Italian Speaking Activities

for Quarterly, Midyear
or Final Exams
Speaking Exam for Quarterly Assessments,
Midyear, or Final Exams
Teacher Tips:
1. Read through all the situations and select 10-20 that you would like to
use with your students (or all 40 if your students are really advanced).
You can either star the situations that they need to know or modify the
document. You may want to pick some for the midyear exam and
some for the final exam.

2. Pass out the questions to the students. It doesn't matter if they see the
questions before the exam because they don't know which ones you
will pick and the more they practice speaking, the better.

3. Have them practice in partners in class. You may even want to go

over them in class. Have groups or pairs prepare 4-5 situations and
then have each person present one to the class or you could have
them write out a response to several situations for homework.

4. Show students the grading rubric ahead of time. When you are
practicing in class, you may want to give examples of what would be
considered an excellent grade, a good grade, or a poor grade.

5. For the exam, I based the speaking rubric as 20 points of the final
exam, but you can tailor the points on the rubric to fit the point value
of your exam. Take notes about the student's speaking on the rubric.
Write down any problems to discuss with them after they finish or
another day when you hand them back.

Thanks so much for purchasing these activities.
