Introduce Yourself!
Hello there! I am so nervous to meet you and introduce myself. Am I so anxious? I think I am because I feel like I am
dying from excitement! So I am Aysha and I am 11 almost 12 years old which means I am a grandma… I love coloring,
swimming, reading, and playing video games. I am in grade 7 it’s such an exciting grade. Lots of things to be
discovered! I love English, critical thinking and problem-solving, and a bit of science. But do I like math? It’s so hard. So
I am entering a swimming competition next month. Wish me good luck, please! I love cats just love them. I have a cat
called Koki she is 3 years old! I know sounds like she is a grandma but she is still a baby to me. I am happy to meet you
and hope you know me better now! Have a nice day!

2. What did you notice about your syntax and diction? Write 1-2 sentences.
I noticed that my diction was going to be great for a child to understand because I used simple words. Also,
my diction was informal because I used lots of (i). My syntax was arranged based on what I wanted to say.
So when you introduce yourself you first say your name and what age you are. Next people ask what are
your hobbies and that is what I wrote, then if a teacher asks what Is your favorite subject that would be
next. After that some people may ask about a certain hobby and I choose swimming and I talked about it. So
arranged my syntax based on what a real person would ask me to introduce myself.

Introduce Yourself!
Myself in one word? Unique. I am Rebecca. I was named after my great-grandmother, a woman who I only know
through stories – she was a force to be reckoned with, just like me. I am a daughter, a sister, an artist, and an athlete.
I find my comfort on the clay of a softball field: the sweetness of victory, the sadness of defeat, the sound of the crowd
and the support of a team make me feel at home. I love video games because I can escape into another world and
hate public speaking because I am as quiet as a mouse (unless I’m at home or singing in the car).

I noticed that I used a good mix of short and long sentences - the longer sentences reflected much more emotion, and
the shorter sentences were for effect, like when I described myself in one word. I also used strongly connotated words
and figurative language to give the reader an idea of who I am.
