Sebastian: Ashish
Sumerian Princess (HR) – Princess Zara: Malavika
Head of British Defense Department – General Mike: Yashwanth
Sebastian’s Wife – Eva: Jyoti
Sebastian’s Assistant – Jill: Prarthna
Narrator – Mohit
Ethical Dilemma: Should Sebastian report the incident or just stay quiet?
Narrator: Sebastian was pacing in his office, reminiscing about the documents he stumbled upon by
mistake yesterday. Thoughts racing in his mind, unsure what to do, should he report this incident
about the bill of $15 million that does not make any sense or just keep quiet. So, he decides to call
his wife.
Sebastian: Hello!
Eva: Hello! How are you?
Sebastian: Not good. I am in a tricky situation.
Eva: What happened?
Sebastian: My firm, MidCo is charging more money and bribing the officials to win the contracts. In
the project report the budget does not add up. There is an extra charge of $2.5 million that does not
make any sense. Now, I am in a dilemma whether to tell all this and be a whistle blower or just keep
my mouth shut. The things that are happening here are going against my values. I have been a
military man, I always speak up and try to be righteous, and have always fought for what is right. I do
not know what to do.
Eva: You have never done any wrong and always fight for what feels right to you. You should
continue doing so and not give up on your values. One event should not make you question your
values. Stay true to yourself.
Sebastian: I think you are right. I cannot keep quiet in this situation. It does not feel right. You call
General Mike at UK Department of Defense and let him know of the situation.
Eva: Okay, I will.
Narrator: As Sebastian hung up the call, he did not realize his assistant was listening all along. His
assistant then goes to Princess Zara.
Jill: Princess Zara, Sebastian knows about your arrangement.
Princess Zara: Does he know that you know?
Jill: No, I came straight to you.
Princess Zara: Okay, call him to me.
Narrator: Jill tells Sebastian that Princess Zara wants to see him. Sebastian goes to Princess Zara.
Sebastian is afraid, whether he should confront Princess Zara or not. It was his values against his job
and possibly his life.
Princess Zara: Hello Sebastian, how are you?
Sebastian: I am good.
Princess Zara: Do you know why I have called you?
Sebastian: Yes!
Princess Zara: Then you should understand in order to survive in such an industry, it is important to
do this, even your firm knows this. You cannot get contracts without these favors.
Sebastian: Then I do not want contracts. I cannot work in an environment where values are not
respected. Everyone is getting compensated appropriately, skills and efficiency matter why are these
favors required?
Princess Zara: This is what you think, but the entire industry works or my idea, if you don’t listen,
then you can lose your job or maybe something more than that as well.
Sebastian: You cannot threaten me like this. I respect my values more than anything else, if it is like
this only, then sorry I cannot work here anymore.
Narrator: Sebastian leaves without listening further. He was scared whether he should stick to his
values or just keep his mouth shut. He then immediately calls his friend General Mike.
General Mike: Hello Sebastian!
Sebastian: Hi Mike, I am in a lot of trouble now. My firm is bribing the officials to get the deal and is
stealing from you as well, I want to get out of this. They are threatening me as well.
General Mike: Yes Sebastian, I know. Eva told me everything. They have been fooling us for so long
but not anymore. I am totally with you. Fly back to the UK, I will make all arrangement for you and as
soon as you come back, I have arranged a press briefing where you can disclose everything. We
appreciate your bravery and will protect you at all costs.
Sebastian: Thank you Mike! I cannot express how much this means to me.
Narrator: Sebastian was in an ethical dilemma, should he focus on his values or should he keep his
mouth shut for his life. There is one thing to understand here, it is our values which set us apart and
at the end of the day a person should reflect on oneself and see if they can live with the deeds they
have done. Sebastian did the right thing; he did not sacrifice on his values and was true to himself.
One should never tolerate any wrong doing and stand up for oneself. General Mike rose to the
situation as well and was a true friend of Sebastian. He knew something wrong took place and gave
his full support to Sebastian, which strengthened him further to do the right thing. The assistant and
Princess were not concerned about the values, they cared only about money. However, there is
much more to life than just money.
