OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this experiment is to design and analyze a C-R and R-C phase shift oscillator using an
operational amplifier (Op-Amp). The aim is to construct the oscillator circuit, observe the waveform, and
determine the frequency of oscillation through both time-domain and frequency-domain analysis. The
experimental results will be compared with the theoretical values given by:
1
f≈ for C-R oscillator
2 π √6 R C
1
f≈ for R-C oscillator
2π RC
REQUIRED PARTS AND EQUIPMENTS:
1.741 Op-Amp (1 pc).
2.Resistors (1KΩ, 10 KΩ,500 KΩ).
3. Capacitor 0.47uF (we use 0.22uF two in parallel).
4.Digital trainer board.
5.Multimeter and connecting wire.

Experimental Steps:
We connected the circuit as shown in Figure (A).
We measured the oscillation frequency of the output voltage.
We measured the phase shift between the different stages (V₀, V₁, V₂, V₃).
We reconnected the circuit for the R-C Oscillator by interchanging the R and C elements.
We repeated steps 2 and 3 for the R-C configuration.
We verified all the results obtained in the pre-lab tasks.
Answer To The Question No-1
Oscillation Frequency C-R Phase Shift Oscillator output:
Experimental Value Simulation Value Error
158.057 Hz 139.9188 Hz 12.69%
Here, we got 12.69% error in experimental value. We cannot get exact value of component in lab that why this
error we get.
Oscillation Frequency R-C Phase Shift Oscillator output:
Experimental Value Simulation Value Error
961.041 Hz 997.48Hz 3.65%
Here, we got a small error of 3.65% in experimental value.
