Task:
The Assessment Task
PART A:
In the main part of this final report, you must detail the international business project
you are about to execute. The project is expected to be either a Market Entry Plan, a
Business Plan or a Literature Review (dissertation type of project). In this assignment,
you detail all the themes and approaches to your project, including your research
strategy and the main international business themes and models you used to critically
discuss all the relevant details.
While each project will be different, there is an expectation of a high level of detail,
critical analysis and deep awareness of the sector, company, market and other
international-business- related notions.
Your report needs to be detailed and specific enough to be doable. A business person
reading your final report should be able to execute your market entry plan or gain all
the insights from the case study/academic article. Your analysis of sector, company,
or international business theme should be detailed within the expectations of a final
report and the requirements of the word count. (This PART A is advised to be about
4500 words)
PART B:
Include your personal reflection on employability in an international business
context, based on your experience having thought, researched and written this final
report. Use this part to reflect on your preparedness to work in international
business, demonstrating your awareness of the potential for self-development. (Limit
this part B to 500 words) Assessment Guidance:
You should read the module materials/teaching slides/and the reports uploaded on Nile
and the related chapters in the key text book: International Business: Competing in the
Global Marketplace by Charles Hill, 2019. Please put yourself in the position of an
internal or external consultant! Your task consists mainly/eventually of giving a
recommendation regarding an appropriate market entry plan/strategy for an existing
business/company of your choice of any size and of any industry into a new
market/country for the first time!
General Guidelines:
Your final report must:
•be 5000 words in length, excluding references and appendices. Make sure to use
appendices strategically. You are allowed only 10% above or below the word count;
[4500 words for PART A and 500 for PART B]
•Follow the generic final report style uploaded on Nile. Including; executive summary,
and recommendations.
•Be evidence-based and critically evaluated and discussed. No description section is
accepted.
2
•refer to relevant theories and/or models to inform your project;
•be fully and correctly referenced both in the text and at the end using the Harvard
Referencing system.
What should I write in the ‘personal reflection’ section (500 words)? Personal reflection
is quite a personal part, so every student's will have a different focus. In general, it is
about you and how the IB project module/course had an impact on your knowledge,
experiences, and employability skills. So, basically, you need to demonstrate what you
have learnt; How effective was to learn that running a business internationally should
be considered differently. Also, how the in-class activities, the assessment, the
presentation have made you more confident and strengthen your presentation skills/
team work/ decision making/ problem solving skills ...etc. what concepts of frameworks
can help you reflect better on those issues? Also, feel free to add/highlight any new
experience/ knowledge that you have learnt from this module that you have not had
before. You can make it as a story telling section with more relevant to what I have just
explained.
