Methodology

This chapter is focused on the locale of the study, Sampling design, data

gathering procedure and data analysis procedure used to accomplish the objective of

this study.

Locale of the study

This study was conducted at Mindanao State University-Main Campus, Marawi

City. Particularly in College of Agriculture. Mindanao State University was established

on September 1, 1961 RA 1378. , as amended, was the brain child of the late Senator

Domocao A. Alonto, as one of the government’s responses to the so-called “Mindanao

Problem” (source: University Students Handbook).

The College of Agriculture, Mindanao State University, Marawi City is one of the

twelve colleges opened in 1962. It was formally started in 1963 by Prof. Zacarias V.

Respondents

The respondents of this study, are the students who are currently enrolled in the

2nd semester 2017-2018 first year to fourth year students both female and male.

Sampling Procedure

The data was collected from both male and female students of College of

Agriculture, Mindanao State University, Marawi City taking Bachelor of Science (BS)

program. The total population of the students was nine hundred seventy one. To

determine the sample size, the researcher used the Sloven’s formula. The total sample

size is then computed as:

Sloven’s formula:

N

= 283.30≅ 283 respondents

The numbers of samples in each department are derived using the formula:

Research Instrument

The researcher used structural-survey questionnaire. The questionnaire is a

composed of five parts; the first one is the background information of the respondents,

the part II is contains toward the awareness of the respondents, part III questions is

associated with the buying habits of the respondents, part IV questions is the usage of

respondents and the last part is the attribute of respondents toward the toothbrush

product.

Data Gathering Procedure

During the conducting of this study the researcher required to distribute the

questionnaires in different departments in the college. Then the researcher personally

asked the respondents if they have a time to answer the provided questions and also

researcher face to face to distribute the questionnaires to the respondents to assist

respondents clarify the statement and to answer the questions that are not clear to

them. When the questionnaire completed to answer the respondents the researcher

collected the questionnaire as source of the tabulation.

Statistical Treatment /Data analysis

The researcher constructed a survey as instrument of the study to gather data

that is needed in the study. The gathered data were tabulated and analyzed using the

frequency and percentage distribution. The statistical tools were used to compute the

result of the study.

Relative Frequency (percentage)

Formula: P (%)=F/N x 100

Where:

P=percentage (%)

F=frequency

N= Total Number of respondents

100= constant
