Methodology for EHS Project

Management
Objective
 To manage, monitor, and control the project in a manner that ensures it is injury-free,
incident-free, and without any adverse environmental impact, in compliance with ISO
45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015.

1. EHS Planning and Policy Implementation

 - Develop a site-specific EHS plan aligned with client/PMC standards.
 - Conduct Pre-Construction Risk Assessment to identify potential hazards.
 - Integrate environmental controls into project planning (noise, dust, waste, water
management).

2. Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)

 - Prepare HIRA documents for each activity before commencement.
 - Review and update HIRA monthly or when activity/methodology changes.
 - Implement risk control hierarchy: Elimination, Substitution, Engineering,
Administrative, PPE.

3. Training and Induction

 - Conduct EHS Induction for all workers and staff before mobilization.
 - Organize job-specific trainings: working at height, confined space, electrical safety, etc.
 - Schedule weekly toolbox talks and daily safety briefings.

4. Monitoring & Supervision

 - Appoint qualified safety officers (1 per 50 workers or as per contract).
 - Daily safety walks and weekly EHS audits conducted by the EHS team and client/PMC.
 - Use of EHS checklists for inspections (scaffolding, electrical panels, excavations, etc.)

5. Emergency Preparedness and Response

 - Maintain onsite emergency response plan (ERP) for fire, electrical shock, collapse, etc.
 - Conduct mock drills quarterly.
 - Display emergency contact numbers and evacuation routes at multiple site locations.

6. Incident Reporting and Investigation

 - Implement a zero-tolerance approach for unsafe acts/conditions.
 - Use structured incident reporting formats (near-miss, first aid, medical treatment,
LTI).
 - Investigate all incidents to find root cause and take corrective and preventive actions
(CAPA).
7. Environmental Management
 - Install noise barriers, use low-noise machinery, and restrict working hours near
sensitive areas.
 - Implement dust suppression measures: water spraying, screens, covering materials.
 - Ensure segregated waste management: recyclable, hazardous, organic.
 - Maintain drip trays for fuel storage and use spill control kits.

8. Documentation and Record-Keeping

 - Maintain registers for: PPE issuance, training records, HIRA logs, safety audits, waste
disposal logs, tool inspection reports.

9. Review and Continuous Improvement

 - Conduct monthly EHS performance reviews with project management and client/PMC.
 - Implement leading indicators (e.g., unsafe condition reports, near-misses) and lagging
indicators (e.g., LTI rate) to track performance.
 - Encourage suggestions from workforce and recognize safe behavior.
