming the vast Toba
Lake that we knew today.
CINDERELLA
Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Cinderella. She lived with her
step mother and two step sisters.
The step mother and sisters were conceited and bad tempered. They treated
Cinderella very badly. Her step mother made Cinderella do the hardest works in
the house; such as scrubbing the floor, cleaning the pot and pan and preparing
the food for the family. The two step sisters, on the other hand, did not work
about the house. Their mother gave them many handsome dresses to wear.
One day, the two step sister received an invitation to the ball that the king’s son
was going to give at the palace. They were excited about this and spent so much
time choosing the dresses they would wear. At last, the day of the ball came,
and away went the sisters to it. Cinderella could not help crying after they had
left.
“Why are crying, Cinderella?” a voice asked. She looked up and saw her fairy
godmother standing beside her, “because I want so much to go to the ball” said
Cinderella. “Well” said the godmother,”you’ve been such a cheerful,
hardworking, uncomplaining girl that I am going to see that you do go to the
ball”.
Magically, the fairy godmother changed a pumpkin into a fine coach and mice
into a coachman and two footmen. Her godmother tapped Cinderella’s raged
dress with her wand, and it became a beautiful ball gown. Then she gave her a
pair of pretty glass slippers. “Now, Cinderella”, she said; “You must leave
before midnight”. Then away she drove in her beautiful coach.
Cinderella was having a wonderfully good time. She danced again and again
with the king’s son. Suddenly the clock began to strike twelve, she ran toward
the door as quickly as she could. In her hurry, one of her glass slipper was left
behind.
A few days later, the king’ son proclaimed that he would marry the girl whose
feet fitted the glass slipper. Her step sisters tried on the slipper but it was too
small for them, no matter how hard they squeezed their toes into it. In the end,
the king’s page let Cinderella try on the slipper. She stuck out her foot and the
page slipped the slipper on. It fitted perfectly.
Finally, she was driven to the palace. The king’s son was overjoyed to see her
again. They were married and live happily ever after.
SNOW WHITE
Once upon a time there lived a little, named Snow White. She
lived with her aunt and uncle because her parents were died.
One day she heard her aunt and uncle talking about leaving Snow
White in the castle because they wanted to go to America and they
didn’t have enough money to take Snow White with them.
Snow White didn’t want her uncle and aunt to do this. So she
decided to run away. The next morning she run away from home
when her aunt and uncle were having breakfast, she run away into
the wood.
In the wood she felt very tired and hungry. Then she saw this
cottage. She knocked but no one answered so she went inside and
felt asleep
Meanwhile seven dwarfs were coming home from work. They
went inside. There, they found Snow White woke up. She saw the
dwarfs. The dwarfs said; “What is your name?”. Snow White said;
“My name is Snow White”. One of the dwarfs said; “If you wish,
you may live here with us”. Snow White told the whole story
about her. Then Snow white ad the seven dwarfs lived happily
ever after.

PINOCCHIO
Once upon a time, there was a puppeteer named Geppetto. He
really wanted a boy but his wife has been died for a long time ago.
One day, he had an idea. He wanted to make a puppet so he would
never felt lonely again. He made a puppet all night without
resting. In the morning, finally he finished his work. He named the
puppet, Pinocchio. He played whole day with Pinocchio.
However, he felt lonely again because Pinocchio couldn’t talk or
walk by himself. In the middle of the night, Geppetto prayed to
the God. His wish was Pinocchio became a real boy, human. He
thought it on his mind in his dream.
In the next morning, he surprised. Pinocchio was alive. He really
was happy. He tough Pinocchio how to walk, how to speak, how
to read etc. like a teacher. Pinocchio learned fast. He entered an
elementary school. One day, Pinocchio felt bored. So, he went
home late. Geppetto worried about him. When Pinocchio came to
home, Geppetto asked him. He said he was on school but he
didn’t. Suddenly, Pinocchio’s nose grow longer. It meant that
Pinocchio lied.
The next day, Pinocchio got caught by thieves. The thieves was
the owner of circus. Pinocchio became a slave for the circus. He
was famous because he was a talking puppet. Geppetto worried
him. Pinocchio didn’t come home for 2 days. He found Pinocchio
everywhere. When he discovered the sea, big wave smashed him.
He was on whale’s stomach when he awoke. He couldn’t find the
way out.
In different place, Pinocchio finally could get out from circus. He
went to home but Geppetto wasn’t on there. He found Geppetto at
sea. He had the same accident like Geppetto. He met Geppetto in
whale’s stomach. They got out from its stomach by made a fire.
They went home back together. In the end, they lived happy
forever after.
