Current Account Sustainability

Does a current account deficit matter?
Yun Shik Park

Abstract: Sometimes a country will export their goods to another country, rather than importing them
and it causes current account deficits. The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of current
account in national economic development. As the world becomes more interdependent and
globalized, we cannot ignore the importance of a country s income and expenditure records the
current account. The current account is the point at which international economics collide with
political reality. When countries hold large deficits, businesses, trade unions, politicians, and
countries are often quick to blame their opponents and make changes regarding unfair practices.
Some economists argue that A large current account deficit is not a cause of concern if the fiscal
accounted are balanced, Lawson s Doctrine. Therefore, we don t need to worry about the current
account. However, the paper researched this matter for a more in depth understanding of the
economic concept of current account deficits.

I.Introduction
The current account balance is a part of the balance of payments. A country s current account balance
provides a measure of how much the country s position in international wealth
Federal Express ( Fedex )
Federal Express (FedEx), founded in 1971, handles countless packaging requests. In order for them
to remain competitive they customize their website FedEx.com to field questions received by
customers on a daily basis. FedEx has reduced costs by almost $2.00 per incoming call by using the
website. Customers are able to speak with a CustomerRepresentative if questions cannot easily get
answered on the website. Using the FedExwebsite instead of the call center FedEx has saved an
estimated 1.34 billion dollars a year.
FedEx has the latest technology offered. First, customers remain able to acquire instant updates on
their packages by visiting FedEx.com. Second, they can schedule pick ups at their convenience via
the website, and have emails sent to them showing some, or all updates occurring to their packages.
Since it is further cost effective using the website than calling a Representative the savings are
passed on in lower shipping costs. FedEx also offers a mobile application that, when downloaded to
your smartphone and can operate anywhere.
Another feature FedEx has is ESRI technology (esritv, 2009) to track packages; it is a
Geographical Mapping System that uses real time Technologies. For example, if a product that is
shipping is time critical, or Government sensitive material the ESRI system keeps FedEx up to date
on where the driver is. The driver also has a monitor that shows where the following destination is,
distance to the succeeding location, and approximate
Essay on Columbus and Indians
Regarding the article, Columbus, the Indians, and Human Progress, Dr. Howard Zinn argues that
there is another perspective to consider as to Christopher Columbus adventures. Dr. Howard Zinn s
position is that history books have omissions of slavery, death and innocent bloodshed that
accompanied the adventures of Christopher Columbus. In the following statements Dr. Howard Zinn
describes his perspective; The writer began the history, five hundred years ago, of the European
invasion of the Indian Settlement in the Americas. That beginning, when you read Las Casas even
if his figures are exaggerations (were there 3 million Indians to begin with, as he says or 250,000, as
modern historians calculate) is conquest, slavery, and death. When... Show more content on

They were willing to trade everything they owned. They were will built, with good bodies and
handsome features. They would make fine servants.... With fifty men we could subjugate them all
and make them do whatever we want . In this quote, Dr. Zinn gives what he believed to be another
motivation of Columbus, which was the motivation to make the Indians into slaves for monetary
gain. Dr. Zinn believed this to be the motivation of what he termed the Europe of the Renaissance .
Dr Zinn states; theses traits, speaking of the Arawak, did not stand in the Europe of the Renaissance,
dominated as it was by the religion of popes, the government of kings, the frenzy for the money that
marketed Western civilization and its first messenger to the Americas, Christopher Columbus.

Dr. Zinn references numerous accounts of innocent bloodshed, cruelty and the enslavement of
Indians by Columbus and his soldiers from De Las Casa s books prior to Columbus return to
Spain. Dr. Zinn records the following statements from De Las Casa book in which he says;
Endless testimonies ... prove the mild and pacific temperament of the natives. But our work was to
exasperate, ravage, kill, mangle and destroy; small wonder, then, if they tried to kill one of us now
and then.... The admiral, it is true, was blind as those who came after him, and he was so anxious to
please the King that he committed irreparable crimes against the Indians.... To please
Mindy Kaling Thesis
Annotation Essay Mindy Kaling is an esteemed Hollywood actress known for her roles as Jane
on Jane the Virgin and Kelly on The Office. Many people know her on screen but few know that
in addition to her acting she is also a scriptwriter. So, when Kaling was given the chance to pitch
ideas for the next Hollywood hit, she jumped at the opportunity. She went before a panel of
executives to share her thoughts for the next box office romcom, and was left both confused and
surprised by their lack of interest, with a counter that they were looking into movies that were about
boardgames. This experience prompted Kaling to write an opinion piece for The New Yorker and
called Flick Chicks, a satirical sequential essay that categorizes the inadequate... Show more content

A female who is not one hundred percent perfect looking in every way? You might as well film a
dead squid decaying on a beach somewhere for two hours. She then goes on to describe another
kind of female movie character, known as the Ethereal Weirdo. This is who Kaling describes as
the Manic Pixie Dream Girl. She uses description techniques to create the ideal version of a
character that puts an image in the mind of the reader. She wears gauzy blouses and braids. She
likes to dance in the rain and she weeps uncontrollably if she sees a sign for a missing dog or cat.
She might spin a globe, place her finger on a random spot, and decide to move there. Following
this anecdote, she refocuses the piece, stating that such an individual shows up often in movies
but never in real life. Kaling also plays to the common prejudice that females are meant to fit to
male ideals. Roles like that of the Ethereal Weirdo actually perpetuate sexism and degrade the role
of women in acting. She conveys this point through dry satirical elements, saying, She is essential
to the male fantasy that even if a guy is boring he deserves a woman who will find him fascinating
and perk up his dreary life by forcing him to go skinny dipping in a stranger s

Collecting data on social entrepreneurs is problematic for a number of reasons. For instance, the
nascency of the field means that there are relatively few (as compared with fields like commercial
entrepreneurship or family firms) potential subjects for those wanting to study founders of social
ventures. Moreover, due to the global nature of the field, social entrepreneurs tend to be a disbursed
group. Add to this the fact that there is little government mandated public information on most social
enterprises (as is the case with publically traded firms, for example), and one can understand why
few empirical studies on social entrepreneurship have gone beyond case studies. This is ... Show

While the GEM is, like the PSED, primarily concerned with tradition commercial entrepreneurship,
the study allows for some SocEnt research. Recent versions of the GEM individual level datasets
include the following question: Are you, alone or with others, currently trying to start or currently
owning and managing any kind of activity, organisation or initiative that has a particular social,
environmental or community objective? This might include providing services or training to
socially deprived or disabled persons, using profits for socially oriented purposes, organising self
help groups for community action, etc. Those respondents that answer in the affirmative may be
classified as social entrepreneurs and analysis may be conducted both within this sub sample, or
comparisons may be made with those that answered in the negative.3) Depending on your definition
of social enterprise (See our definitions page), IRS 990 forms may be an excellent source of
secondary. For instance, many consider social enterprise to be nonprofits using earned income
strategies. 990s are the tax forms that nonprofit organizations must file each year. Among the things
they must report are the sources of their income; i.e., how much did they get from donations,
government grants, membership dues, sales of goods/services, etc. With this, one may argue, for
example, that nonprofits with more earned income from sales of goods and services are more
Dark Shading In The Renaissance Period
Artists during the Renaissance period were very creative with their masterpiece. Any creation that
shows beauty and mystery is a form of art. From painting portraits of beautiful scenery on canvas, to
sculpting a marble statue of gods, and enhancing beautiful architect. During the Early Renaissance
period through the High Renaissanceperiod, artists painted biblical figures to mythical stories, such
as Hans Baldung Grien art of the Witches Sabbath, which was created out of a panel of wood. His
work of art displays a mythical story that people believe were true, Witchcraft . Hans Baldung Grien

The cat that is lying next to the dying tree has always been associated with witchcraft. It was
believed that witches would shift into a cat or shift their victims into a cat. The staffs that are

The Mammy As A Archetype
African Americans have consistently been the target of cinematic and television comedy.
Considering African American women, the Mammy has emerged as an icon throughout the 20th
century, representing the foil to American white women (cf. Atkinson, 2004: 3). Having its roots in
antebellum Southern America, the Mammy was an important figure in the socialization of white
Southern children (DelGaudio, 1983). Considerably, various depictions of the Mammy present her
performing arduous domestic duties in the household of their slave owners. Therefore, the Mammy
replaces the white lady in educating and taking care not only of the white children but also of the
home (cf. Jewell, 1993: 38). In their work, Jennifer Bailey Woodard and Teresa Mastin stand... Show

Therefore, she enjoys high prestige in terms of human values, why she is more or less a respected
person in the Caucasian family to which she belongs. Nonetheless, the Mammy archetype is filled
with paradox. On the one hand, she surely enjoys independence and embodies positive attributions
such as kindness, benevolence, and reliability. On the other hand, as Parkhurst states, she is, inter
alia, tyrannical, possessed with a temper, and harsh. In her work, Julia S. Jordan Zachery argues,
the Mammy needs aggressiveness in order to maintain the status quo, in her relations to other slaves
to prevent their co optation of her (2009: 37). Further, she clearly has to display authority over other
slaves in order to protect the white family of any probable danger, particularly from other blacks.
However, the Mammy would never show her harshness and aggressiveness towards the white family.
Thus, she is constructed as fiercely independent, aggressive and powerful, [but] all within limits
(ibid. 38). By means of her tyrannical manners, she positions herself above African Americans,
particularly above African American
