Differentiate and Discuss the functions of religion as a guide to daily life within the

framework of our existential reality.

According to Jeppe S. Jensen (2019) religion has influenced human lives since
prehistoric times, shaping the world views of culture from isolated tribes to vast
empires. He further went on to state that religion refers to a complex concept that
covers certain ranges of human behaviors, empirically as well as theoretically.
In our societies our first exposure to religion would be as babies, as young
individuals our families would often whisper a word of prayer over our lives. We are
taken to various places of worship to learn and better understand what and who
exactly is the driving force behind a person’s faith.
One of the big role religion plays is giving persons a sense of identity or purpose. It
helps persons to cope in difficult situations. Practices like prayer, meditation, and
communal worship can enhance mental health by reducing stress and fostering a sense
of connection. Kenneth P. focused on how religion are used as coping mechanisms
and psychological resilience, thus helping persons whenever they feel overwhelmed
or alone.
Another way Religion shapes individuals is by providing a moral background. This
helps with persons character and the way they present themselves. A survey from
Myriad surveys of charity volunteerism, and helping behavior found numerous reports
of behaviour that have positively reflected on persons behaviour when it come to
religion. An analyzed data from the Giving and volunteering in the United States
survey and Arts and Religion Survey Brooks (17) discovered that persons who pray
everyday, 83% give to charity, whereas the 53% of those who never pray.
