Role Summary
The Head Baker is a hands-on leader responsible for both baking and overseeing daily operations in
the bakery. This role combines craftsmanship with leadership—requiring technical baking excellence,
consistency, creativity, and the ability to guide and develop a team. The ideal candidate thrives in a
fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality baked goods.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the preparation and baking of a wide range of products including breads, pastries,
cakes, cookies, and specialty items.
• Monitor every step of the baking process including measurement, mixing, folding, proofing
and baking.
• Ensure all baked goods meet the bakery’s quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
• Work alongside the baking team during production shifts, setting the pace and standard.
• Train, supervise, and support bakers assistants.
• Develop and test new recipes in line with the bakery’s brand and customer preferences.
• Manage daily production schedules and delegate tasks to ensure timely order fulfillment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering of ingredients and supplies.
• Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
• Track and minimize waste, and optimize baking processes for efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills
• Diploma or degree in baking, pastry arts, or culinary management preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on baking experience in a commercial setting, with some
experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Mastery of a broad range of baking techniques (yeast breads, laminated doughs, cakes, etc.).
• Strong attention to detail and consistency in both product quality and production workflow.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coach and motivate a team.
• Physical stamina to work on your feet and lift heavy ingredients and equipment.
• Creative mindset with the ability to develop new products and troubleshoot recipe issues.
• Working knowledge of inventory management and basic food cost control.
