Anatomics Of The Human Body During The Renaissance Period
More medical discoveries and advances are occurring every day. Medical treatments and
understanding of the human anatomy have come a long way. Though if it weren t for certain
Anatomists, we may have not have had the right comprehension of the human body which could
have led to errors in surgery and more deaths while treating patients. The Renaissance period was a
time where Anatomists searched for clearer understanding of the human body. During the
Renaissance period, Anatomists questioning and experimentation led to great discoveries of the
human body. Wrong theories of the anatomy have been assumed to be correct for thousands of
years. Theories of using a scientific base were not used by the Europeans until the Renaissance period

People who believed in Galen s theories tried to explain how the pulmonary vein would have air go
down into the heart and also have a by product called sooty vapours brought up into the lungs.
Though there was a massive lack of evidence, the Galen theory still stood as the correct theory (
About William Harvery ). Galen s model was proven wrong by Renaissance anatomists. Despite
Galen s model being used for so many years, Vesalius proved the vena cava could not have come
from the liver. Realdo Columbo s experimentation also gathered information about the heart. It was
revealed that the systole phase of the heart is active as it constricts and pumped blood into the
arteries while the dystole phase is the inactive phase of the heart ( About William Harvery ).
Harvey, inspired by Vesalius s discoveries, later discovered the process of blood circulation in
1628 ( Renaissance medicine ). Galen s theories were challenged by William Harvey s (About
Williams Harvey). Harvey observed sheep veins and arteries and even his own veins to discover
blood circulation. Harvey concluded that the veins in our bodies allowed the blood to circulate(
Medicine ). Harvey was able to prove Columbo s theory and discovered that the heart worked as a
muscle. The beating heart sent a shockwave to the arteries which causes them to
Debate on Gun Control
The Debate on Gun Control The debate concerning gun control has recently become as popular as
ever. People question if guns are really necessary. Some wonder that if the government regulates
who has the right to own a gun crime rates and death could decrease in the Unites States. Others
believe that guns aren t to blame for deaths; guns don t kill people, people kill people . How can
we conclude which side is right if they both strongly believe in their argument? There are always
two sides to an argument; the only way to know which is right is to look at the facts.
Gun Control means that the government will regulate the sale and ownership of firearms.
Therefore, before getting a permit to carry a gun you will get a detailed background check to make
sure you are not an ex felon or anything that could be a threat. This sounds great to many people, but
there is one snag in the plan; criminals will not get their guns registered. If the government begins to
regulate ownership of guns, it will not stop criminals from owning one.

Since 1950, every public mass shooting (with the exception of one) in the U.S. has occurred in a
place where guns are prohibited to carry. Some people just believe this is a coincidence, or that it
is just ironic. This is not the case. People who are in charge of the mass shootings want to feel as
though they have control of the situation, and if they are the only one carrying a gun they will have
the upper hand in the situation. There is a reason
Hitler s Argument
This is can be tricky because as much as an institution can teach decency, that does not guarantee
that a person would necessarily learn or want to learn to be decent. This also makes me question
the concept of decency as well because what really is decency? What does it mean to be a decent
person? Does it mean to lend a helping hand when someone is in need? Does it mean to smile and
politely greet random strangers or to hold the door open for the person behind us? Does it mean
to do no harm onto others? These are the questions that spawn just by trying to break down the
concept of decency. However, I do believe decency is just doing what is right by the standards of
what coincides with what the person believes is decent and society s definition of decency. An
example, society believes in doing no harm to others and I agree, therefore, I m decent because I
would not do any harm to another person. A politician, however, could shift on what it means on
being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would say, no and the reason for that is that Trump can believe whatever he wants to believe but
at the end of the day, that doesn t make him decent. Adolf Hitler coincides in this example as well
because he dropped out of university and was homeless until World War I, but his university
should not be held accountable either for his indecent actions because this is what he believes in.
At the end of the day, no matter what we are taught in school, especially during our college years,
it is up to us to take away what we learn. Learning to be a decent person varies on an individual
because school can only teach us so much, but we also learn from our environment, we learn from
our culture, and we even learn from our parents. Institutions, frankly, should worry more about their
graduates leave with an educated mind, but still be optimistic that their graduates also left with a
certain decency that takes them far in
Analysis Of The Masque Of The Red Death
In Phantasmagoria, one story that the group performed that really stuck out to me was The
Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allen Poe. To sum the short story up, it is about a prince
named Prospero who hides away in his castle with his wealthy friends trying to hide from The
Red Death , which in the play is shown as a skeleton like ghoul, but in the actual story, the Red
Death plague is personified by a victim of it. There were many performers in the show, I heard all
of their names, but in truth the names were not important. For the show itself, all the characters
had names, but they acted out and performed poems and short stories, in which they went under
different aliases, so it is difficult to have kept all the names in check. My favorite aesthetic choice
of this performance actually ties all four of the choices together. It was the Victorian theme of the
performance that really caught my eye and excited me. They played Victorian aged music for
certain parts of the performance, and one of the cast members even played a cello during certain
dramatic monologues. The costumes in this performance reminded me of the gypsies in the Robert
Downey Junior Sherlock Holmes movie, which went so well with the overall performance. The
movement and dance of the performance always was directly influenced by the Victorian theme as
well. In one portion of the play, the performers waltzed and another performed something of a ballet
styled dance, which was quite amazing to watch. And the
What Is The Tone Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy
Being born of a German immigrant, Sylvia Plath shares an eye opening poem right before she
ended her life in 1963. On October 12th, 1962, Plath wrote a poem called Daddy. In this poem, she
portrays a speaker that expresses numerous feelings of hate and fear. Though most might think this
word actually means father, in German daddymeans oh you . Nevertheless, this poem relates to a
person or father. After reading further, one might notice that she references Natzi s and Jew s, and
uses many comparisons to explain her feelings and the type of person this individual was. The
speaker in this story presents that she is captured in a life that she never thought she would live
through. Not only does she feel she is less important in the eyes of another person, it leaves an
everlasting effect on her life. The most unequivocal message is hatred in SylviaPlath s poem Daddy
to emphasize the hardships and challenges she goes through.
In the beginning of Daddy , the speaker sets an intense tone to demonstrate how she feels towards this

The development in tone transitions us into thinking that she wants to be with this person when
she states, I tried to die (58) and get back, back, back to you. (60). Probably so used to the life she
did not know any better and needed to be around them. Then a reversal in tone signifies that a
change in heart came when she says, I m finally through (68). The speaker expresses that she
finally accepts what she was put through. To end the poem she lets out all of the anger that has
been kept by finalizing that there is a stake in your fat black heart (86) and they are dancing and
stamping on you (88). The speaker lets us in on the knowledge that she was not alone, and there are
others that would agree with her. The ending tone of that line lets out a sign of relief and signifies
that she is through with all of the hatred she had
Criticism Of Feminism In Frankenstein
There are many criticisms that can be taken from Frankenstein, but feminism seems to be one of the
largest issues that Shelley wanted to bring about in her story. Ways that she has shown her views on
feminism Is through the undeniable arrogance of Frankenstein with his project, the ambition of
creating life without a female, and the removal of the feminine (The Monster in a Dark Room:
Frankenstein, Feminism, and Philosophy). Although these several examples prove a lot, other
female authors have dived into her literature to find ideas that all point to the same subject: feminism.
Frankenstein is influenced highly by many sources such as being written in the era of biology,
dreamt about in the deep sleep of Shelley, and relating to the personal ... Show more content on

One of the few differences is that she focuses primarily on the text rather than the biography.
Mellor believes that the book points out the consequences when attempting to possess or dismiss
the female. She says Frankenstein as a critique of male attitudes to female sexuality. This analysis
is taken from scenes such as Frankenstein s violent destruction of the female creature he created
and how he tried to justify his actions, and the murder of Elizabeth Lavenza (Possessing Nature:
The Female in Frankenstein 279 280). Mellor argues that nature resists Victor s attempts to destroy
her. Mellor tries to recover a power feminine agency: Nature isn t passive, inert, or dead matter.
Nature both resists and revenges herself upon his attempts (Possessing Nature: The Female in
Frankenstein 282). Overall, Mellor views Shelley as celebrating nature as a sacred life force where
every human being should take part in conscious harmony (Possessing Nature: The Female in
Frankenstein 284). There is an argument in The Madwoman in the Attic that inside the good,
domestic, nineteenth century women writers, there was rage and anger unleashed when they picked
up the pen. Counter figures of the ideal woman were created in women s writings, which resulted in
what we know as Mary Shelley s creature. Female authors would implement anger and representation
of monsters in their writings. They would then be looked upon as monstrous
Protein Misfolding And Its Effects On Human Disease
Proteins play a part in every cellular activity and must fold into proper three dimensional
configurations, or native state, to execute their intended functions. Proteomic stressors such as
chemical exposure or elevated temperature can inhibit protein folding upsetting protein homeostasis
and resulting in cell death and human disease (Broadley 2009). Excessive proteinmisfolding can lead
to amyloid fibrillar aggregates which deposit around brain neurons contributing to the development
or progression of neurodegenerative disorders: Alzheimer s disease, Huntington s disease and
Parkinson s disease are all fundamentally diseases of protein misfolding (Soto 2003, Hartl 2009).
Molecular chaperones stabilize unfolded or misfolded proteins until native conformations have been
obtained to promote cell survival during and after stress conditions. They do not change or add to
the folding principles encoded by a protein because polypeptide chains inherently carry within them
all the information that is necessary for achieving the native state of a protein. Instead, they optimize
the folding process by stabilizing folding intermediates and are involved in every aspect of proteome
maintenance including de novo folding, refolding of stress induced misfolded proteins, and targeting
proteins for degradation (Hartl 2009, Hartl 2011). Chaperones, many of which are induced or
upregulated only during stress conditions, work in cooperative networks when protein aggregate
concentration
