THE BAD GUYS: GOOD AT
BEING BAD, BETTER AT BEING
GOOD.
REVIEWED BY PAUL, LUKE AND KATRINA
7+
In the movie world full of options, The Bad Guys stands out
as something special, promising a shocking twist for the
viewers. Released in 2022 and directed by Pierre Perifel and
stars Wolf (voiced by Sam Rockwell) and his best friends,
formally known as his partners in crime, Snake (voiced by
Marc Maron), Tarantula (voiced by Akwafina), Shark (voiced
by Craig Robinson), and Piranha (voiced by Anthony Ramos).
Of all the films I have watched, The Bad Guys has the biggest
plot twist, making it incredibly amusing to watch. It offers a
ride for our comedy and action lovers. While I was watching
it, I even bolted up in disbelief when the plot twist was
revealed.
Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, Ms. Tarantula, and Mr.
Piranha formed a close-knit group because they were all
treated like villains from the start. People feared them just for
being what they were—dangerous animals. No one ever gave
them a chance to be anything else. Tired of trying to fit in and
constantly being judged, they decided to lean into their
reputations and become the master criminals the world
already believed them to be. But deep down, they weren’t
truly bad—they were just misunderstood.
It takes place in a world where humans and anthropomorphic
animals co-exist. The Bad Guys are the most notorious
criminals in the city, and they plan their biggest heist yet.
In general, the bad guys are caught while they are trying to
steal the golden dolphin, although as they are being taken to
prison, Professor Marmalade suggests that he could help them
change. They try to pull off yet another heist at a gala, but
Wolf hesitates at the last minute of the heist because he has
transformed from the biggest con artist to a considerate
person. Suddenly the meteorite is stolen. Everyone suspects
that it is The Bad Guys who stole it, so they try to run away to
avoid being arrested, but unfortunately, they are caught. To a
shocking suprise, Professor Marmalade reveals that he is the
one behind the disappearance of the meteorite. The Bad Guys
are stunned to hear that, plus the good deeds Wolf had been
doing, breaking their bond between each other. Later, in their
prison, the crimson paw saves them and leaves with Wolf
while the others don’t want to do anything with him. Out of
anger, Snake joins Professor Marmalade, and they are up to
no good, capturing Wolf and the governor. The rest of the
group comes and rescues them. Snake instinctively switched
the meteorites so that no more trouble could be caused. In the
end, Professor Marmalade was caught and arrested.
I can confidently say that The Bad Guys has become one of
my favorites so, I highly recommend this film to anybody, it
will certainly be the best one you have ever watched!
