Technical Director, Convocation Center Costal Carolina University Conway, South Carolina Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following full time position: Technical Director, Convocation Center (Production Manager II). This position is responsible for technical management and scheduling of all productions, programs and events in the Convocation Center of the new 130,000-square-foot Student Recreation and Convocation Center, a facility that will seat up to 3,600 people. The new facility serves as the Student Convocation Center and is the home of the Chanticleer basketball and volleyball programs and the student recreation facility. The Convocation Center Technical Director is a part of the technical team reporting to Wheelwright and Conference Services departments under the Office of University Relations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring that technical equipment in the Convocation Center is functional, maintained and operated properly and safely; coordinating arena scheduling including student life, Admissions programs, resident sports programs, summer camps and external use; organizing the technical production process; maintaining and operating of all technical equipment including lights, audio, rigging and stage areas in the Convocation Center; hiring, training, scheduling and supervising stage crew, technical crew and system operators for all productions and events in the Convocation Center; organizing the strike and clean-up for productions. Qualifications: Bachelors degree, preferably in technical theater or related field, with at least three years experience, preferably in a performance venue management with at least one year technical supervisory experience in an arena setting. Successful candidate will be able to communicate with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and clientele and have working knowledge of state-of-the-art audio, video and lighting equipment. Successful candidates should also have: knowledge of performance venue terminology and practices; excellent organization, communication and customer service skills; ability to train other employees; and ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures. Nights, weekends and irregular hours required.
