1. By the end of Queen Victoria’s reign, the British Empire stood as one of the largest empires in
world history, it held territories across every continent, controlling key territories such as
India, Canada, and Australia gave Britain significant economic and political clout, cementing
its status as a global superpower.
2. World War 1 affected Britain significantly, reducing the country’s wealth in less than 4 years.
Britain was in debt due to their borrowing of money from Britain. Another impact was the
lack of trade for Britain since they concentrated on trying to win the war, resulting in the
development of other country’s industries.
3. One of the reasons was the wide spread of knowledge on democracy, freedom, and
nationalism spread around the world in the 1800s, many people in the colonies started to
demand their independence.
4. This is because Rhodes had racist views about Britain’s superiority over other countries and
their people. He also introduced laws that pushed Indigenous Africans form their lands and
increased their taxes.
