STORY WRITING
Read the clues carefully and write a Story. Give a suitable title to your story:
14. WRITING SKILLS: STORY WRITING
I. Write a story based on the below given clues. Give suitable title and the Moral for the same:
CLUES: Once upon a time….there live a saint….known for his preachings…people from far off
villages came to find solutions to their problems….once a man came and shared that he had no
control over his temper….the saint requested the man to meet him the next day…the man came to
find solution…..he saw the saint holding a pillar in the room…for hours the man kept repeating his
problem…yet the saint did not reply…finally when the man lost his temper…the saint replied that
he wanted to reply but the pillar was not leaving him…the man angrily shouted…..what a foolish
excuse….you are holding the pillar….how can it hold you?...the saint left the pillar and gently
replied….I think you have got the answer.
Write the Fair Draft of the story:
The Saint and the Pillar
Once upon a time, there lived a saint who was renowned for his wisdom and teachings. People from far-off
villages would come to seek his advice and find solutions to their problems. One day, a man visited the
saint, troubled by his inability to control his temper.
"Revered Saint," the man began, "I have no control over my temper. It flares up at the slightest
provocation, and I cannot seem to calm myself down. Can you help me?"
The saint listened patiently and then requested the man to return the next day for his answer.
The following day, the man returned, eager to find a solution to his problem. When he entered the saint's
room, he found the saint holding onto a pillar. The saint did not acknowledge the man and continued
holding the pillar tightly.
The man sat down and repeated his problem, but the saint remained silent, still gripping the pillar. Hours
passed, and the man grew increasingly frustrated, repeating his problem and demanding an answer. Yet, the
saint did not respond.
Finally, the man lost his temper and shouted, "What is wrong with you? I came here for help, and you are
just holding that pillar! Why won't you answer me?"
The saint calmly looked at the man and said, "I wanted to reply, but this pillar is holding onto me, and I
cannot let go."
The man, now fuming with anger, retorted, "What a foolish excuse! You are the one holding the pillar!
How can it be holding you?"
The saint smiled gently, released the pillar, and said, "Exactly, my son. You have found your answer. Just
as I was holding onto the pillar and not the other way around, you are holding onto your anger. Let go of it,
and you will find peace."
Moral:
We often hold onto our anger and let it control us. By letting go of our anger, we can find peace and regain
control over our emotions.
