Defining Cyber Safety (slide 7): Cyber safety refers to precautions taken
to protect personal information and digital devices from online threats such
as hackers and to protect yourself from explicit content that you or your
family is not ready for. Why is it important? Cyber safety is important

because it helps protect individuals and organizations from online threats
that can lead to mental damage and compromised personal information. As
for who should be involved, everyone, including individuals, businesses, and
organizations, should be involved in cyber safety to ensure a secure digital
environment for everyone (Your Life: Parents’ guide to cybersafety, 2009).

Group Discussions(participants get placed in 2 groups, I'm leading

one in terms of discussion) (slide 8): Hello, I'm going to be focusing on
exploring explicit content in relation to you and your children's online
presence, speaking of which, what do you think explicit content is? Those are
all good answers, what I’ve come up with is that explicit content in this
scenario is defined as any content that is deemed not mentally safe for
children under the age of 18. It can include pornography, graphic violence,
hate speech etc

Now I'll ask another question, what do you think are the specific harmful
effects of explicit content? Those are all good answers. These are some
harmful effects I have thought of as well, exposure to explicit content can
lead to emotional and psychological harm. It can cause long-term effects like
anxiety, depression, and distorted views of relationships and reality. It could
also result in encountering malware, viruses, or scams linked to adult
websites. Sharing explicit content online can have lasting effects on your
digital reputation. Once shared, it is almost impossible to fully erase explicit
content from the internet.
