During the seminar, the firefighters discussed several important topics

related to fire safety and emergency response. One of the first things they
explained was what to do in case of a fire incident. They taught us how to
stay calm, alert others, and evacuate properly. They emphasized the
importance of not panicking, quickly finding an exit, and helping others if it is
safe to do so.

They also discussed the different classes of fire and how to extinguish each
one depending on the source. For example:

Class A fires involve ordinary materials like wood, paper, or cloth.

Class B fires involve flammable liquids such as gasoline or oil.

Class C fires involve electrical equipment.

Class K fires are common in kitchens and involve cooking oils and fats.

Each type of fire requires a different method of extinguishing, and they made
sure we understood that using the wrong method could be dangerous.

Another important topic they covered was the proper use of fire
extinguishers. They showed us the different types of fire extinguishers and
explained that each one is designed for a specific kind of fire. They even
taught us how to identify the type of extinguisher by looking at its color and
the substance inside it. For example, some extinguishers contain dry
chemical powder, while others have foam, CO₂, or water.

They also demonstrated the “PASS" technique when using a fire extinguisher:

P – Pull the pin

A – Aim at the base of the fire

S – Squeeze the handle

S – Sweep from side to side

We were also taught what to do if we ever get trapped inside a burning

house or building. The firefighters instructed us to stay low to the ground to
avoid inhaling smoke, cover our nose and mouth with a cloth, and try to find
the nearest exit or call for help if escape is not possible.
Another important lesson was about what to do if our clothes catch on fire.
They reminded us to Stop, Drop, and Roll – stop immediately, drop to the
ground, and roll over to put out the flames.

During the actual drill, we were given the chance to apply what we learned.
We were able to use a real fire extinguisher to put out a controlled fire under
the supervision of the firefighters. They guided us as we performed the PASS
technique. It was my first time handling a fire extinguisher, and I found the
experience both exciting and educational.

After that, they also let us try using the fire hose from the fire truck. It was
heavier and more powerful than I expected, but it gave us a real idea of how
firefighters work during fire emergencies. The drill helped us gain confidence
and better understanding of how to act during a fire incident.
