Red Riding Hood Comparison
Characters from same story can show can different character attributes than other versions of the
story. For instance red riding hood and the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood by the Brothers
Grimm differ from red riding hood and the wolf in the film Red Riding Hood directed by
Catherine Hardwicke. The wolf in the movie goal is for overall power while the wolf in the story
is for his greed or desires. The red riding hood in the movie wants to marry peter and be happy
while the story red riding hood wants to make her grandmother better. The wolf in the movie at the
beginning was The Caregiver but uses that to mask his true nature of being the ruler who only seeks
power while the story showed the wolf as tricky and deceiving. In the movie the
The Salem Witch Trials Of 1692 And The Salem Witch Trials
According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Everyone is entitled in full equality to a
fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in determination of his rights and
obligations and of any criminal charge against him (UN General Assembly, 1948). But history has
demonstrated that even though as human you are entitled to a fair trial, you are not entitled to
justice. Throughout history, many reforms and movements have forged our judicial system, the
judicial system currently is undeniably more foolproof than it was before the 1900s. Even though
the system has improved in numerous ways by laws and amendments such as the 6th amendment in
1791, but history repeats itself. The SalemWitch Trials of 1692 and the Scottsboro BoysTrials are
embodiments of this saying, they may have happened 240 years apart but have many things in
common. Some things these trials have in common are insufficient evidence, unfair chances, and
long term effects on the victims and community. In the Salem Witch Trials, evidence of someone
being a witch was often miniscule, individuals were determined as witches by suspicion, weird
behaviors and association, two little girls were pressured into accusing 3 individuals of witchcraft
because they were said to be acting supernatural by doctors (Blumberg, 2007). Similar to the
Scottsboro Boys Trials because the ladies were pressured into falsely accusing nine black individuals
for rape and since they were blacks
Deep With Unpretty
Go Beyond Skin Deep with Unpretty by TLC
What is defined beautiful or pretty is an ever evolving door. What is in style today can quickly be
rejected tomorrow and every woman is left confused while continuing to chase the ideal set upon
them by media and popular culture. Thirteen beauty trends of the 1990s are recorded and
collectively presented via picture slides on Elle magazine s website titled, 25 Years of American
Beauty Trends. An example of a trend Elle stated, Instead of making a statement with a shoulder
padded 80s power suit, you could chop off your locks into a boyish crop ( 25 Years slide 5). Another
trend satirically presented was, In the late 90s flatironed strands were the way to go and God forbid
you tuck them behind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The choice to follow these norms is not so much an exercise of freedom as it is a concealed trick
into slavery. Sometimes what is perceived as good and acceptable is not what it appears to be.
Hans Christian Andersen s tale of The Emperor s New Clothes shows us the danger of mindlessly
following the crowd. As the old story goes, the emperor needed new clothes and although it was
apparent to the crowd that his two hired weavers hadn t really given him invisible clothes, everyone
from the emperor s ministers to the townsfolk remained silent. It took a little child at last to exclaim
the truth no one would say. This short tale was originally published in 1837 and has since been
translated into hundreds of different languages. A hundred and seventy nine years later, let us not
continue to be a society of silent ministers and townsfolk pretending for the sake of
The Importance Of Paganism And Christianity In Beowulf
Religion, to some people, is a huge part of their everyday lives. Throughout time religion has played
large roles in history. The entertainment in which people indulge in can stem from religion. Before
modern time religion was the center of most people s lives. Being in the church was the most
important thing, if they did not have the church, they had nothing. Religionhas influenced writing,
songs, plays, movies, and architecture. Now the most common religion is Christianity. However, it
was not always like that. Paganism ruled parts of the world for some time. Paganism and
Christianity influenced the story of Beowulf. The differences in the Pagan and Christian religion
can contradict themselves and leave the question on which religion the epic belongs to. Beowulf
is an Epic Poem that was told by mouth for centuries. The poem tells about an amazing human
who could do inhuman things. Known for his strengths, he was a hero to many. Beowulf had
superhuman strength was not categorized as having super powers. To further show what Beowulf
was known for across Kingdoms Burton Raffel translates, ...themselves, Have watched me rise
from the darkness of war, Dripping with my enemies blood. I drove Five great giants into chains,
chased All of that race from the earth. I swam In the blackness of night, and killing them one by
one... (Kinsella 246 253). Beowulf implied in the quote he knew how strong and heroic he was.
Beowulf was the only one who could take Grendel down, and he
Reflection Of Sigmund Freud s Theory Of Art
Sigmund Freud established and originated the psychoanalysis with the emphasis on helping the
patients of neurotic illnesses. Freud formulated his method through Joseph Breuer s hypnotic method
that is the free association. He revolutionalized the ideas of how the human mind works; He
challenged the long standing identification of the self with the conscious thinking subject. Freud
established the theory of the unconscious. This becomes a controversial one that is comparable to
the Copernican revolution that the sun is the center of the universe and Darwin s theory of
evolution that man is a descent of the apes; in this analogy, Freud, argued that a large part of what
makes up the mind is often hidden from the subject person as a conscious... Show more content on

The first part is an exposition of Sigmund Freud s aesthetic theory. This discussed the beginning of
Freud s perception of art as an escape to reality. However, of all the works of art, Freud give high
regard to literature for it forms some kind of apprehension what exactly it is unlike those of
paintings that affirmatively can evoke an effect or a feeling but it does not have the sense of
apprehension in it. It is also in this part that Freud s formulation that a poet is regulated by both
the fantasy and reality as he proposes the first poet and the second poet . In the second part of the
part of the chapter, discuss the three fold personality structure of personality, the id, the ego, and
the super ego. The id is the seat of the unconscious, it comprises of the desires and the wishes that
are seeking for fulfillment, and it primarily conforms to the pleasure principle. The ego is the
rational conscious part. It acts as the intermediary between the super ego and the id as well as
strive for the fulfillment of the demands of the id, the super ego, and the reality. Unlike the id the
ego is regulated by the reality principle. And the super ego is developed with the help of the
external influences that which is taken from the other people external authority. It mainly
concerns on the operation of man in the society. And on the latter part, it states that an art is
produced with the influence of the three fold personality structure. The id is the source of
inspiration, the ego gives an art a unity and the super ego makes an art to be a form of
sublimation. The last part of the second chapter is the two mental functioning. The primary process
conforms to the id while, the secondary process serves as a guide to the ego. These two are related
to the pleasure and reality principle, respectively. Any work of art is working towards the
reconciliation of the pleasure and reality
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr s words on April 3, 1968 at Mason Temple in Memphis Tennessee
speaks through the ages and still grips me with an eerie feeling of prophetic conviction. King s
stirring words that night were classical pieces of rhetoric that will be preserved as a place mark
for the civil rights movement. When a sick, but yet powerful King bellowed out to the audience I
may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the
promise land! ; he was eerily suggesting that his life may possibly be ending soon but the
movement continuing. This part of the speech is moving but yet stirring, and to many of the
people in attendance that night, disturbing. Here is this iconic figure telling a packed
congregation of weary, yet persistent people that he may not make the journey into the land that
produces a brighter day and better opportunities. This likens to the biblical story of Moses. After
leading the Children of Israel out of bondage for so long and tirelessly working to get them to the
land of Canaan Moses is told by God that he will not be the one to lead them into the land flowing
with milk and honey and that he will not enter therein at all. It is unnerving to think that Martin
knew that his time was at hand. That he had led his people as far as he could lead them. The
melancholy mood brought on by the thought of King s premature death turns into an emotional cry
of self assurance but also a dramatic exhale and a
Swot Analysis Netflix
Netflix is a company known around the world. It started with humble beginnings, and popped on
the scene and not only reinvented the way we watch movies at home, but took over the industry.
In this case I will analyze the Video On Demand or VOD industry using Porter s Five Forces
Model and conduct a SWOT analysis on Netflix. I will also discuss why Netflix has been so
successful, what their competitive advantages are, some of my personal recommendations, and
finally any strategic advantages CEO Reed Hastings should pursue on the future. Using Porter s
Five Forces Model I am going to analyze the VOD industry, Porter s model is made up of
economic powers of customers, economic power of suppliers, direct competitors, potential
competitors, and finally firms that offer substitutes. In the VOD industry I believe the customer
have a high economic power. The top three streaming services in the industry are, Netflix, Hulu,
and Amazon Video Services. If the customer deems the price too high they can simply leave, and
because customers aren t required to sign a contact they can simply stop services. Which will
cause the number of users to fall and profits to decrease as well. Next in Porter s model is economic
power of suppliers. The industry as a whole is very large, Netflix had 76 million users in 2016,
Amazon had 44 million in 2015, and Hulu had 9 million in 2015. The suppliers (Netflix, Amazon,
and Hulu) don t have a huge power, across the board all three services are
Symbolism In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
In the novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Gabriel García Márquez uses symbolism as a means of
creating a foreboding atmosphere. The entire novel is driven by symbols that show the ominousness
in things and events throughout. The augury of these actions can also be seen as the technique of
foreshadowing. Apprehensiveness in the atmosphere is created at the very beginning when the
murder of Santiago Nasar is revealed to the reader with the phrase, On the day they were going to
kill him... (Márquez, 3). However, throughout the novelthe author maintains a foreboding
atmosphere by only divulging pieces of information at a time, and not revealing the entire story until
the final pages of the novel. To enhance the foreboding atmosphere, Márquez... Show more content

This is used to represent the townspeople s feelings of guilt over their betrayal to Santiago as they
made no effort to prevent the murder. When Pedro and Pablo Vicario are murdering Santiago, it
is Pablo s delivery of the only stab in the back (Márquez, 118) that triggers this pungent odour, as
demonstrated by the fact that Pablo then reports, It smelled like him (Márquez ,118) to the
narrator after stabbing the knife through his back.. Santiago being stabbed by Pablo is symbolic
of betrayal namely; that of Santiago by the Vicario twins. Pedro and Pablo Vicario betray
Santiago in that Santiago is murdered not for committing a crime, as it is only a matter of the
Vicario s pride and the protection of their family s honour. After the murder, the feelings of guilt
are felt by Pedro and Pablo in their jail cell where Santiago s smell haunted them, Pedro reporting
no matter how much I scrubbed with soap and rags, I couldn t get rid of the smell (Márquez, 78) to
the narrator. This causes them to go three nights without sleep due to the fact that as soon as they
began to fall asleep they would commit the crime all over again (Márquez, 78). Santiago s smell
returns when the narrator goes to the local brothel to visit one of the prostitutes, María Alejandrina
Cervantes. Before they

Symbolism, and Use of Sound in The Great Dictator (1940) Vincent G. Foisy Cleveland State
University. An Exploration of Charlie Chaplin?s Influences, Symbolism, and Use of Sound in The
Great Dictator (1940) In the early 1900?s, Charlie Chaplin became one of the most famous
filmmakers in American history. His clumsy portrayal of The Little Tramp in many silent pictures
led to him becoming a household name by 1917; his vast writing and directing career was just
getting started. By the 1930?s, sound had taken over the silver screen; however, Chaplin refused to...

By this time, Chaplin, a vocally political anti fascist, had expressed his dislike for Germany?s
Fuhrer and had been working on The Great Dictator since 1937 (Cole, 2001). Despite this, Chaplin
was pressured ?either to render the images and message of his film inoffensive to Hitler and
Mussolini, which meant eliminating any anti fascist propaganda element, or else to drop the project
altogether? from the start of his work on the film (Cole, 2001). Until this point in time, the American
cinema had ignored Hitler?s presence and actions, as propaganda films were still slightly looked
down upon, due to their misuse during World War I (Cole, 2001). Perhaps another reason for
Chaplin?s public dislike of Hitler, was that his wife at the time, Paulette Goddard, was herself Jewish
(Brownlow Kloft, 2002). In the film itself, Chaplin shows many events that reflect the reality of late
1930?s Germany including most prominently the treatment of the Jewish people through
representations of anti semitic graffiti and an event reminiscent of Kristallnacht. In the early scenes
of the Jewish ghetto, the windows all have painted graffiti reading Jew (Sherman, 2002). During the
beginning of Jewish persecution in Germany, it was not uncommon for Nazis and Nazi sympathizers
to paint anti semitic texts on to the windows of Jewish owned shops and homes. Through enormous
set pieces, innovative camera work, and great attention to detail, Chaplin was
Essay On Pedagogical Collaboration
In the University of Mary Washington s Writing Center, it is our purpose to aid students with any
part of the writing process in a friendly and effective manner. Our policy is to help students learn
about how they can improve their projects and how they may identify mistakes on their own and
solve problems just as easily. Although we have been praised somewhat highly in our abilities to
help clients, if we may say so ourselves, we are not miracle workers when it comes to certain

This issue of disconnection between instructors of different departments and centers of external
education has been made before by faculty members, writing center tutors and librarians alike.
After identifying this issue, many college instructors from different disciplines have created
surveys, polls, experiments and ideas for partnered assignments to find efficient and effective
ways to educate students about IL and to make students more aware about what is expected from
them at the college level, especially first years. However, this type of education should not be
limited to first years alone. It is possible that some fourth year students will never have been
asked to do research for their classes while some first year students will have done a number of
research assignments , and that this emphasis on teamwork between faculty and IL instructors are
imperative for a student to learn these skills in order to be successful in the real working world

Great Bear Rainforest
An article on NPR titled, Landmark Deal Protects over 9 Million Acres of Canadian Rain Forest
by Merritt Kennedy is considered a victory for the environment. After 10 years, a deal protecting
over 9 million acres of Canadian rain forest is now permanent. The area is located on the Pacific
Coast of British Columbia and it is about the size of Ireland. It is a vast piece of land named The
Great Bear Rainforest, and according to the report, represents the largest tracts of intact temperate
rainforest on Earth. The forest has a complex mixture of oceans, mountains, fjord, old forest, and
salmon streams. A rarity amongst rain forest on Earth, therefore it took several years of negotiation
before reaching a deal.
The deal was between the aboriginal
