Causes Of Teen Suicide
What is the only way to not feel bad is to stop feel anything at all, forever? Thirteen Reasons Why,
Hannah Baker. This show is very well taught out about teens feeling to commit suicide. As a
community we can look at the statics of suicide, the leading cause, the signs and symptoms, and how
to prevent suicide. Suicide is one if the leading causes of death in the United States, taking the
lives of approximately 43,000 Americans each year. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in
the US. Each year 44,193 Americans die by suicide. For every suicide 25 are attempt. Suicide
costs the US $51 Billion annually. The annual age adjusted suicide rate is 13.26 per 100,000
individuals. Men die by suicide 3.5x more often than women. On average, there are 121 suicides per
day. Firearms account for almost 50 percent of all suicides. The next common methods were
suffocation at 26.8 percent and poisoning at 15.4 percent. (Suicide Statistics).
There is no single reason why someone may try to take their own life, but certain factors can
increase the risk. Someone may be more likely to attempt suicide if they have a mental health
disorder. About 90 percent of people who commit suicide have a mental illness at the time of their
death. Depression is the top risk factor, but there are various other mental health disorders that
contribute to suicide, including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
(Suicide and Suicidal Behaviors).
Aside from mental health disorders there are several
Fire In The Ashes Analysis
Encountering Resiliency in Families and Youth of South Bronx
Jonathan Kozol s Fire in the Ashes is an honest depiction of the hardships and triumphs of families
in the South Bronx, New York. In this book, Kozol introduces us to several Hispanic and Black
families that he originally met in the Mott Haven/Martinique Hotel in the 1980 s and allows us to
view their trajectory in the proceeding 25 years. By allowing the reader a look into the lives of these
families, he provides us with a realistic depiction of the disadvantages families living in poverty
encounter despite interventions from charity organizations and philanthropic donors. Kozol
identifies that without systematic justice and systematic equity in public education (Kozol, 2013, pg
304) students in these impoverished neighborhoods will continue to lack the same economic
opportunities that may potentially lead them out of the welfare system. Kozol emphasizes lack of
stable housing, and unequal educational opportunities, as primarily conditions to perpetuating
poverty. Despite the challenges that the families endure, Kozol is able to show that they are resilient.
Kozol begins the book by providing a backdrop of where he met many of the families, in the
welfare hotel Martinique Hotel in December 1985. The Martinique Hotel was initially advertised as
a temporary living facility, or a shelter, where 1400 children and about 400 of their parents struggled
to prevail (Kozol, pg 3). Families in these welfare hotels fell prey to the corrupt Koch administration
that took advantage of Federal emergency housing funds to put them up in hotels after demolishing
other low income homes (Anonymous, 1989). In the Martinique he illustrates the inhumanities that
occurred on a daily basis such as robberies, sex trafficking, substance use and the described the
decrepit living conditions where the residents resided. Kozol identifies a family, Pietro Locatello,
whom sought shelter at the Martinique. Although Pietro tries his hardest to provide safety and
inclusiveness in his small one bedroom hotel room he is unable to save his son, Christopher, from
the allure of, what begins as pan handling for change, to potentially being sex trafficked and
involvement lifelong
Taste Buds Research Paper
All taste buds have very sensitive microscopic hairs that are called microvilli. These small hairs
send messages to the brain about what something tastes like, so you know if i happens to be
sweet, sour, bitter, or salty. The average person has about 10,000 taste buds and are replaced about
every 2 weeks and that is at the start the number slowly goes down so older people have less and
can not tastethings as well. Taste buds will not last you your whole life, so don t do things to loose
them quicker such as burning your mouth with things such as coffee, hot chocolate, or pizza. Your
taste buds are constantly regenerating, so once they die they will grow back on average taste buds
die and grow back every 10 14 days. One of the reasons that
A Christmas Carol Analysis Essay
Every year at Christmas, people who celebrate the holiday place emphasis on giving to those less
fortunate than them and spending money on family and friends. The exception to that would be
Ebenezer Scrooge, that is, before he was visited by three spirits. This past month, I read the book A
Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. For this analytical essay, I chose to write about a character
from the novel and how the character has evolved from the start of the novel to the end. Ebenezer
Scrooge, the protagonist of A ChristmasCarol, has evolved throughout the story in that in the
beginning, he despises Christmas, loves money, and turns people away from him; in the middle,
when the three spirits come to him, he begins to repent his attitude and ways; and, in the end of the
novel, he has fully changed and enjoys the Christmas holiday and gives to others. At the start of A
Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge despises Christmas, loves money, and turns people away from
him. An example of Scrooge s despising Christmas, as well as his loving money, is when his nephew
visits the counting house on Christmas Eve to wish Scrooge a Merry Christmas, and the two men
get into an argument about their clashing opinions on Christmas. Come, then, returned the nephew,
gayly. What right have you to be dismal? What reason have you to be morose? You re rich enough.
Scrooge, having no better answer ready on the spur of the moment, said, Bah! again; and followed it
up with Humbug.
Don t be cross, uncle, said the nephew.
What else can I be, returned the uncle, when I live in such a world of fools as this? Merry
Christmas! Out upon merry Christmas! What s Christmas time to you but a time for paying bills
without money; a time for finding yourself a year older, but not an hour richer; a time for
balancing your books and having every item in em through a round dozen of months presented
dead against you? If I could work my will, said Scrooge, indignantly, every idiot who goes about
with Merry Christmas, on his lips, should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake
of holly through his heart. He should! (Dickens, 5 6). This quote shows that Scrooge believes
Christmas is a nuisance in that, despite being
The Theme of Leadership Portrayed in The Odyssey and the...
Built in qualities such as intelligence, good looks, height and so on are not necessary to become a
good leader. Anyone can cultivate the proper leadership qualities. In order to excel in their
leadership a good leader must possess qualities such as self awareness, courage, confidence,
innovation, fairness, openness, and dedication among others. Odysseus in The Odyssey, and Samuel,
Saul and Davidin the Books of Samuel, display these characters. However, at some occasions they
fail to do so. That is to say, leaders, being it great or small, chosen by God or people, are not
completely perfect.
Self awareness is one of the leadership qualities portrayed in The Odyssey and the Books of Samuel.
Odysseus possesses this quality. Several times ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He shows he is weak and not ready to lead. (1 Samuel 9:21). Saul even hides when he is supposed
to show himself to the Israelites as the chosen King (1 Samuel 11: 22). Although Saul knows that
he cannot lead, he has no choice, he has to follow the Lord s order. At last, God realizes that Saul
was indeed not a leader type person and chooses another person. God must have known that people
are not forced to be leaders, but they themselves should be aware of the ability to be leaders.
Confidence is another trait a leader should possess. Both Odysseus in The Odyssey and David in
the Books of Samuel demonstrate this quality. They have belief in their abilities to meet most
challenges that come their way. Odysseus never believes a person initially, being it mortal or
immortal. He always likes to be done in his way. Odysseus believes in himself rather than
anybody else. He wants to figure what to do for himself and not someone else do it for him. For
instance, he argues with Calypso and Ino because Odysseus did not believe them initially, but
wanted things to be done his way (Book 5, line 180 line 370). Moreover, David, another God
chosen King of Israelites, shows confidence when he tells Saul that though he (David) is young, he
can fight the giant Philistine warrior, Goliath (1Samuel 17:32 37). However, David confidence is
from the fact that God is on his side and will not let him down.
Courage is also needed in a leadership. This quality is portrayed in The
Internet Is More Important Part For Communication
INTRODUCTION:
Internet is getting more important part for communication. Internet is very powerful platform that
has changed way we communicate. The internet has become a globalized communication media. But
at the same time, computer hacking is increasing very rapidly.
Hackers are people, who try to get unauthorized access to the system. We can protect our systems by
using firewall and anti virus software. But some users access internet for some very confidential
work, using firewall and antivirus are also not sufficient to keep communication secure.
A security is deals with the three ideas:
1)Prevention: The main purpose of this is, we have to stop the attackers. Consider a day to today
example, House, can be keep secure by preventing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technically we use these ideas in all security aspects. For example, the military, as it is important to
know enemy, what strategy he/she uses to hack, what tools he/she use to hack and what s his/her
aim is for.
Another example, Internet online banking, social networking or other services, you may be in the
risk of hacker from personal information and confidential information. Hacker may access your
information through unsecured connections or by virus software and then use your personal details
for their benefit. This may lead a very serious trouble.
For this problem the only solution is to detect the hacker and prevent hacker from the sites or just
block the IP address of the hacker. To gather as much as information as possible and detect the
attacker. This we can do with the Honeypot tool.
The goal of Honeypot is silently collect the information as much as possible about their attack
patterns, used programs, purpose of attack and block the community.
A Honeypot is used in computer and Internet security. It is a resource, which is intended to be
attacked and computerized to gain information about the attacker, and used tools. It a honeypot is
successful by gathering the information, intruder will have no idea that he/she is being scanned and
monitored. Honeypots are installed inside firewalls, so they can control in better way, though
firewall it is possible to install
Lancet Tone Deafness
Tone Deafness
Few people know the range of the different types of tone deafness. However, many people think
they have it. Tone deafness is does not refer to a problem with the ears, but to a lack of training.
Tone deafness is easy to fix by training the ears and the vocal muscles. Lancet is a music professor
in Boston who is tone deaf (Lancet 2001). Lancet express, tone deafness is a term that tends to be
applied indiscriminately to a constellation of music processing, perceptual, and production deficits
(Lancet 2001). This paper will examine the tone deafness real life terms, the past and current research
, and current direction which all contribute to its need for exploration.

Singing is optional. Reaching for things is not. We all develop hand eye coordination as a part of
our basic survival skills. Nevertheless, we could go our whole lives without singing and be fine.
We want to sing, but we have to make a conscious effort to learn. Some people make this effort as
children, and we assume they were born with it. This is not so. As with anything, it comes more
naturally to some than to others, but we all have to learn. Numerous people believe that tone
deafness does not exist. Many people believe that they are tone deaf (Lancet 2001). Nevertheless, I
do not believe that they are tone deaf, in other words, people who will never be able to learn to
distinguish between notes.
Many of the tone deaf people have been able to work on their problem, and by correcting their
singing techniques, as well as releasing their constrictions, they have learned to sing in tune. Tone
deaf singers often have severe constrictions around their vocal cords (Gandour, 2000). Usually
they have had these tensions for such a long time that they no longer feel like tensions. A person
often finds psychological reasons for these tensions (Gandour, 2000). Gandour states, frequently a
singer has been thoroughly deprived of his or hers self confidence regarding the voice (2000).
One can lose his or her self confidence for many reasons. For example, I was singled out as the one
in the church choir who was spoiling the sound of the choir and by being the
