"The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it, the world, and those who live
in it"
God is the ultimate owner of the entire earth and everything on it,
including all people, meaning we as humans, were place at the center of
Eden and was created to steward and care for creation as God's property.
The verse highlights that the earth belongs to God and is entrusted to
E. Biblical Principle
humans. Genesis 2:15: Humans are commanded to care for God's creation.
Leviticus 25:1-7: The land itself must be given a rest and not abused. It
means as stewards of God we are managers of that which belongs to
God, and we are under His constant authority as we administer His affairs.
This is our role as humans managing God's blessings, in God's way, for
God's glory.

Simple Recall
1. The teacher will ask about the student’s previous lesson
a. What are the factors affecting the climate
Altitude
Latitude
b. How do these factors affect climate
Factors affect the climate of an area:
 Ocean currents: The temperature of ocean currents affects the
amount of heat absorbed or released by the air.
 Distance from the sea: Coastal areas are usually cooler than
inland areas.

Atmosphere
Atmospheric circulation
The movement of air in the atmosphere is caused by differences in
temperature between the equator and the poles.
Prevailing winds
The direction of the wind can bring in cool or hot air, and can also bring
rain or dry weather.
Land

Topography
The shape of the land, including elevation and latitude, can cause local
climate changes.

Continentality
The degree to which a region is affected by the temperature and moisture
of a large landmass.

Human activity
Human influence: Human activity, such as cutting down trees, has
increased the impact humans have on the climate.

Other factors

Latitude
The latitude of a location determines the angle of solar radiation, the
length of a day, and exposure to high and low pressure belts.
Altitude
The higher the altitude, the colder the temperature.

Motivation
 The teacher will show a picture depicting two scenarios; the dried
and green land, and allow the learners to share their answer.

What can you say about the picture?

What type of climate is in the picture?
Between the two where do you want to live?
Activity 1: (By pair)
1. the teacher will show a video about the climate change through
YouTube. Allow the student five minutes to write freely in response to the
video on the causes and effect of climate change and the main factor why
global temperature increase.

Activity Activity 2: Picture Talk

The teacher will show pictures of different global climatic phenomena
like:
Burning fossil fuels
Cutting down forest

What is the picture all about?

The teacher will raise the following questions

Analysis What did you know already about the climate change?
What is the main factor why global temperature increase
Abstraction Earth’s climate has change dramatically. This topic and scenario is no
longer new to us. This has been the very hot topic now adays. (Go back to
the Picture 1)

What is Climate Change

 It is a natural phenomenon and has been occurring since the Earth
came into being
 It is a change in the average weather of a given area or region.
It has something to do with significant changes in global temperature,
precipitation and other measures of climate.
Experts says that Earth go through cooling and warming, the increase
of earths temperature is a natural occurrence caused by natural
processes. However, it can be enhance rapidly to other factors like
human activity.

Concept Map
Global Warming – an increase in the temperature of Earth’s atmosphere.

Causes
 Greenhouse Effect- is the process by which radiation from the sun is
absorbed by greenhouse gases and not reflected back into space.
(sunlight reaches the Earth – some energy is reflected back into space
– some re-absorbed as heat – most of the heat is absorbed by
greenhouse gases and then radiated in all directions, warming the
Earth)

The Greenhouse Gases

 Carbon Dioxide
 Nitrous Oxide
 Methane
 Water Vapor
 Chlorofluorocarbon
Are some of the greenhouse gases that are responsible for the
existence of life on earth. But if the concentration of these gases ,
earth will be at freezing point and life wont be possible but if the
concentration of these gases in the atmosphere will be beyond
normal this will lead to a phenomenon known as global warming or
enhanced greenhouse effect.

Now let us talk about the causes of global warming or enhanced

greenhouse effect (pictures from the activity 2).
1. Burning of Fossils – it refers to the burning of natural gases and coal to
generate energy when fossil fuels are burned, they releases large amounts
of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas.
Greenhouse gases trap heat in our atmosphere causing global warming.
2. Intensive Farming to Provide Crops & Livestock Raising –
producing more food out of the land that is already used for agriculture
often requires heavier use of nitrogen-based fertilizers which turn
release nitrous oxide emissions and contribute to climate change.
Fun Fact: “DID YOU KNOW THAT COW BURPS ADD TO GLOBAL
WARMING?”
3. Deforestation – the loss of trees and other vegetation that can cause
climate change, moreover, it may also cause soil erosion, fewer crops,
flooding and increase greenhouse gases.
4.Human Activities -
4.Human Activities – some human activities may lead to the increase of
greenhouse gases pollution, overconsumption, destruction of the reefs and
emission of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.

These are mainly the causes of global warming. If we cannot control and
minimize waste, it may lead to climate change.

Now let us talk about what will be the effect of climate change.
Climate change--
1. HUMAN HEALTH. Affects Human Health – extreme changes in the
weather and environment can increase existing health problems as well as
creating new ones.
2. PLANTS. Alter Plant Life Cycle – climate change alters the life cycle
of plants. For example, as temperature gets warmer, many plants are
starting to grow and bloom earlier in spring, and survive longer into the
fall.
3. ANIMALS – animals face new challenge for survival because climate
change there were animals that are waking from hibernation sooner or
migrating at different times
4. MELTING OF GLACIERS – melting of glaciers may add to the
rising of sea levels which in turn increase erosion and elevates storms.
5. PRECIPITATION – climate change will alter precipitation. Changes
in precipitation patterns will impact people and ecosystems by altering the
availability of water throughout the year. The predicted impacts of altered
include floods and droughts (El Niño and La Niña) will become more
frequent and more severe. Wildfires are expected to become stronger and
more common, changing the ecological processes and species distribution
in some aquatic habitats and may cause severe weather events.

CLIMATE CHANGE is the change in the usual temperature or the rise

in average surface temperature

So, What can we do to help lessen these effects?

Here are some things to consider first

1. reduce carbon emissions - practice walking in short distances, use
sustainable transportation such as bicycle or use public transportation.
2. Conservation of energy - conserve energy, cut down on important use
of energy at home, unplug appliances when not in use
3. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – practice three R’s
4. adopt a plant-based diet – increase your vegetable consumption.
Livestock is one of the biggest contaminators of the atmosphere, therefore
reducing meat consumption can lessen carbon emission.
5. use renewable energy – renewable energy often referred to as clean
energy. It comes from natural sources or processes. Installing solar panels
may help our environment.
6. Preservation of Forest – avoid illegal logging, instead plant more
trees. *REMEMBER: Forest is considered as the home of some organisms
throughout its life.
A single tree can absorb up to a ton of carbon dioxide.
7. Educate People – all efforts done lessening the effect of climate change
will be useless if people do not have knowledge how to take care of our
environment. The best way is to educate them about the dangers of
climate change and how to act against it(refer to the biblical principle that
human are God stewards)
