CSCI-100

Term Project

Due on April 21, 2024

Comprehensive Application of Microsoft Office for Data Collection and Presentation

Objective: This project aims to enhance students' proficiency in utilizing various Microsoft
Office applications for data collection, analysis, and presentation. Through creating a form in
Microsoft Forms, employing Mail Merge in Word for email distribution, and designing a poster
in PowerPoint to showcase findings, students will develop a holistic understanding of how
integrated software applications can facilitate effective communication and data presentation.

Tasks:

1. Form Creation and Data Collection:

o Utilize Microsoft Forms to design a survey that aims to collect opinions on a topic
of your choice. Ensure the form includes at least one question of each type:
multiple choice, text, rating, and date.
o The form should be designed thoughtfully to ensure clarity and ease of
understanding for the respondents. Consider the logical flow of questions and the
overall aesthetic of the form.
2. Distribution and Data Gathering:
o Prepare an email template in Microsoft Word that includes a brief introduction to
your survey, its purpose, and a call to action inviting recipients to participate.
o Use the Mail Merge feature in Microsoft Word to send this email to at least five
recipients. For the purpose of this assignment, use your classmates' email
addresses who have agreed to participate.
o Document the process of setting up Mail Merge, including the configuration of
the recipient list and the integration with your email client.
3. Data Analysis and Presentation:
o Upon collection of responses, analyze the data to identify key trends, preferences,
or insights gleaned from the survey results.
o Using Microsoft PowerPoint, design a poster that effectively presents the findings
from your survey. Your poster should include graphical elements (e.g., charts,
graphs), a summary of key findings, and a concise analysis of the data.
o The poster should be visually engaging and organized in a way that highlights the
most significant results and insights for easy comprehension by the audience.

Submission Guidelines:

 Submit the following documents in a single compressed file (.zip) named

YourName_MSOfficeAssignment.zip:
1. A PDF copy of the form questions and a summary of responses received.
2. A copy of the Word document used for the Mail Merge email template.
3. A PowerPoint file containing the final poster.
