SERVICE INTERNSHIP

Today, I’ll be presenting my internship report, which was completed at SOS NGO,
Chhattisgarh. My internship spanned from December 15,2023 to January 06,2024, and I
had the privilege of working under the guidance of Miss Nupun mam. In this presentation,
I will walk you through my journey, the tasks I undertook, the experiences I gained, and
how this internship contributed to my personal and professional development.
SOS Children's Village is a renowned organization committed to the welfare of
children and their families, providing them with a safe and nurturing
environment. Established in various parts of India, including Chhattisgarh, the
NGO focuses on addressing issues such as child rights, education, healthcare,
and women’s empowerment. During my internship, I was fortunate to contribute
to their various initiatives, gaining firsthand experience of how an NGO operates
on the ground. The main objective of my internship was to understand the
organization's community-focused approach and to contribute meaningfully to
their ongoing projects.
SOS NGO's work in Chhattisgarh is focused on providing children in need with a
home, an education, and a future. The organization runs SOS Children’s Villages,
where children who have lost parental care are provided with a loving and stable
home environment. In addition to child care, the organization works to improve
the lives of local communities by offering educational programs, vocational
training, and healthcare services. A notable initiative I observed was the
community outreach programs, which aim to educate families about health,
sanitation, and child rights. It was inspiring to see the direct impact that these
programs have on the local communities.
During my internship at SOS children’s village I had the opportunity to be
part of a dynamic team dedicated to creating positive social change. Family
Strengthening Programme: One of the key initiatives at sos is the Family
Strengthening Programme, aimed at enhancing the overall well-being and
resilience of families. Through this program, the organization provides
resources, education, and support to families facing various challenges such
as poverty, substance abuse, and domestic violence. Child Rights
Presentation: As part of our commitment to advocating for child rights, we
organized a special presentation for children in the community. The
presentation aimed to educate children about their rights and empower
them to become active agents of change. We discussed topics such as the
United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), child
protection, education, and the importance of raising their voices. It was
inspiring to see the children engage enthusiastically and grasp the
significance of their rights. Field Visit: To gain a deeper understanding of the
issues faced by the community, I participated in a field visit organized by the
NGO. We visited several marginalized areas and interacted with families
directly impacted by poverty, lack of education, and limited access to
essential services. The field visit provided valuable insights into the daily
struggles faced by these communities and reinforced the urgency of the
NGO's work in empowering them. Presentation on Domestic Violence:
Recognizing the urgency of addressing domestic violence.
