BELSTARS SELF HELP GROUP CONSTITUTION

1.NAME
The name of the self help group shall be BELSTARS SELF HELP GRROUP
Address is p.o.box 3923-30100 Kapsoya ,ELDORET
2.OBJECTIVES
1. Economic empowerment
2. Enhance education to members and its community
3. Access loans facility
4. Encourage saving habits for its members
5. Enhance community coherent
6. Provide forum for sharing ideas and knowledge
7. To do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the
attainment of all or any of the foregoing objective
3 MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to willing people who meet the following conditions;
1. Person over 18 years
2. Resident of Beliomo and its environs
3. Has a national ID
4. Law abiding citizen
5. Must pay a non refundable fee of shs500
Termination of membership
A member can terminate his or her membership after;
1. Giving a written notice to the secretary two months prior
2. No debt or liability in the group
3. A member terminating his or her membership is only entitled to 50% of
the total contribution made to the group.
Dismissal of a member
1. Failure to pay four consecutive monthly contributions without a
reasonable written explanation to the executive members.
2. Failure to attend four consecutive meeting without a reasonable written
explanation to the executive.
3. The executive committee has the power to dismiss a member
membership if that member’s conducts adversely affect the reputation
and image of the group.

4 OFFICE BEARERS
The group officials are
 Chairperson
 Vice chairperson
 treasurer
 secretary
 vice secretary
OFFICE RESPONSIBILITY
Chairperson
 Chairing all meeting
 Coordinating the office bearers
 Determine meeting quorum
 Preserve order in meeting
 Making decisions on matters arising

Vice chairperson
 In absence of the chairperson the vice chairperson assumes all the
responsibility of the chairperson.
 Perform any duty as directed by the chairperson
Treasurer
 Receives records and receipt all money belonging to group members
maintain financial records
 Records project financial records and expenses
 Maintains proper petty cashbook
Secretary
 Drafts agendas of the meeting
 Taking minutes of minutes
 Keeping groups records
 Issue notices convening all general and official meeting
Vice secretary
 In absence of the secretary the vice secretary assumes all the
responsibility of the secretary.
 Any other duty as directed by the secretary

4.ELECTIONS
Elections for all office position shall be done yearly on the general meeting.
The office bearers are eligible for re-election if the member is deemed fit to
continue serving.

5.MEETING
General meeting shall be done quarterly in a year
Committee meeting shall be done any time upon urgency
6.ACCOUNT
The group shall operate an account who’s signatories shall be the elected
members(CHAIPERSON TREASURER AND SECRETARY)
The Bank account will be opened at COOPERATIVE BANK-Eldoret branch
7.FINANCES AND EXPENSES
Groups finance will be sourced from;
1. members registration fee
2. members monthly contribution
3. donations
4. grants
5. investment
6. any other source approved by the members

The expenses incurred by any official or member shall be charged to the group
account to the lowest cost as possible.
8.DISCIPLINE
Every member of the group is expected to conduct themselves in a decent
manner whichever the case.
However failure shall be levied as per the group constitution as;
 Monthly contribution should be made by 10th of every month failure
20% penalty after every 10 days .
 Failure to attend meeting without a reasonable explanation shall be
fined ksh100
 Coming to the meeting late shall be fined ksh50
 Phone ringing shall be fined ksh20
9.C0NSTITUTION AMMENDMENT AND REVIEW
The current constitution shall be enforced to every member
However the current constitution may be subjected to review and amendment
at all deemed favourable and it should be approved by at least two third of the
members in a general meeting and should be implemented immediately .
10 .DISSOLUTION
The group may be wound up at any time by two thirds of those members
present and voting in a general meeting.
Any assets shall be returned to their provider
All account balance at the time shall be returned to members immediately.
11.BENEFITS
Investing in form of shares in order to get dividends
Working closely on welfare activities affecting members.

This constitution is binding to all members
