The process of the Hindutva1 takeover of the democratic-secular Indian polity got huge push
with Narendra Modi, a seasoned RSS ideologue becoming the prime minister of India in 2014.
His commitment to the cause of the Hindutva politics and hatred for the Indian democratic-
secular polity has been unambiguous. While ruling the State Gujarat as the chief minister in 2013
he had declared himself to be a Hindu nationalist.2 It was first time in the history of Independent
India that any person occupying a constitutional office identified him/herself as Hindu
nationalist. It is to be noted that terrorists who assassinated Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi,
regarded as Father of the independent India, on January 30, 1948 at Delhi, described themselves,
too, as the Hindu nationalists.

His taking over as the prime minister was celebrated by the RSS and its innumerable known and
unknown organisations by declaring open war against the democratic-secular Indian polity on a
large scale. The Hindutva cadres and mobs ruled the streets of India with vehemence never seen
after Independence. RSS leaders declared that with Modi as the PM India was once again under a
Hindu ruler after Prithvi Raj Chauhan (1178-92); almost 1000 years later! One leading RSS
office-bearer, Rajeshwar Singh declared:

Our target is to make India a Hindu Rashtra by 2021. The Muslims and Christians don‘t have any
right to stay here…So they would either be converted to Hinduism or forced to run away from
here.3

The terrorism is in the genes of the RSS (which translates as ―national volunteer association‖) as
evidence from its own archives will prove. It was formed in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar
(known as Doctorji in the RSS fraternity), Balakrishna Shivram Moonje, his mentor and Vinayak
Damodar Savarkar, the propounder of the idea of Hindutva; all Brahmins. Hedgewar was in the
Indian National Congress (INC) but left it as he was against the anti-British freedom struggle led
by MK Gandhi which treated people of all religions as part of the Indian nation and stood for an
inclusive independent India. A biography of Hedgewar published by the RSS describes that he
parted with INC because,

Gandhiji worked constantly with one eye on Hindu– Muslim unity…But Doctorji sensed danger
in that move. In fact, he did not even relish the newfangled slogan of ‗Hindu– Muslim Unity‘.4

Linkages with Benito Mussolini

This group of Hindu nationalist leaders declared India to be a Hindu nation where the main
enemies were Muslims and Christians of India. According to them Muslims and Christians
remained out of this nationhood because they did not assimilate into the Hindu cultural heritage
or the Hindu religion. Savarkar argued that they,

cannot be recognized as Hindus; as since their adoption of the new cult they had
ceased to own Hindu civilisation [Sanskriti] as a whole. They belong, or feel that
they belong to, a cultural unit altogether different from the Hindu one. Their
heroes and their hero-worship, their fairs and their festivals, their ideals and their
outlook on-life, have now ceased to be common with ours.5

Indian Muslims and Christians were thus ‗emigrants‘ following foreign religions, and not
entitled to be part of the Indian nation which was a Hindu nation. In order to tackle the Muslims
and Christian ‗problem‘ they found the Nazi and the Fascist projects of cleansing the Jews very
attractive. The Italian researcher, Marzia Casolari has done pioneering work in making public the
direct linkages between RSS and Mussolini based on Moonje‘s diary. Moonje, ―a politician
strictly related to the RSS‖ had man-to-man meeting with Mussolini on the evening March 19,
1931 at Rome. According to Moonje‘s own diary he told Mussolini that

I just saw this morning and afternoon the Balilla [Italian Fascist Youth
Organisation] and the Fascist Organisations and I was much impressed. Italy
needs them for her development and prosperity…Every aspiring and growing
Nation needs such organisations…‘Signor Mussolini–who appeared very
pleased–said–Thanks but yours is an uphill task. However I wish you every
success in return.‘

According to Moonje‘s diary immediately after his return from Rome he called upon Hindu
nationalist leaders to

Imitate the youth movements of Germany and the Balilla and Fascist
organisations of Italy. I think they are eminently suited for introduction in India,
adapting them to suit the special conditions. I have been very much impressed by
these movements and I have seen their activities with my own eyes in all details.

March 31, 1934, Moonje, Hedgewar and Laloo Gokhale had a meeting, the subject of which was
again the military organisation of the Hindus, along the Italian and German lines. Moonje called
upon the gathering that they should work for

standardisation of Hinduism throughout India... But the point is that this ideal
cannot be brought to effect unless we have our own swaraj with a Hindu as a
dictator like Shivaji of old or Mussolini or Hitler of the present day Italy or
Germany... But this does not mean that we have to sit with folded hands until
some such dictator arises in India. We should formulate a scientific scheme and
carry on propaganda for it…

According to Marzia, Moonje publicly admitted that his idea of militarily reorganizing Hindu
society was inspired by the ―military training schools of England, France, Germany and Italy‖
Moonje‘s ‗Preface to the Scheme of the Central Hindu Military Society and its Military School‘
declared at the outset:

This training is meant for qualifying and fitting our boys for the game of killing
masses of men with the ambition of winning victory with the best possible
causalities of dead and wounded while causing the utmost possible to the
adversary.6

The renowned Indian historian, Professor Ramchandra Guha underscoring the continuation of
Fascist Italian legacy by the current RSS-BJP regime wrote,

The Italian State of the 1920s bears a striking resemblance to Modi‘s regime
today which speaks respectfully of the Constitution while blatantly violating its
spirit and essence, which appeals to ancient wisdom while displaying a contempt
for modern science, which claims to exalt ancient culture while manifesting an
utter philistinism in practice…

Benito Mussolini and his fascists thought they would rule Italy forever. Narendra
Modi and the BJP think likewise. These fantasies of eternal rule will not come to
fruition; but so long as the present regime remains in power, it will continue to
extract a horrendous cost — in economic, political, social, and moral terms. Italy
took decades to recover from the ravages of Mussolini and his party; India may
take even longer to recover from the ravages of Modi and his party.7

The most prominent ideologue of the RSS, MS Golwalkar (known as Guru Golwalkar in the RSS
fraternity) who became RSS Supremo in 1940 and who is credited by the present Indian PM to
have groomed him into a political leader declared:

If, as is indisputably proved, Hindusthan is the land of the Hindus and is the terra
firma for the Hindu nation alone to flourish upon, what is to be the fate of all
those, who, today, happen to live upon the land, though not belonging to the
Hindu Race, Religion and culture.8

It would be like the Jews under Hitler and Mussolini. Thus Golwalkar glorified the Holocaust in
the following words:

German Race pride has now become the topic of the day. To keep up the purity of
the race and its culture, Germany shocked the world by her purging the country of
the Semitic races—the Jews. Race pride at its highest has been manifested here.
Germany has also shown how well-nigh impossible it is for races and cultures,
having differences going to the root, to be assimilated into one united whole, a
good lesson for us in Hindusthan to learn and profit by.9

Golwalkar, finally, following into the foot-steps of Hitler, arrived at the following solution for
the minority ―problem‖ in India; Muslims and Christians who were declared belong to foreign
races,

From this stand point, sanctioned by the experience of shrewd old nations, the
foreign races in Hindusthan must either adopt the Hindu culture and language,
must learn to respect and hold in reverence Hindu religion, must entertain no idea
but those of the glorification of the Hindu race and culture, i.e., of the Hindu
nation and must lose their separate existence to merge in the Hindu race, or may
stay in the country, wholly subordinated to the Hindu Nation, claiming nothing,
deserving no privileges, far less any preferential treatment not even citizen‘s
rights. There is, at least should be, no other course for them to adopt. We are an
old nation: let us deal, as old nations ought to and do deal, with the foreign races
who have chosen to live in our country.10

Savarkar went on to support Hitler‘s anti-Jewish pogroms and on October 14, 1938, he suggested
the same solution for the Muslim problem in India:

A Nation is formed by a majority living therein. What did the Jews do in

Germany? They being in minority were driven out from Germany.11

It may be confusing for anyone to find that RSS celebrated the Holocaust by openly supporting
Hitler (1940s and early 1950s) but now zealously supports the Jewish State. Mohan Bhagwat, the
current Supremo of the RSS, addressing the ‗Yuva Sankalp Shivir‘ (Youth pledge camp) at Agra
on November 3, 2014 advocated ―treading the path of Israel while serving the cause of
nationalism.‖12 Devsena Mishra while writing in the Jerusalem Post, a leading Israeli daily
underlined this love between the RSS and Israel in the following words,

whenever a BJP (a political affiliate of the RSS) government comes to power, the
vibrancy in India-Israel relations reaches new heights.13

It is normal for the RSS. It is not contradictory but shows two equally important Fascist traits of
the organization. Its support to the Holocaust was the outcome of its love for the Aryan race and
support to the Jewish State, today, only underlines its unbridled hatred for Muslims; the non-
Aryans. According to the renowned author Khushwant Singh the Hindutva icons, Savarkar and
Golwalkar who laid down this path for the RSS,

Both believed in the superiority of the Aryan race and approved of Adolf Hitler‘s
extermination of millions of Jews in gas chambers. Nevertheless, they supported
Zionism and the Jewish state of Israel for no other reason but that it was forever
waging wars against its Arab neighbours who were Muslims. Islamophobia
became an integral part of Hindutva.14

RSS friendship with the Myanmar military rulers

These are not Mussolini and Hitler only who have been favourites of RSS. In fact, diverse
totalitarian ideologies and regimes of the 20th century have been darlings of the RSS. One of the
most ruthless ruling gang, the junta which ruled Myanmar was a darling of it. According to a
report in the official organ of the RSS, Organiser dated February 28-March 5, 2000, filed by its
own correspondent in Burma:

The 50th anniversary of the Sanatan Dharma Swayamsevak Sangh (SDSS-The

RSS counterpart in Myanmar) was held at the National Theatre on Mayoma
Kyaung Street, Yagnon, recently. Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development

Council, Lt. Gen. Tin Oo attended the meeting. The programme was attended by
ministers and senior military officers. Minister for Commerce, Brig. Gen. Pyi
Sone; Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Maj. Gen. Sein Htwa;
Minister for Health, Maj. Gen. Ket Sein were among the prominent persons who
attended the function.

This report appeared with two photographs. In one photograph five military Generals including
second in command of the military junta, Lt. Gen. Tin Oo, were seen standing on the stage in the
midst of SDSS leadership wearing khaki shorts [RSS attire which is changed to brown trousers
now]. In the other photograph leading lights of the Burmese military junta were seen sitting in
the front row of the auditorium.

With these old links with the Myanmar military rulers the inimical attitude of the RSS-BJP
Indian rulers towards the persecuted Rohingyas in Myanmar is neither accidental nor sudden.
Indian government led by Modi falling in line with the Myanmar rulers has refused to admit that
genocide of the Rohingyas is taking place. Thousands of persecuted Rohingyas who escaped to
India to save themselves from genocide are being forced to leave India.

RSS celebrated rise of the Fascists in Europe

When the present day Europe was shocked by the resurgence of fascist groups in France,
Germany and Austria at the beginning of the 20th century, RSS true to its totalitarian breed
celebrated this Fascist revival. It was described as resurgence of ―nationalism‖ and ―patriotism‖.
According to Organiser dated May 26, 2002:

The post-September Eleven world is a different place to live. People all over the
world are growingly becoming more and more nationalistic and patriotic…The
recent presidential elections in France have clearly indicated the large amount of
support that has come to exist for ultra nationalist Jean Marie Le Pen. Although
he was defeated in the elections, according to reports in world media, he was
successful in getting almost 6 million votes, which is no small success keeping in
view the hate campaign that was run against him in the liberal and left
establishment and in media. And these are not the only leaders and parties who
have gained due to the resurgence of sentiments of nationalism in their respective
countries.

Other countries of significance like Germany are also witnessing a similar

political phenomenon. The rise of Ronald Schill has chilled many communist
sympathisers. Austria has a coalition government in which the ultra-nationalist
Freedom Party of Jorg Haider is a partner.

RSS rolls out racist project of producing ‘Aryan’ babies in

According to RSS, Nazism is to be followed not only for cleansing of Muslims and Christians
but also for producing the ‗Aryan‘ babies as was done in Germany under Hitler. RSS has
officially shared the information that one of its offshoots, Garbh Vigyan Sanskar (Uterus Science
Culture), following the Vedic preaching and experiments in Germany, is conducting live trials in
many parts of India for producing ‗fair‘ and ‗tall‘, ‗customized‘ perfect babies. According to Dr.
Hitesh Jani, convener of the Arogya Bharati (health wing), another outfit of RSS which is part of
the project,

Parents apparently have small, dark babies because they are impure, but
purification is fortunately a simple, protocol-driven process tied to the lunar
calendar. Prospective parents should copulate by astrological schedule and watch
what they ingest, hear and think. Thus they will clean up the chromosomes in
their gametes, and the original sin tattering the telomeres.15

Speaking to a prominent English daily of India, the top office-bearers associated with this ―top-
priority‖ project of the RSS, shared the facts that

it was launched in Gujarat over a decade ago, and taken up at the national level in
2015. Today, the project, assisted by the Sangh‘s education wing Vidya Bharati,
has around 10 branches in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, with more units to come
up soon in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.16

According to Dr Karishma Mohandas Narwani, national convener of the project,

Our main objective is to make a samarth Bharat (capable India) through uttam
santati (best off-springs). Our target is to have thousands of such babies by
2020.17

According to the managers of this venture this project was inspired on the advice of a senior RSS
ideologue, received over 40 years ago, who found Germany had ―resurrected itself by having
such signature children through Ayurvedic practices within two decades after World War II‖. Dr
Ashok Kumar Varshney, an RSS whole-timer for over 30 years and national organising secretary
of the Arogya Bharati, said that apart from a university in Jamnagar (Gujarat), two other
institutions have incorporated Garbh Vigyan Sanskar in their curriculum: Children University in
Gandhinagar and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University in Bhopal, all in India.

The project claims to have ensured the delivery of 450 ―customised babies‖ so far, and its target
is to have a Garbh Vigyan Anusandhan Kendra, a facilitation centre, in every state by 2020.The

aim of this project is that women should deliver an ―uttam santati‖; a perfect, ―customised child‖.
The process requires three months of ―shuddhikaran” (purification) for parents, intercourse at a
time decided by planetary configurations, complete abstinence after the baby is conceived, and
procedural and dietary regulations.

In order to spread the goal of producing ‗tall‘ and ‗fair‘ babies several seminars and counseling
sessions were held in Delhi, Mumbai, and smaller cities such as Udupi (Karnataka), Kasaragod
(Kerala), Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), Kolkata (West Bengal), Rohtak and
Gurgaon (Haryana). The RSS was hopeful that by 2020 to have thousands of ideal infants on the
production line.

This RSS love for a Race which is of ―fair‖ complexion is part of its ideological legacy that
Indians are Aryans; fair, tall, honourable, respectable and noble who speak Sanskrit language.
RSS stands for the Aryan supremacy and believes that only Hindu Brahmins of North India are
from that stock. We will discuss this issue in detail later.

The RSS belief of the Aryan superiority has been borrowed from Hitler and his Nazi Party of
Germany. According to the website of the United State Holocaust Memorial Museum, Adolf
Hitler even before becoming chancellor of Germany was obsessed with the ideas about
superiority of the Aryan Race. He believed in the Racial ―purity‖ and in the superiority of the
―Germanic race‖ which he described as Aryan ―master race.‖ He declared this Aryan Race must
remain pure in order to rule the world one day which was not far away. According to Hitler, the
ideal ―Aryan‖ was blond, blue-eyed, and tall. 18

When Hitler and the Nazis came to power, these beliefs became the state ideology and were
propagated publicly through posters, on the radio, in movies, in classrooms, and in the
newspapers. The Nazis began to put their ideology into practice with the support of German
scientists who believed that the human race could be improved by limiting the reproduction of
people considered ―inferior.‖ Beginning in 1933, German physicians were allowed to perform
forced sterilizations, operations making it impossible for the victims to have children. Among the
targets of this public program were Roma (Gypsies), an ethnic minority numbering about 30,000
in Germany, and handicapped individuals, including the mentally ill and people born deaf and
blind. Also victimized were about 500 African-German children, the offspring of German
mothers and African colonial soldiers in the Allied armies that occupied the German Rhineland
region after World War I. 19

In fact, the present project of the RSS aimed at producing ‗fair‘ and ‗tall‘ customized babies is
direct borrowing from the Nazis, ―Lebensborn‖ (Spring of life) program to create an Aryan
master Race. Under this project of breeding of children of pure Aryan race, some 8,000 children
were born in Germany and around 12,000 in Norway as part of the ―Lebensborn‖ under the
direct supervision of the Nazi theoretician and leader, Heinrich Himmler to encourage women of

―pure blood‖20 to bear fair-tall Aryan children. Interestingly, most of such bred children did not
grow into fair-tall and blond babies. However, it was an integral part of a murderous racial policy
that on the one hand aimed at producing pure Aryan children and on the other hand
exterminating non-Aryans like Jews, 6 million of them killed and the forced sterilization of
people with hereditary diseases.

The RSS project of “uttam santati”; a white and tall ―customised child‖ in its first gear, attempts
to follow the Nazi Racist project, ―Lebensborn‖. As a natural corollary, soon it will go for the
second part of the project like Nazis; eliminating all those Indians who are not found to be
―Aryan‖ of pure blood. It is to be noted that Hindutva gang historically has been worshipper of
the Nazi ideals. The most prominent ideologue of RSS even penned a highly despicable book We
or Our Nationhood Defined in 1939. In this book, Golwalkar not only glorified cleansing of
millions of Jews by Hitler but also advised the Hindutva organizations in India to emulate the
Nazis in exterminating Muslims and Christians who were not ―Aryans‖.21.However, these will
not be only Muslims and Christians who will face the Hindutva scientists and lynching mobs but
also most of the South Indians who have already been declared as ―Black‖.

RSS’ hatred for democratic-secular India

The RSS, contrary to the principles of democracy, constantly demanded India to be ruled under a
totalitarian regime. Golwalkar while delivering a speech before the 1350 top level cadres of the
RSS in 1940 declared,

RSS inspired by one flag [saffron], one leader and one ideology is lighting the
flame of Hindutva in each and every corner of this great land.22

This slogan of one flag, one leader and one ideology was directly borrowed from the
programmes of Nazi and Fascist parties of Europe.

The English organ of the RSS, Organiser, on the very eve of Independence (August 14, 1947)
editorially chalked out its concept of the Hindu nation in the following words:

Let us no longer allow ourselves to be influenced by false notions of nationhood.

Much of the mental confusion and the present and future troubles can be removed
by the ready recognition of the simple fact that in Hindusthan only the Hindus
form the nation and the national structure must be built on that safe and sound
foundation…the nation itself must be built up of Hindus, on Hindu traditions,
culture, ideas and aspirations.

RSS worships arms while claiming to be a cultural-religious

organization
RSS claims to be a cultural organization and the largest organization of the Hindus of the world.
But it is the only cultural-religious organization on this earth which worships armaments as a
Hindu festival. The RSS was founded on Dussehra (Vijay Dashmi; festival celebrated as the day
of victory of God Ram over Ravana). On this day the RSS holds its biggest programme of the
year which is also celebration of its founding day. The most important part of the celebration is
the ''shastr pooja" (worship of the arms) by the Supremo of the RSS. This ''shastr pooja" has
never been skipped, last time it was done by Mohan Bhagat on October 8, 2019. RSS true to its
Fascist heritage has turned it into a Hindu festival.23
This brazen show of love for arms by the RSS was, shockingly, borrowed by Narendra Modi
when he was chief minister of Gujarat. He began ''shastr pooja" as an official function of the
state coinciding with the RSS worshipping of the arms on Dussehra. It was first time in the
history of democratic-secular India that one of the highest constitutional functionaries of India
was worshipping arms and not the Constitution of India. The photos of Modi's ''shastr pooja"
which were officially released were quite unnerving. There are no records to show that even
Hitler and Mussolini indulged in such shows of love for arms.24
Worship of arms continues despite strong protests from the civil society. Prakash Ambedkar,
grandson of BR Ambedkar echoed the concern in the following words:
We have an Arms Act in the country which prevents anyone from possessing
weapons. The RSS people are found possessing weapons. Photographs of
Bhagwat and (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi with weapons like AK 47, multi-

firing guns, shoulder to fire rockets etc have been published. I have asked the
government to explain why no action is being taken against him.25

Call to assassinate Congress leaders, Muslims and

Christians declared dacoits
Ramchandra Guha relying on the intelligence reports wrote that on December 6, 1947,
Golwalkar convened a meeting of RSS workers in the town of Govardhan (Mathura), not far
from Delhi. The issue discussed was

how to ‗assassinate the leading persons of the Congress in order to terrorise the
public and to get their hold over them‘…Two days later, Golwalkar addressed a
crowd of several thousand volunteers at the Rohtak Road Camp in Delhi. The
police reporter in attendance wrote that the RSS leader said that ‗the Sangh will
not rest content until it had finished Pakistan. If anyone stood in our way we will
have to finish them too, whether it was Nehru Government or any other
Government...‘ Referring to Muslims, he said that no power on earth could keep
them in Hindustan. They should have to quit this country... ‗If they were made to
stay here the responsibility would be the Government‘s and the Hindu community
would not be responsible. Mahatma Gandhi could not mislead them any longer.
We have the means whereby [our] opponents could be immediately silenced‘.

Six weeks later, Gandhi was assassinated, and Golwalkar and his colleagues put
in jail. Released a year later on a bond of good behaviour, they retained a dogged
commitment to their ideas. Golwalkar himself argued that ―in this land Hindus
have been the owners, Parsis and Jews the guests, and Muslims and Christians the
dacoits‘.26

Golwalkar planned massacre of Muslims on the eve of

Indian Independence
So RSS under Golwalkar was committed to the cleansing of Muslims from India. He was
personally involved in this evil project as was corroborated by the first home secretary of Uttar
Pradesh, Rajeshwar Dayal, and a senior bureaucrat in his autobiography.

I must record an episode of a very grave nature when the procrastination and
indecision of the UP Cabinet led to dire consequences. When communal tension
was still at fever pitch, the Deputy Inspector General of Police of the Western
Range, a very seasoned and capable officer, B. B. L. Jaitley, arrived at my house
in great secrecy. He was accompanied by two of his officers who brought with
them two large steel trunks securely locked. When the trunks were opened, they
revealed incontrovertible evidence of a dastardly conspiracy to create a communal
holocaust throughout the Western districts of the province. The trunks were
crammed with blueprints of great accuracy and professionalism of every town and
village in that vast area, prominently marking out the Muslim localities and
habitations. There were also detailed instructions regarding access to the various
locations, and other matters which amply revealed the sinister purport.

Greatly alarmed by those revelations, I immediately took the police party to the
Premier‘s [Govind Vallabh Pant of the INC] house. There, in a closed room,
Jaitley gave a full report of his discovery, backed by all the evidence contained in
the steel trunks. Timely raids conducted on the premises of the RSS (Rashtriya
Swayamsevak Sangh) had brought the massive conspiracy to light. The whole
plot had been concerted under the direction and supervision of the Supremo of
the organization [Golwalkar] himself.27

Of course, Pant an RSS mole in the Congress party took no action despite Golwalkar present in
the area. He was never charged for this attempt to massacre Muslims.

The heinous justification for killing a Muslim girl by a senior RSS

leader during the Partition violence

How RSS cadres were experimenting with newer forms of murder on the
eve of India's Partition can be known from the following first person
account of a perpetrator. It is from autobiography of a senior RSS
pracharak (preacher or whole-timer), Krishna Gopal Rastogi titled, Aap
Beeti [autobiography]. While describing an incident in which he
personally led a mob of armed Hindus against Muslims in Kaliar town
situated between Roorkee and Haridwar went on to state without any
remorse how he did not spare even a young Muslim girl. According to
Rastogi‘s heart-chilling version:

It was an old locality inhabited by the Muslims. They, armed

with daggers, spears, guns were fully prepared to meet any
situation. When I learnt of their intentions to attack some
Hindu areas, I organized 250 people including some known
gangsters and raided Kaliar. Then a strange thing happened.
While we had been killing men in one of the houses, we
spotted a very beautiful young girl. The assailants led by me
were instantly enamoured. They even started fighting among
themselves to take possession of the girl. I faced an
extremely awkward situation and did not know what to do. I
tried my best to get the assailants to focus on real issues. I
abused and threatened them but they would not listen to me.
And suddenly the solution came. The girl was after all
causing this trouble and had to be eliminated. I took my gun
and shot her. She died. My associates were shocked and
returned to the work. Though it was against our principle to
assault a woman, but it was done in an emergency and I still
regret it."28

Even Sardar Patel, the first home minister of India abhorred

massacre of Muslims during the Partition by the RSS
It is well-known that the then Home Minister of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, had a soft-
corner for the RSS and continues to be a favourite with the RSS. However even Sardar Patel
found it difficult to defend the RSS for its role in the post-Partition massacre of Muslims. In a
letter written to Golwalkar (the then Supremo of the RSS), dated 11 September 1948, Sardar
Patel stated:

Organizing the Hindus and helping them is one thing but going in for revenge for
its sufferings on innocent and helpless men, women and children is quite another
thing…29

Highly decorated Indian Police officer on the RSS terrorism

under Modi rule
There are instances of honest senior officials who had the courage to bring in public domain
record RSS‘ terrorist activities. How RSS spread hatred and terrorized minorities of India in less
than a year of Modi first term as the PM (2014-19) of India was described in detail by one of the
most decorated cops of India, Julio Ribeiro, former ambassador to Romania and recipient of the
Padma Bhushan, a prominent national award in the following words. Petrified as a Christian, he
wrote on March 17, 2015:

Today, in my 86th year, I feel threatened, not wanted, reduced to a stranger in my

own country. The same category of citizens who had put their trust in me to
rescue them from a force they could not comprehend have now come out of the
woodwork to condemn me for practising a religion that is different from theirs. I
am not an Indian anymore, at least in the eyes of the proponents of the Hindu
Rashtra.

Is it coincidence or a well-thought-out plan that the systematic targeting of a small

and peaceful community should begin only after the BJP government of Narendra
Modi came to power last May? „Ghar wapsi‘, the declaration of Christmas as
‗Good Governance Day‘, the attack on Christian churches and schools in Delhi,
all added to a sense of siege that now afflicts these peaceful people.

Christians have consistently punched above their weight — not as much as the
tiny Parsi community, but just as noticeably. Education, in particular, has been
their forte. Many schools, colleges, related establishments that teach skills for jobs
have been set up and run by Christians. They are much in demand. Even diehard
Hindus have sought admission in such centres of learning and benefited from the
commitment and sincerity of Christian teachers. Incidentally, no one seems to
have been converted to Christianity, though many, many have imbibed Christian
values and turned ‗pseudo-secularist‘.

The Indian army was headed by a Christian general, the navy more than once, and
same with the air force. The country‘s defence forces have countless men and
women in uniform who are Christians. How can they be declared non-Indians by
Parivar hotheads out to create a pure Hindu Rashtra?

It is tragic that these extremists have been emboldened beyond permissible limits
by an atmosphere of hate and distrust. The Christian population, a mere 2 per cent
of the total populace, has been subjected to a series of well-directed body blows.
If these extremists later turn their attention to Muslims, which seems to be their
goal, they will invite consequences that this writer dreads to imagine.30

What happened to the Gujarati Muslims when Golwalkar‘s favourite RSS student, Modi ruled
the state would be clear from the following words of an editorial in a prominent English daily of
India, Hindustan Times,

Daughters were gang-raped in front of their fathers and then had their heads
bashed in. Their fathers were doused with petrol and set on fire. Their property
was looted. Their businesses were destroyed. And the police stood by and did
nothing.31

For RSS Indian Muslims & Christians are ‘internal threat’

number one & two respectively
In fact, the ‗Holy‘ book for the RSS cadres Bunch of Thoughts, has a long chapter titled as
‗Internal Threats‘ in which Muslims and Christians are described as threat number one and two
respectively. This chapter opens with the following statement.

It has been the tragic lesson of the history of many a country in the world that the
hostile elements within the country pose a far greater menace to national security
then aggressors from outside.32

While treating Muslims as ‗Internal Threat‘ number one, Golwalkar goes on to elaborate,

Even to this day there are so many who say, ‗now there is no Muslim problem at
all. All those riotous elements who supported Pakistan have gone away once for
all. The remaining Muslims are devoted to our country. After all, they have no
other place to go and they are bound to remain loyal‘….It would be suicidal to
delude ourselves into believing that they have turned patriots overnight after the
creation of Pakistan. On the contrary, the Muslim menace has increased a

hundredfold by the creation of Pakistan which has become a springboard for all
their future aggressive designs on our country.33

He goes on to spit venom against common Muslims in the following words,

...within the country there are so many Muslim pockets, i.e., so many ‗miniature
Pakistans‘…The conclusion is that, in practically every place, there are Muslims
who are in constant touch with Pakistan over the transmitter…34

According to him every Muslim in India is untrustworthy and disloyal,

Even today, Muslims, whether in high positions of the Government or outside,

participate openly in rabidly anti-national conferences.35

While deliberating on the ‗Internal Threat‘ number two, he says,

Such is the role of Christian gentlemen residing in our land today, out to demolish
not only the religious and social fabric of our life but also to establish political
domination in various pockets and if possible all over the land.36

This book from the Guru of Hate, Golwalkar denigrates the Indian Constitution, concept of
equality, justice and the Tricolour; the national flag. These offences attract at least 50 Indian
Penal Code charges but this poisonous book continues to be sold in all Indian languages and
remains best-seller for RSS.

Golwalkar’s lie on cow-slaughter paved the way for lynching

of Muslims
With Modi‘s coming to power as PM in 2014 RSS zealots started lynching Muslims for cow-
slaughter, apart from burning and looting their properties. There have been hundreds of such
cases and continue to happen. A leading RSS cadre who also happened to be the chief minister of
State of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar declared:

Muslim rahein, magar is desh mein beef khaana chhodna hi hoga unko. Yahan ki
manyata hai gau (Muslims can continue to live in this country, but they will have
to give up eating beef. The cow is an article of faith here).37

So with the beginning of the Modi rule in 2014, RSS added one more condition for the Indian
Muslims to stay in India. The ideological basis for these series of lynching was provided by the
RSS Guru Golwalkar, who as a shameless liar declared that cow-slaughter,

Began with the coming of foreign invaders to our country. In order to reduce the
population to slavery, they thought that the best method to be adapted was to
stamp out every vestige of self-respect in Hindus…In that line cow slaughter also
began.38

The inference was clear; Muslims were responsible for starting the cow-slaughter in India. It was
immaterial to this Indian heir of Nazi propagandist Paul Joseph Goebbels that the claim that
beef-eating started with the arrival of the Muslims in India was not even in keeping with the
Vedic version of history as narrated by the ‗Hindu‘ chroniclers. Swami Vivekananda regarded as
a great Hindu philosopher by the RSS, while addressing a meeting at the Shakespeare Club,
Pasadena, California, USA (February 2, 1900) on the theme of ‗Buddhistic India‘ told the
gathering:

You will be astonished if I tell you that, according to old ceremonials, he is not a
good Hindu who does not eat beef. On certain occasions he must sacrifice a bull
and eat it.39

At another occasion he went on to disclose,

There was a time in this very India when, without eating beef, no Brahmin could
remain a Brahmin; you read in the Vedas how, when a Sannyasin, a king, or a
great man came into a house, the best bullock was killed; how in time it was
found that as we were an agricultural race, killing the best bulls meant
annihilation of the race. Therefore the practice was stopped, and a voice was
raised against the killing of cows.40

This fact was corroborated by the other research works sponsored by the Ramakrishna Mission
established by Vivekananda. According to C. Kunhan Raja, a prominent authority on the history
and culture of the Vedic period:

The Vedic Aryans, including the Brahmanas, ate fish, meat and even beef. A
distinguished guest was honoured with beef served at a meal. Although the Vedic
Aryans ate beef, milch cows were not killed. One of the words that designated
cow was aghnya (what shall not be killed). But a guest was a goghna (one for
whom a cow is killed). It is only bulls, barren cows and calves that were killed.41

Dr. BR Ambedkar, one of the greatest researcher and authority on the Indian politics, religions
and culture produced a brilliant essay on the subject titled ‗Did the Hindus Never Eat Beef?‘42

Dr. Ambedkar after studying a large number of Vedic and Hindu scriptures arrived at the
conclusion that,

when the learned Brahmins argue that the Hindus not only never ate beef but they
always held the cow to be sacred and were always opposed to the killing of the
cow, it is impossible to accept their view.

Ambedkar concluded his essay with the following words:

With this evidence no one can doubt that there was a time when Hindus, both
Brahmins and non-Brahmins, ate not only flesh but also beef.43

The violence unleashed by the Hindutva cadres on vulnerable sections of Indians also
underscores hypocrisy as an integral trait of the RSS. In fact, to say that it indulged in
double/triple speak would be an understatement in its case. The RSS cadres are killing
indiscreetly poor Indians, not only for slaughtering cows but for even transporting these animals.
At the same time the RSS-BJP are ruling States of Goa, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland,
Arunachal and Manipur where cow slaughter is legal and beef is staple diet.

As was expected RSS chief, Mohan Bhagwat remained in denial mode about lynching. While
addressing the annual gathering of the RSS at its headquarters on October 8, 2019. He declared
that lynching was a ―western construct‖ and should not be used in the Indian context to defame
the country. According to him,

Lynching is not the word from Indian ethos, its origin is from a story in a separate
religious text. We Indians trust in brotherhood. Don‘t impose such terms on
Indians.44

It was natural that Supremo of RSS would come forward to dilute the issue which he attempted
in his recent annual address at RSS headquarters on Dussehra (October 8, 2019). He went on to
declare,

Nowadays, there have been reports that members of a community in our society
have been attacked by another community, making them victims of social
violence. Such incidents have not been one-sided. There are reports of incidents
happening from both sides and allegations and counter-allegations. It has also
come to light that some incidents have been deliberately fabricated while some
others have been published in a distorted manner.45

It may be noted that few years back when there was a spurt of rape cases in India same Bhagwat
had declared rapes as foreign!

Will Taj Mahal meet the fate of the mosque at Ayodhya?

One of the Greatest Wonders of the World, the only one being in India, Taj Mahal becomes the
newest target of the Hindutva killer/demolition squads during PM Modi‘s government. This
monument was ordered to be built by Mughal king Shahab-ud-din Muhammad Khurram known
as Shahjahan (1592-1666) in the memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

A Hindutva icon from the western Uttar Pradesh and a fire-spitting RSS cadre, Sangeet Som
after inaugurating a statue of 8th century Hindu king Anangpal Singh Tomar at Sisauli village
near Meerut (October 16, 2017) was once again in top gear while denigrating Muslims and
Islam. However, it was not from his earlier repository of hate like cow, love jihad, ghar wapsi
etc. etc. On this occasion he chose a new theme. It was Taj Mahal being attacked as part of the
Hindutva polarizing agenda.

According to press reports Som in this speech told the gathering:

Many people were pained to see that the Taj Mahal had been removed from the
list of historical places, what history, history of which place, which history. The
person who made Taj Mahal [Shahjahan] imprisoned his father, he targeted the
Hindus of Uttar Pradesh and India. If these people still find place in history, then
it is very unfortunate and I guarantee that history will be changed.46

Som continuing his diatribe said

In the past few years, there have been attempts to distort history in India and Uttar
Pradesh. Today, the governments of India and UP are working to bring that
history on the correct path, from the history of Ram to Krishna, Maharana Pratap
to Shivaji Rao, they are trying to incorporate them in the books. And the blots
which are in our books be it of Akbar, Aurangzeb, Babur, the government is
working to remove them from history.47

RSS zealot's hilarious sense of ‘History’

This Hindutva sermon on the Indian history was atrocious as well as hilarious so far as facts
were concerned which matter least for the RSS zealots. One could see the clear imprint of RSS
‗boudhik‘ (intellectual) training which produces such intellectuals. Shahjahan becomes
Aurangzeb! Shah Jahan, who got Taj Mahal built in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, was
told to be the one who jailed his father. On the contrary it was Shahjahan who was imprisoned by
his son Aurangzeb till former‘s death. But so far as aim of communal polarization was concerned
there was no confusion in his diatribe.

Som a beloved of RSS is a seasoned religious bigot. He was implicated for his provocative
statements in the Muzaffanagar riots of 2013 that claimed at least 60 lives and displaced 50,000
people. The Justice Vishnu Sahai Commission report on Muzaffanagar riots named him among
the people responsible for inciting the riots. In the last UP assembly elections he was also
charged with instigating communal hatred after his supporters screened a documentary that
allegedly polarized voters. This RSS-BJP leader was also accused of stoking communal tensions
in Dadri‘s Bisada village after the 2015 mob lynching of Mohammed Ikhlaq.

It was in recognition for such prominent services to the cause of Hindutva politics that he was
felicitated with awards like Hindu Hriday Samrat and Mahathakur Sangharsh Veer by ‗Hindu‘

organizations. His prominence in the Hindutva hierarchy can be gauged by the fact that instead
of being behind bars he was provided Z-category security by the RSS-BJP government.48

It is true that a section of the BJP leaders did half-heartedly express difference with Som‘s
opinion but took care that their response did not hurt this perpetrator of the hate. The then UP
tourism minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi made it clear that the Taj was part of our heritage. But
when asked directly about Som‘s denigration instead of condemning the hate campaign against
the Taj Mahal she simply said,

Well, every individual is free to make an opinion but as far as the government is
concerned Taj is very much on our priority list.

There is no doubt that Som‘s diatribe was neither an exception nor an aberration. He was
religiously expressing the RSS-BJP point of view on the monument. In June 2017 chief minister
Yogi Adityanath had no hesitation in declaring that ―the Ramayana and the Gita represent Indian
culture and not the Taj Mahal.‖ He went on to emphasize that the ivory-white marble mausoleum
did not represent ―Indian culture‖.

How the RSS-BJP intends to use the issue of Taj Mahal for its polarizing agenda can be known
by the statement of another seasoned RSS-BJP leader, Vinay Katiyar, BJP Rajya Sabha MP
which he made 2 days after Som‘s venom spitting against Taj Mahal. According to him Taj
Mahal was built by Mughal emperor Shahjahan after demolishing a Hindu temple dedicated to
Shiva called Tejomahal.49 It is to be noted that Katiyar is facing criminal charges for being a
facilitator of the demolition of Babri mosque on December 6, 1992 at Ayodhya.

It was no different with the BJP national spokesperson and a senior RSS cadre, G V L Rao who
though expressed difference with Som but treated Taj Mahal as a heritage of the killer and
barbaric Islamic rule as Som had done. He declared

As a party, we do not have a view on any individual monuments. But, broadly

speaking, the period of Islamic rule—around 800 years—was a period of extreme
exploitation, insane barbarism and unprecedented intolerance to the other faith. If
anyone tries to gloss over these facts, it will be actually distorting history. It is
well documented by historians of world stature that Muslim invasion and its rule
represented the most oppressive and regressive world over.50

The RSS hatred for the Taj Mahal, a great example of the Mughal architecture which is a symbol
of India in the world never gets abated, on the contrary, this hatred is preached brazenly in the
highest echelons of the corridors of power. As late as third week of September 2020, the Uttar
Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath once again reiterated that the monument could not be
India‘s icon and ―How can our heroes be Mughals?‖51

Three ways Taj Mahal can be harmed

There is real danger to the safety and existence of Taj Mahal. The rulers having allegiance to the
RSS cannot be trusted despite all kinds of assurances. India has not forgotten how Hindutva
bandwagon especially RSS cheated and reneged on the Babri mosque despite having given
assurances to the Supreme Court, Indian Parliament and the then PM of India, Narsimha Rao that
the mosque would not be harmed. There can be 3 kinds of immediate dangers to the Taj Mahal.

1. Mobs may be allowed to damage/destroy Taj Mahal for being a symbol of the Islamic
repressive rule as was done on December 6, 1992 or in 2006-7 in Kandhmal against Churches
and seminaries of ‗anti-national‘ Christians. It may be noted that many ‗Hindu‘
historians/intellectuals have been claiming that Taj Mahal was a temple.

2. Taj Mahal is damaged/destroyed using a fake Islamist group or conspiring with some
Islamist group claiming that mausoleum like Taj Mahal is not allowed in Islam. It may be noted
here that RSS relies on conspiracies for achieving its objects. Dr. Rajendra Prasad who rose to be
the first President of the Indian Republic warned even first home minister of India, Sardar Patel
on this aspect of the functioning of the RSS which we will discuss later in the book.

3. Even if Taj Mahal is not demolished its beauty and gorgeousness for which the Taj Mahal is
known can be damaged permanently by the conspiratorial use of sub-standard and harmful
chemicals for cleaning. This can be done through experts/consultants committed to the cleansing
of India of the ‗Islamic‘ heritage.

In order to check and counter any such attempt the highest court of justice in India, the Supreme
Court, must take immediate charge of the World Heritage Site as governments both at the
Central level as well as the State level are committed to what creatures like Yogi Adityanath,
Som, GL Rao and Vinay Katiyar have been propagating. The UNO, especially UNESCO must
monitor the situation to save the Taj Mahal.

Sikhism, Jainism, and Buddhism not independent religions

RSS regards followers of Islam and Christianity as emigrant or foreigners and demands their
cleansing as these two religions are declared to be foreign religions. However, RSS has no
respect for Indian religions like Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism as these are not treated as
independent religions but part of Hinduism. Guru Golwalkar set the agenda by declaring that,
―the Buddhists, the Jain, the Sikh are all included in that one comprehensive word ‗Hindu‘.‖52

In fact, Golwalkar learnt this denial to Sikhism, Jainism and Buddhism the status of independent
religions from senior Hindutva icon, Savarkar who believed that the followers of,

Vaidicism, Sanatanism, Jainism, Buddism, Lingaitism, Shikhism, the Arya

Samaji, the Brahmasamaj, the Devasamaj, the Prarthana Samaji and such other
religions of Indian origin are Hindus and constitute Hindudom, i.e., the Hindu
people as a whole.53

Prominent RSS ideologue Nana Deshmukh who justified

1984 Massacre of Sikhs conferred highest state award by the
Modi government
RSS claims to have always stood for the Hindu-Sikh unity. It occasionally expresses its gratitude
to Sikhism for saving Hinduism from the Muslim aggression. However, it may not be irrelevant
to note here that RSS does not treat Sikhism as independent religion which discarded Casteism
and Brahmanical hegemony but part of the Hinduism. The RSS-BJP leaders have been blaming
the Congress Party for the 1984 Sikh massacre which is true but the role of the RSS has not been
much different. The perusal of the contemporary RSS documents show that major focus was on
condemning the Sikh extremism, eulogizing Indira Gandhi and welcoming the crowning of Rajiv
Gandhi as new prime minister.

The most shocking proof of such a dehumanized attitude towards the massacre of Sikhs is a
document circulated by Nana Deshmukh, a prominent whole timer and ideologue of the RSS
[now deceased]. This document titled as ‗Moments of soul searching‘ was circulated by
Deshmukh on November 8, 1984, may help in unmasking the whole lot of criminals involved in
the massacre of innocent Sikhs who had nothing to do with the killing of the then Indian prime
minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi.54 This document may also throw light on where the cadres came

from, who meticulously organized the killing of Sikhs. Nana Deshmukh in this document is seen
outlining the justification of the massacre of the Sikh community in 1984.

1. The massacre of Sikhs was not the handiwork of any group or anti-social elements but the
result of a genuine feeling of anger.

2. Deshmukh did not distinguish the action of the two security personnel of Indira Gandhi,
who happened to be Sikhs, from that of the whole Sikh community. According to his document
the killers of Indira Gandhi were working under some kind of mandate of their community.

3. Sikhs themselves invited these attacks, thus advancing the Congress theory of justifying the
massacre of the Sikhs.

4. He glorified the Operation Blue Star and described any opposition to it as anti-national.
When Sikhs were being killed in thousands he was warning the country of Sikh extremism, thus
offering ideological defense of those killings.

5. Sikh community as a whole was responsible for the violence in Punjab.

6. Sikhs should have done nothing in self-defence but showed patience and tolerance against
the killer mobs.

7. These were Sikh intellectuals and not killer mobs which were responsible for the massacre.
They had turned Sikhs into a militant community, cutting them off from their Hindu roots, thus
inviting attacks from the nationalist Indians. Moreover, he treated all Sikhs as part of the same
gang and described attacks on them as a reaction of the nationalist Hindus.

8. He described Indira Gandhi as the only leader who could keep the country united and
assassination of such a great leader such killings could not be avoided.

9. There was not a single sentence in the Deshmukh document demanding, from the then
Congress Government at the Centre or the then home minister Narsimha Rao (a Congress leader
dear to the RSS who later silently watched the demolition of the Babri mosque by the Hindutva
goons as prime minister of India in 1992) remedial measures for controlling the violence against
the minority community. Mind it, that Deshmukh circulated this document on November 8,
1984, and from October 31 to this date Sikhs were left alone to face the killing gangs. In fact
November 5-10 was the period when the maximum killings of Sikhs took place. Deshmukh was
just not bothered about all this.

10. It is generally believed that the Congress cadres were behind this genocide. This may be true
but there were other forces too which actively participated in this massacre and whose role has
never been investigated. It could be one of the reasons that actual perpetrators remain unknown.
Those who witnessed the genocide were stunned by the swiftness and military precision of the
killer/marauding gangs (later on witnessed during the Babri mosque demolition, burning alive of
Dr. Graham Steins with his two sons, 2002 pogrom of the Muslims in Gujarat and cleansing of

Christians in parts of Orissa) which went on a burning spree of the innocent Sikhs. This, surely,
was beyond the capacity of the thugs led by many Congress leaders.

Nana Deshmukh awarded ‘Bharat Ratna’ (the Jewel of

India), the highest national award
As if it was not enough injustice to the martyrs and survivors of the 1984 massacre, on the eve of
the 2019 Republic Day RSS-BJP rulers of India, bestowed the highest national award Bharat
Ratna (the gem of India) on Nana Deshmukh. Indian Prime Minister Modi praising Deshmukh
said,

He personifies humility, compassion, and service to the downtrodden. He is a

Bharat Ratna in the truest sense.55

RSS wants all references of 1984 Sikh massacre dropped

from the textbooks
The RSS wants the nation to forget the 1984 Sikh massacre. The senior RSS ideologue, Dina
Nath Batra on behalf of the RSS-affiliated Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas demanded that any
reference to violence against minorities in the text-books should be removed which included
references to a simple apology tendered by the former PM Manmohan Singh over 1984 violence.
Singh offering the apology in Parliament on August 12, 2005, had stated:

I have no hesitation in apologizing to the Sikh community. I apologize not only to

the Sikh community, but to the whole Indian nation because what took place in
1984 is the negation of the concept of nationhood enshrined in our Constitution.56

Shockingly, even such a simple apology was not acceptable to the RSS.

RSS linkages with international Fascist organisations

Report in the New York Times

The world has not bothered to take any notice of a new terrorist network developing fast in India
and its neighbourhood between RSS and the two ultra nationalist Buddhist groups of Myanmar
and Sri Lanka against minorities (Muslims and Christian) in the region. In a startling and focused
disclosure The International New York Times (October 16, 2014) in an editorial titled ‗Deadly
alliances against Muslims‘ wrote:

On his 79th birthday in July, the Dalai Lama appealed to Buddhist extremist
groups in Myanmar and Sri Lanka to stop instigating attacks against Muslim
minorities that have killed scores. Instead, in an affront to Buddhism‘s core
message of compassion, leaders of those groups announced an alliance to make
common cause against Muslims.

The time has come to ally internationally,‘ Galagodaththe Gnanasara, the leader
of the radical Sri Lankan Buddhist group Bodu Bala Sena, announced at a
convention held in Colombo last month. The guest of honor was Ashin Wirathu, a
Buddhist radical whose picture Time magazine put on its July 1 covers as ‗The
Face of Buddhist Terror. The government of Prime Minister Mahindra Rajapaksa
ignored pleas by Sri Lankan Muslim and Christian civil groups, fearful of more
anti-Muslim violence in their country, to deny Mr. Wirathu a visa. Granting Mr.
Wirathu a visa can only reinforce the fears of many Muslims that the
government—and perhaps more powerful regional allies—back Bodu Bala Sena,
which translates as Buddhist Power Force.

Last week, Mr. Gnanasara claimed he was in discussions ‗at a high level‘ with the
right-wing Indian Hindu group Rashtriya Swayam Sevak to form what he called a
‗Hindu-Buddhist peace zone‘ in South Asia. A Rashtriya Swayam Sevak
spokesman, Ram Madhav, promptly denied that there were any such discussions.
But Mr. Madhav, now general secretary of India‘s governing Bharatiya Janata
Party, has written comments sympathetic to Bodu Bala Sena and Mr. Wirathu‘s
group 969 in Myanmar on his Facebook and Twitter accounts.

It is folly for the governments of Mr. Rajapaksa in Sri Lanka, President Thein
Sein of Myanmar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India, or their political
allies, to give even the appearance of tolerating these Islamophobic groups in a
region that has too often been convulsed by religious sectarian violence. They
should condemn this mad alliance before it can spread further.57

Neo-Nazi mass murderer of Norway, Breivik’s linkages with

the RSS
Gnanasara‘s revelation that ultra-orthodox Buddhists in South Asia were entering into deadly
alliances with RSS for cleansing minorities in the region was not first of its kind. Neo-Nazi mass
murderer of Norway, Anders Behring Breivik, glorified Indian ‗Hindu Nationalists.58 He opened
Pandora‘s Box when declared ―Hindu Nationalist‖ movement of India as a key ally in a global
struggle to bring down democratic regimes across the world. Just before he went to massacre a
large number of people in Norway he released a ―manifesto‖ of 1,518 pages, of which 102 pages
dealt with the glorification of Hindutva movement of India. It declared support to ―Sanatana
Dharma movements and Indian nationalists in general.‖

This manifesto also laid down a plan of co-operation between Neo-Nazi movements of Europe
and ―Hindu Nationalist‖ organizations of India. It said that it was essential that these two ―learn
from each other and cooperate as much as possible‖ as ―Our goals are more or less identical.‖
This manifesto specially mentioned the name of the fountain head of the Hindutva politics like
RSS and its subsidiaries like BJP (political wing of the RSS), ABVP (student wing of the RSS)
and VHP (RSS wing to bring the world under Hindutva hegemony) in this regard.59 Importantly,
the manifesto pledged military support ―to the nationalists in the Indian civil war and in the
deportation of all Muslims from India‖ as part of a larger campaign to ―overthrow of all western
European multi-culturalist governments.

In the light of these facts it can be assumed that RSS is gradually working to build an
international terrorist network to spread and execute its politics of hatred against Muslims,
Christians and liberal elements. Its goal of cleansing minorities is being globalized with very
serious repercussions for the region and the world.

Even Father of the nation, MK Gandhi not spared

Hindu Mahasabha and RSS were jointly responsible for the murder of Father of the Nation, MK
Gandhi, was corroborated by Sardar Patel in a letter to a prominent leader of Hindu Mahasabha,
Syama Prasad Mookerjee. On July 18, 1948 Sardar wrote:

As regards the RSS and the Hindu Mahasabha, the case relating to Gandhiji‘s
murder is sub judice and I should not like to say anything about the participation
of the two organizations, but our reports do confirm that, as a result of the
activities of these two bodies, particularly the former, an atmosphere was created
in the country in which such a ghastly tragedy became possible. There is no doubt

in my mind that the extreme section of the Hindu Mahasabha was involved in the
conspiracy. The activities of the RSS constituted a clear threat to the existence of
Government and the State. Our reports show that those activities, despite the ban,
have not died down. Indeed, as time has marched on, the RSS circles are
becoming more defiant and are indulging in their subversive activities in an
increasing measure.60

Celebration of the assassination of Gandhi as ‘Vadh’

(slaying) of a demon at the altar of the Hindu Rashtra
After the Modi Government came to power in 2014, the RSS-BJP leaders have been demanding
national recognition, as freedom fighters, for the killers of Gandhiji. Temples have been coming
up with the idols of Nathuram Vinayak Godse who was the main killer of Gandhi. The Hindutva
organisations have been celebrating the killing of Gandhiji as the ‗vadh‘ of a demon at the altar
of Hindu Rashtra. It is to be noted that Nathuram Godse and others who conspired to kill M.K.
Gandhiji, claimed to be ‗Hindu Nationalists‘. Sakshi Maharaj61, Pragya Thakur, Usha Thakur
declared Godse as the greatest patriot.62

BJP IT-cell in-charge calls for auction of Gandhi's murderer

Godse’s revolver to prove his popularity
Vicky Mittal, BJP IT-Cell Indore in-charge demanded that in order to decide who is more
popular in India, whether Gandhi or Godse, ―once put on sale respected Godse‘s pistol you
would know whether he was a terrorist or a patriot?‖. He seemed to be sure that Godse, the killer
of Gandhi would win hands down!63 His FB page appears with an intimate photograph of his
with PM Modi.

If you believe that all this is happening without the knowledge of the RSS/BJP‘s top leadership,
you are grossly mistaken. A prominent Hindutva organisation, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS),
allied to the RSS, has been regularly holding national conventions for ‗Establishment of a Hindu
Nation‘ in India. In June 2013 one such convention was held in Goa. It is to be noted that
members of one avatar of the HJS, Sanatan Sanstha, have been found indulging in bomb blasts at
Muslim institutions and are under investigation for the murder of renowned intellectuals like
Govind Pansare and Narendra Dabholkar, MM Kalburgi and Gauri Lankesh. This convention

started its proceedings with a felicitation message from the then chief minister of Gujarat,
Narendrabhai Modi, on June 1, 2013 wishing the HJS all success in its project of turning India
into a Hindu Nation.64 Shockingly, from the same dais in this convention from where Modi‘s
felicitation message was read, one of the prominent speakers, K.V. Sitaramiah, declared on June
10, 2013 that Gandhi was ‗terrible, wicked and most sinful‘. Rejoicing at the killing of M.K.
Gandhi, he went on to declare,

As Bhagwan Shri Krishna said in the Gita, Paritranaya Sadhunam Vinashaya Cha
Dush-kritam/ Dharamasansthapnaya-Sambhavami-Yuge-Yuge (For the protection
of the good, for the destruction of the wicked and for the establishment of
righteousness, I am born in every age) on...30th January 1948 evening, Shri Ram
came in the form of Nathuram Godse and ended the life of Gandhi.65

The report of this speech was deleted from the website of the HJS66, but it is available on the
website of US-based ―Forum for Hindu Awakening‖.67 It only shows how RSS cadres in USA
are misusing right to freedom of speech for spreading hatred.

RSS as a North Indian high Caste Oligarchy

Those who believe that RSS wants cleansing of Muslims and Christians only know half of the
reality. Its project of Hindu nation demands sub-human existence for Sudras (Dalits) and Hindu
women. In fact, RSS wanted this Constitution to be replaced by Manusmriti or Manu Code (laws
of Manu) that is notorious for its derogatory and inhuman references to Sudras, Untouchables
and women. The Constituent Assembly of India finalized the Constitution of India on November
26, 1949, RSS was not happy. Its organ, Organiser in an editorial on November 30, 1949,
complained:

But in our Constitution there is no mention of the unique constitutional

development in ancient Bharat. Manu‘s Laws were written long before Lycurgus
of Sparta or Solon of Persia. To this day his laws as enunciated in the Manusmriti
excite the admiration of the world and elicit spontaneous obedience and
conformity. But to our constitutional pundits that means nothing.

By demanding promulgation of Manu Code in the Independent India RSS was simply following
its mentor, philosopher and guide VD Savarkar who declared:

Manusmriti is that scripture which is most worship-able after Vedas for our Hindu
Nation and which from ancient times has become the basis of our culture-
customs, thought and practice. This book for centuries has codified the spiritual
and divine march of our nation. Even today the rules which are followed by crores
of Hindus in their lives and practice are based on Manusmriti. Today Manusmriti
is Hindu Law.68

For RSS Casteism is synonymous with Hindu nation

Faith of RSS brass in Manusmriti, naturally, leads them to believe in Casteism too which gave
birth to the debased practice of Untouchability. For RSS Casteism is the essence of Hindu
Nationalism. Golwalkar did not mince words in declaring that Casteism was synonymous with
the Hindu Nation. According to him, the Hindu people are none else but,

The Hindu People, they said, is the Virat Purusha, the Almighty manifesting
Himself. Though they did not use the word ‗Hindu‘, it is clear from the following
description of the Almighty in Purusha Sukta wherein it is stated that the sun &
the moon are His eyes, the stars and the skies are created from his nabhi [navel]
and Brahmin is the head, Kshatriya the hands, Vaishya the thighs and Shudra the
feet. [Italics as in the original text] This means that the people who have this
fourfold arrangement, i.e., the Hindu People, is [sic] our God. This supreme
vision of Godhead is the very core of our concept of ‗nation‘ and has permeated
our thinking and given rise to various unique concepts of our cultural heritage.69

What kind of a Hindutva civilization the RSS and Hindutva camp want to build by enforcing the
laws of Manu, can be known by having a glimpse of the laws prescribed by Manu for the lower
castes/Untouchables and women. Some of these dehumanizing and degenerate laws, which are
presented here, are self-explanatory.

1. For the sake of the prosperity of the worlds (the divine one) caused the Brahmana, the
Kshatriya, the Vaisya, and the Sudra to proceed from his mouth, his arm, his thighs and his
feet. (I/31)

2. One occupation only the lord prescribed to the Sudras, to serve meekly even these (other)
three castes. (I/91)

3. Once-born man (a Sudra), who insults a twice-born man with gross invective, shall have
his tongue cut out; for he is of low origin. (VIII/270)

4. If he mentions the names and castes (jati) of the (twice-born) with contumely, an iron nail,
ten fingers long, shall be thrust red-hot into his mouth. (VIII/271)

5. If he arrogantly teaches Brahmanas their duty, the king shall cause hot oil to be poured
into his mouth and into his ears. (VIII/272)

6. He who raises his hand or a stick, shall have his hand cut off; he who in anger kicks with
his foot, shall have his foot cut off. (VIII/280)

8. A low-caste man who tries to place himself on the same seat with a man of a high caste,
shall be branded on his hip and be banished, or (the king) shall cause his buttock to be
gashed. (VIII/281)

As per the Manu Code if Sudras are to be given most stringent punishments for even petty
violations/actions, the same Code of Manu is very lenient towards Brahmins. Shloka 380 in
Chapter VIII bestowing profound love on Brahmins decrees:

―Let him never slay a Brahmana, though he have committed all (possible) crimes; let him banish
such an (offender), leaving all his property (to him) and (his body) unhurt.‖

A selection of Laws of Manu demeaning Hindu women

1. Day and night woman must be kept in dependence by the males (of) their (families), and,
if they attach themselves to sensual enjoyments, they must be kept under one‘s control.
(IX/2)

2. Her father protects (her) in childhood, her husband protects (her) in youth, and her sons
protect (her) in old age; a woman is never fit for independence. (IX/3)

3. Women do not care for beauty, nor is their attention fixed on age; (thinking), ‗(It is
enough that) he is a man,‘ they give themselves to the handsome and to the ugly. (IX/14)

4. Through their passion for men, through their mutable temper, through their natural
heartlessness, they become disloyal towards their husbands, however carefully they may be
guarded in this (world). (IX/15)

5. (When creating them) Manu allotted to women (a love of their) bed, (of their) seat and (of)
ornament, impure desires, wrath, dishonesty, malice, and bad conduct. (IX/17)70

The reproduced parts of the Manu Code above need no further elaboration and commentary.
They are too glaringly venomous, Fascist and degenerated against Untouchables who are
referred to as Sudras by Manu. Perhaps this was the reason that the German philosopher,
Friedrich Nietzsche who contributed immensely to the growth of totalitarian ideas in Europe in
the 20th century, fell in love with this work.

It is to be noted here that a copy of Manusmriti was burnt as a protest in the presence of Dr. BR
Ambedkar during the historic Mahad agitation on December, 1927. Dr Ambedkar called upon
Dalits to commemorate December 25 as the Manusmriti Dehen Diwas (Manusmriti burning day)
in future. In fact, the Brahmanism as basis of the RSS world-view is the original Fascism in the
history of human civilization.

The story does not end with Manusmriti. The RSS book stores sell titles like How to lead a
Household Life by Swami Ramsukhdas which openly preach violence against the Hindu women.
This title is part of low priced anti-woman literature published by Geeta Press. Here is a glimpse
from this book which is in the question-answer form and available in English, Hindi and other
regional Indian languages.

Question: What should the wife do if her husband beats her and troubles her?

Answer: The wife should think that she is paying her debt of her previous life and
thus her sins are being destroyed and she is becoming pure. When her parents
come to know this, they can take her to their own house because they have not
given their daughter training to face this sort of bad behaviour.

Question: What should she do if her parents don‘t take her to their own house?

Answer: Under such circumstances what can the helpless wife do? She should
reap the fruit of her past actions. She should patiently bear the beatings of her
husband. By bearing them she will be freed from her sins and it is possible that
her husband may start loving her.71

There is blatant preaching in favour of the inhuman Sati as we will see in the
following:

Question: Is ‗Sati Pratha‘ (viz., the tradition of the wife being cremated with the
dead body of the husband on the funeral pyre) proper or improper?

Answer: A wife‘s cremation with the dead body of her husband on the funeral
pyre is not a tradition. She, in whose mind truth and enthusiasm come, burns even
without fire and she does not suffer any pain while she burns. This is not a
tradition that she should do so, but this is her truth, righteousness and faith in
scriptural decorum.72

RSS hatred for dark-skinned South Indians

Another important Fascist-Nazi trait of the RSS is hatred for ‗dark-skinned‘ or non-Aryan
people. It was not long ago that a senior RSS ideologue, Tarun Vijay, the former editor of the
RSS Hindi organ, Panchajanya, ex-member of the Indian Parliament who apart from being in-
charge of the RSS project of spreading Hindutva politics in Tamil Nadu also headed the ‗India-
Africa Parliamentary Friendship Group‘ reaffirmed it. Talking to a global news network while
denying that Africans nationals were attacked in India due to Racism, he could not hide the
reality that he was a die-hard Racist. According to him:

If we were racist, why would (we) have the entire south (India) which is
completely… you know Tamil (s), you (know people from) Kerala, you know
Karnataka and people from Andhra. Why do we live with them? We have black
people around us.73

He was candid in sharing his belief learnt at the RSS intellectual forums that White Indians from
North of the country were living with ―the black people around us‖ who inhabited in Tamil
Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra. Tarun‘s statement reemphasized the racist understanding
of RSS about India; North Indians are White (Aryans) whereas South Indians are Black
(Dravidians) thus belonging to two different races. The message from him was that Aryans of the
North were doing a favour to Black South Indians by allowing the latter to stay with the former.

Golwalkar on human Crossbreeding in Kerala: Denigrating

the Kerala Hindus specially women
RSS which claims to be the largest world organization of Hindus is, in fact, working over-time to
establish the hegemony of the North Indian Brahmanical over the Hindu society. The RSS brand
of Brahmanism treats South Indian Hindus as inferior racially. In its world-view North Indian
Brahmins are the superior lot in comparison to the rest.

And RSS does it brazenly. Golwalkar was invited to address the students of the School of Social
Science of Gujarat University on December 17, 1960. In this address, while underlying his firm
belief in the Race Theory, he touched upon the issue of cross-breeding of human beings in the
Indian society in history. He said:

Today experiments in cross-breeding are made only on animals. But the courage
to make such experiments on human beings is not shown even by the so-called
modern scientist of today. If some human cross-breeding is seen today it is the
result not of scientific experiments but of carnal lust. Now let us see the
experiments our ancestors made in this sphere. In an effort to better the human
species through cross-breeding the Namboodri Brahamanas of the North were
settled in Kerala74.and a rule was laid down that the eldest son of a Namboodri
family could marry only the daughter of Vaishya, Kashtriya or Shudra
communities of Kerala. Another still more courageous rule was that the first off-
spring of a married woman of any class must be fathered by a Namboodri
Brahman and then she could beget children by her husband. Today this
experiment will be called adultery but it was not so, as it was limited to the first
child.75

The above statement of Golwalkar was highly worrying in many respects. Firstly, it proved that
Golwalkar believed that even in the Hindu society India had a superior Race or breed and also an
inferior Race which needed to be improved through cross-breeding. Secondly, a more worrying
aspect was his belief that Brahmans of the North (India) and specially Namboodri Brahamans,
belonged to a superior Race. Due to this quality, Namboodri Brahamanas were sent from the
North to Kerala to improve the breed of inferior Hindus there. Interestingly, this was being
argued by a person who claimed to uphold the honour and unity of the Hindus world over.
Thirdly, Golwalkar as a male chauvinist believed that a Namboodri Brahman male belonging to
a superior Race from the North only could improve the inferior human Race from South. For him
wombs of Kerala‘s Hindu women enjoyed no sanctity and were simply objects of improving
breed through intercourse with Namboodri Brahamanas who in no way were related to them.
Thus, Golwalkar was, in fact, confirming the allegation that in the past male dominated high

Caste society forced newly-wedded women of other castes to pass their first nights by sleeping
with superior Caste males.

Shockingly, Golwalkar expressed these Racist, anti-women and anti-egalitarian views not in the
presence of some uneducated or anti-social elements but before a noble gathering of gentry
consisting of the faculty and students of a prime university in Gujarat. In fact, Golwalkar was
welcomed by Dr. B. R. Shenoy, Director of the School while he arrived at the auditorium. The
press reports make it clear that there was no murmur of protest against such fascist and ridiculous
ideas. It shows the degree of respectability which high caste oratory enjoyed in Gujarat and
explains why Hindutva could make inroads in this region.

It is also surprising that despite holding such ideas which openly denigrated women and society
of Kerala and defending the institution of Casteism, RSS has been able to create pockets of
influence in Kerala. There is no denying the fact that after Gujarat and Orissa, it is Kerala where
we find RSS well-entrenched.

Use of conspiracies for terror activities by the RSS

Like any other terrorist outfit RSS too indulges in conspiracies. The central publication house of
the RSS, the Suruchi Prakashan, has published a book in Hindi, Param Vaibhav Ke Path Par
(The Road to Glory) in 1997 giving details of more than 40 organizations created by the RSS for
different tasks.76 The above publication of the RSS shows how the organization is run in a
covert manner. It runs like a well-organized mafia through its subsidiaries and satellites. There
has always been a conscious attempt to create confusion about its different fronts which provide
RSS with the opportunity to dissociate with any of these as per its convenience. For instance it
used Hindu Jagaran Manch (HJM) for attacking Christians in late 1990s and when public
opinion, media and Parliament seemed to turn against it, RSS denied any relation with HJM.
When nefarious designs of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and Dharam Sansad [religious
parliament] were exposed before the Nation, RSS announced that these were independent
organizations.

It will be interesting to know that many of the organisations have been organized in a secret
manner, a characteristic of a Fascist set-up. For instance while giving the details of Hindu
Jagaran Manch (HJM), the book says,

From the point of view of Hindu awakening this kind of forums (HJM) at present
are active in 17 states with different names like ‗Hindu Manch‘ in Delhi, ‗Hindu
Munani‘ in Tamilnadu, ‗Hinduekjut‘ in Maharashtra. These are forums, not
associations or organizations, that‘s why it is not required to have membership,
registration and elections.77

It is clear that this mode has been adapted to scrutiny by the law enforcing agencies and the
government. Such an organizational mode provides an opportunity to RSS to disown any
individual or organization. How it conspires can be known by the following disclosure in Param
Vaibhav Ke Path Par about a case in Delhi immediately after Partition:

Swayamsevaks had posed to have adopted Musalman religion in order to gain the
confidence of Delhi Muslim League for knowing their conspiracies.78

What these swayamsevaks, impersonating as Muslims, on the eve of Independence were doing
was made clear by none other than Dr. Rajendra Prasad who later became the first President of
the Indian Republic. In a letter to the first Home Minister of India, Sardar Patel, on 14 March
1948, Prasad wrote:

I am told that RSS people have a plan of creating trouble. They have got a number
of men dressed as Muslims and looking like Muslims who are to create trouble
with the Hindus by attacking them and thus inciting the Hindus. Similarly there
will be some Hindus among them who will attack Muslims and thus incite
Muslims. The result of this kind of trouble amongst the Hindus and Muslims will
be to create a conflagration.79

Sardar Patel, the first home minister of India was familiar with this nefarious character of the
RSS. In a letter to the Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru he admitted:

In the case of secret organization like the RSS which has no records, registers, etc.
securing of authentic information whether a particular individual is active worker
or not is rendered a very difficult task.80

Superior Hindu Aryan Race to rule the world

Savarkar, who is the greatest Hindutva icon for RSS and Prime Minister Modi, concluded his
book Hindutva (1923) with the war-cry that Hindus who were Aryans were destined to rule the
world. He declared that Hindus as a great race of

thirty crores of people [the then Hindu population], with India for their basis of
operation, for their Fatherland and for their Holyland with such a history behind

them, bound together by ties of a common blood and common culture can dictate
their terms to the whole world. A day will come when mankind will have to face
the force. 81

Golwalkar, following into the footsteps of Savarkar‘s imperialistic ambitions, foresaw the world
under the supremacy of the Hindu power...Hindus were destined to rule for the reason because
they were the only,

noble specimen of humanity, truth and generosity, under the divine influence of
which not one of the hundreds of millions of the people, ever told a lie or stole or
stole or indulged in any moral aberration; and all this long before the west had
learnt to eat roast meat instead of raw!82

According to Golwalkar, Hindus simply had to reawaken their Race-spirit and national
consciousness in order to be world rulers. The following words of Golwalkar did not seem to be
different from the calls of Hitler and Mussolini to rule over the world.

The Race Spirit has been awakening. The lion was not dead, only sleeping. He is
rousing himself up again and the world has to see the might of the regenerated
Hindu nation strike down the enemy‘s hosts with its mighty arm. The star has
risen and is steadily climbing up the firmanent [sic]. At no distant date the world
shall see it and tremble with fear or dance with delight.83

He called upon the Hindus to ‗rally to the Hindu standard, the Bhagwa Dhwaja (Saffron Flag),
set our teeth in grim determination to wipe out the opposing forces‘.84 According to Golwalkar,
to rule over the world was the heavenly task ordained to the Hindu race. They had no reason to
be afraid of their future and no cause to despond.

All we have to do to remount our throne is to respond to the awakened Race-spirit

and re-rouse our national consciousness, and victory is in our grasp. The undying
voices of our sages call; let us gird up our lions and follow them. The spirit of the
race beckons to us and has lighted for its benighted children the path to their
cherished ideal, with beacons of undying spiritual splendour. Let us rouse
ourselves to our true nationality, let us follow the lead of our race-spirit, and fill
the heavens with the clarion call of the Vedic seers ‗from sea to sea over all the

land—one nation,‘ one glorious, splendorous Hindu nation benignly shedding

peace and plenty over the whole world.85

In fact, Golwalkar believed that Hindus ruled major parts of the world in the past and if the
‗Race-Spirit‘ was awakened once again they could be the world rulers. He declared that the RSS
was established to fulfil one real practical world mission and that was to bring back the glories of
the golden past in which,

our arms stretched as far as America on the one side—that was long before
Columbus ‗discovered‘ America!—and on the other side to China, Japan,
Cambodia, Malaya, Siam, Indonesia and all the South-East Asian countries and
right up to Magnolia and Siberia in the North. Our powerful political empire too
spread over these South-East areas and continued for 1400 years., the Shailendra
Empire alone flourishing for over 700 years—standing as a powerful bulwark
against Chinese expansion.86

With this plan of establishing the hegemony of the Hindutva brand of Hinduism, RSS according
to its own admission works in 39 countries overtly.87 There must be many more countries where
it must be working covertly with many Fascist organisations.

With these facts available in the official archives of the RSS, it is not difficult to realize that RSS
as a terrorist outfit represents the most lethal danger not only to the democratic-secular Indian
polity but to the world peace and the ideal of co-existence. All those individuals and
organisations which stand by these ideals and do not want the world under the Iron Heel must
meet the challenge head-on.
