Jack
Some giant came from the sky to wipe out the entire village and its neighboring
farms. Jack’s father got taken away, and Jack was determined to find the giant’s land
and rescue Papa. He questioned the peddler, who gave him three giant beans in
exchange for the family cow (and last source of food). There are pixies, a greedy king,
an adventurous younger sister who follows Jack up the beanstalk, and a curse on giant
land that only Jack can break.
Let’s talk about the author. Liesl Shurtliff grew up in Salt Lake City, just like Jack in
the book. When she writes, she often wanders back to her childhood and gather the
magic that still remains. Two things she hopes to share with children is ‘friendship’
and ‘nothing is impossible’. I will talk about why these are the main points she
wanted to point out.
Friendship:
Jack made friends with a boy named Tom Thumb.
Annabella made friends with pixies ( something like a lot with wings )
Friends bring more happiness into our lives than virtually anything else. So
yes, Tom and the pixies provided happiness to Jack and Annabella.
Friendships have a huge impact on your mental health and happiness. Good
friends relieve stress, provide comfort and joy, and prevent loneliness and
isolation. Developing close friendships can also have a powerful impact on
your physical health.
Nothing is impossible:
Jack’s great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather conquered nine
giants and married the daughter of a duke.
Nothing is impossible. So why couldn’t Jack defeat the giants such as the king
in the giant world named King Barf?
There are ways that lead to everything, and if we had sufficient will we should
always have sufficient means.
“There are many things that seem impossible only so long as one does not
attempt them.”
― André Gide, Autumn Leaves
To conclude, this is a wonderful book to read and it is very exciting when Jack arrived
at the giant world, which I like. And I let out my breath as Jack defeated King Barf.
Thank you everyone !!!
Have a great day
