Sewing Supplies Checklist

Materials and Hardware
Exterior fabric: WxH:120cmx65cm (47”x26”)
Lining fabric: WxH:120cmx65cm (47”x26”)
Interfacing: Stiff woven fusable interfacing WxH: 65cmx120cm (26’’x47’’)
Zipper: Metal zipper-48cm (19’’) – main zipper
Strap 2Strap(polyester or cotton webbing strap or any similar material,you can make your own strap)
WxH:5cmx53cm(2’’x21’’)-5cmx35.5cm(2’’x14’’)
Slide adjuster 1 Metal slide adjuster - W: 5cm(2’’)

Recommended Fabrics
This pattern is best suited for heavy weight
fabrics such as Cotton canvas, gabardine,jean,
leather and etc.You can also use medium
weight
fabrics like american satin or zibeline etc, and
use interfacing for MAIN BAG as well.This pat-
tern is not suitable for knit fabrics or fabrics
with stretch

Printing Instructions
Let us print out the pattern.
There are 3 options on how to print out
the patterns:
A4 , US Letter ,AO

A4 and US Letter are tiled versions


which you can print at home on your
desktop printer.

AO size : Can be printed at copy shop


and saves time as it is one big sheet of
paper.

PRINTING CHECKLIST !

- Select your layers


-Enter print pages
-Orientation set to auto
-Set scale to 100%
-Print the Test Page
-Check your scale

The test square should measure


5x5cm (2 x 2”) . If it has the wrong
measurements , check your printer
settings and try again.

The pattern will not sew in the correct


size if the Test Square does not
measure correctly !

Important:

Do not open or print the pattern in


Microsoft Word

Print from Adobe Acrobat Reader only.

Use the corner marks to align each paper next to each other.

Cut all the pieces, clip the notches and iron


the interfacing pieces before start.

Step 1: Making the POCKET for lining panel

Fold the POCKET piece right side together from


the center and iron it.

Fold the sizes wrong sides together and iron it.


You can use something stiff like cardboard to help
you in ironing.
consider the side you are folding on it as wrong
side and others side as right side.

Fold 45 degree from corner right sides together


and sew the highlighted line and repeat it for
other corner then turn the seam right sides out.

Pick one of the lining MAIN BAG and draw pocket


area from pattern with your marking tools.
Pin wrong side of pocket to right side of lining
MAIN BAG, do topstitch very carefully 1mm (0.04’’)
from the egde.

Step 4: Adding slide adjuster

You should add slide adjuster to the longer


strap insert the strap at the top of the slide
adjuster and fold it toward inside about 1cm
(0.4’’) and stitch it.

Insert other strap into the slide adjuster and


tighten as it needed.

Final look of the step 1.

step 2: Sewing ZIPPER END

Mark 3cm (0.12’’) from tip and end of zipper.


Pin ZIPPER END pieces right sides together with
the zipper between them.
Sew from the highlighted line, then fold back toward
the ends and iron it

step 3: Sewing MAIN BAG

Pin one of lining and main fabrics right sides together


and put one side of the zipper in between them
(be sure that zipper slider and main fabric are
right side together).
Seam allowance for zipper area is 0.5 cm (0.2’’).

Do the same for other side as well and iron them

Topstitch on main fabric 1mm


(0.04’’) from the edge.

Step 4: Attaching SIDE PANEL

First you need to stitch the STRAP


CONNECTOR

Pin the widest part of the STRAP CONECTOR


pieces right sides together with the zipper
end
Stitch it 1cm(3/8’’) after the edge and
1cm(3/8’’) before the edge, then fold
toward back and iron it.

Repeat it for other side.

Pin SIDE PANEL part all the way to MAIN BAG face
to face(to make pinning easier, start pinning
from middle notch of SIDE PANEL to middle notch
of MAIN BAG and go up).

Sew SIDE PANEL to MAIN BAG (if you want you can do
a top stitch as well)

Repeat it for other side of SIDE PANEL

Note:You can turn the bag right side out by


opening the zipper.

Step 4: Attaching the lining SIDE PANEL

Pin lining SIDE PANEL part all the way to lining MAIN BAG
right side together.(to make pinning easier, start pinning
from middle notch of bottom to middle notch of side
panel and go up).

Sew the pinned area

For other side (lining) mark about 20cm (8’’) and dont
sew that part (prefarably, sew about 10cm (4’’) from the
top then mark the 20cm (8’’), so the open area will be
on the side not the bottom).

Note:Do not turn the bag right side out to stitch


the straps first .

step 5: attaching straps


see page 16 to make your own straps

Pay attention to the zipper sides, you


should attach the shorter end of the
strap to the end of the zipper, and the
longer end of the strap to the
beginning of the zipper.

Insert the strap from inside and take


it out from the hole you have between
the beginning of STRAP CONNECTOR
and SIDE PANEL part(main fabric).

Sew both straps

Turn it right sides out and iron the STRAP CONNECTOR area.

Do a cross topstitch on the STRAP CONNECTOR from corner


to corner and repeat for other strap

Final step: Stitching the lining hole

Take the lining out and pin back sides


together carefully
along the seam.
Note: Lining is right side
(your 1cm(3/8’’) seam allowance is
folded inside)

Top stitch it 1mm from the edge.

And your done!


Just put the lining in and close your zipper .

BONUS INSTRUCTION:
How to make your own strap

Cut 2 piece of fabric you like to use as your


bag strap in mentioned sizes:
2.8’’ (7cm) width and 22’’ (56cm) length
2.8’’ (7cm) width and 15’’ (38cm) length.

Fold each from the center right side together.

Sew highlighted line 1cm (3/8’’) from the edge.

Cut the highlighted area

Turn the pieces right side out( use a stiff and


long tool like a ruler to help you turn it easier)

The unstitched area suppose to be inside


the strap connector

You follow the instruction how to attatch it


to the bag and slide adjuster from step 5
