The Four

Temperaments
Temperament is the natural way we respond to the world, influencing our
behavior, reactions, and relationships. There are four main
temperaments, each with its unique traits.

The sanguine personality is outgoing, energetic, and loves socializing.

Sanguines are typically cheerful, spontaneous, and sociable, often
becoming the center of attention in social situations. They have a
positive look on life and enjoy making new friends, but they can also be
easily distracted and forgetful. Their social energy makes them fun to be
around, though they may struggle with staying organized.

The choleric temperament is characterized by strong will and ambition.

Cholerics are natural leaders, driven by goals and competition. They
thrive in situations that require quick decision-making and action, but
their intense focus can make them seem bossy or impatient. Cholerics
often set high standards for themselves and others, sometimes pushing
themselves too hard in the patho to success.

Melancholic individuals are introverted, thoughtful, and sensitive. They

tend to be perfectionists, carefully planning and paying attention to
detail. While they are reliable and hardworking, melancholics can
sometimes be overly critical of themselves and others. Their sensitivity
can lead to feelings of insecurity or anxiety, but their depth of thought
makes them quite sensible.

Finally, the phlegmatic personality is calm, easygoing, and dependable.

Phlegmatics avoid conflict, preferring stability and harmony. They are
patient listeners and great at preserving peace, but they may appear
unsociable or less motivated than other temperaments. That’s because
phlegmatics strongly prefer to save their energy for greater use.

Each temperament offers strengths and challenges, and understanding

them helps us appreciate the diversity in human behavior.
