FILM STUDIES EXAM

Present a film of your choice using the following analysis questions. Your presentation
should be filmed, the video must not be longer than 5 minutes. Please send it to :
zoly.rakotondravelo@ gmail.com by November 11, 2024.

Part 1 : The film, its content and themes

What is the movie really about?

What are its main themes ? Where do we first sense that theme developing?

What methods are employed to emphasize the theme(s)?

What lines seem most important? What images?

Does anything in the movie stand out as a metaphor related to the theme?

Part 2 : Quality of the movie

Consider the technical aspects of the movie. What are its strengths and weaknesses?
(location, lighting, music, color etc)

Does this movie take place in a world you recognize? Or does it ask us to accept a distorted
view of reality?

Part 3 : Your personal taste and opinion

Did you like or dislike the movie? Why?

What thoughts does this movie spur in you? What does it make you think about?

What is your emotional response to this movie?

Was there a part of this movie you didn’t understand?

Did anything happen in this movie that reminded you of something that has occurred in your
own life?

How might this movie affect different viewers? How would a man, women, child or an older
person view this movie differently?
