Blocked Account Analysis

The document compares two blocked account providers for expatriates in Germany: Expatrio and Coracle. Expatrio offers a default AION bank account that simplifies fund access upon arrival, while Coracle requires users to navigate a more complex process to open a bank account independently. Overall, Expatrio is recommended for its ease of access to funds and additional services, despite being slightly more expensive.

Detailed analysis, Pros & Cons of Blocked

account Provider

Expatrio: - Total – 12133

http://www.expatrio.com?f=vijayy3 Coracle:
- 992 monthly*12=11904 https://coracle.de?ref=R-MEOX
- 60 for 12 months maintenance fee (5 - 992 monthly*12=11904
euros per month)
- 59 fee booking
- 69 opening charges ( it will return ) when
- 80 buffer amount ( it’ll return ) after 1
you activate
year
- 100 buffer amount ( they’ll return ) after
- They say no monthly charges but
1 year
- Total – 12043
on a broad calculation Expatrio is 1 euro more but the benefit after reaching Germany are
very good

Both providers provide same service but

Main difference comes after reaching Germany which everyone aren't aware of when we are
in India I was also not aware of

- Expatrio provide AION bank account when we take up blocked account with them
- So this helps in activating bank account and receiving funds from the day one in Germany
with just uploading visa
- Other important thing to do this process is to have German SIM card
- Which we will receive at VFS center at onevosco desk with 1 month free recharge
- So everything is in our hands if we opt for Expatrio

Now let me explain the Coracle:

No doubt it also offers same service same health insurance etc,etc
But main draw back is
- We need to enter the bank account details by us since there is no default bank account
providers for Coracle
- But this not the main problem so the problem getting bank account is not an easy task in
Germany by self
- It requires major documents like City registration (which we get by booking appointment
where getting appointment is one more task because to find the city registration appointment
at Rathaus is not in our hands it depends upon availability of slots as same as previous vfs
slot booking process), Tax ID which we receive < or > 10 days after city registration is done
through post
- After getting all these documents we need to book appointment at bank to open bank
account which is also slot basis or weekly basis or any other criteria
- after successfully getting bank account we need to upload it in Coracle app and we will get
the funds to bank account which we have created

To overcome problem with bank account link up with Coracle students use Wise bank or any
other online bank providers link N26 but I need to know the account opening process is these
online banks

Since this is little different and difficult process I suggest mostly for opting expatrio because
funds in the initial days are pretty important to pay rent and deposit because landlords don't
want to listen our problems

I am not offending for people who want to take Coracle

I just wanted to convey the pros and cons since I have seen the both sides
Hope you understand and open for any type of corrections regarding the text
which I have provided

Since we are getting free SIM card from VFS

It would be an unnecessary expense for us to buy SIM card at the airport
one more point that few famous and cheap SIM cards at Germany also require Bank account
to create SEPA mandate for 24 months contract
So finally if you miss to collect SIM card from VFS center you need to perform one more
circus activity to get cheaper SIM card after reaching Germany
