folk hero, Birsa Munda, offers a platform for students from grades VI to XII. Curated
by Mr. Mukherjee P., it features nine exciting critical thinking events such as Multi-
Format English Debates, Torque, Creative Writing, General Quiz, Synapse, Circle of
Reasons, Sonic, Dialogues, Frames.

SARALA BIRLA PUBLIC SPEAKING CONCLAVE (2025-26)
GENERAL RULES AND RUBRICS
1. DATES OF THE EVENT: JULY 3-5, 2025 (THURSDAY to SATURDAY).
All outstation teams are requested to reach the school campus by the
morning/afternoon of JULY 2nd or morning of JULY 3rd. The brief opening
ceremony will begin on JULY 3rd from 9:00 am onwards. Each day the event
will end tentatively by 4:45 pm. On the final day, the event will be wrapped up by
2 pm on JULY 5th, 2025.
2. Total delegation size for outstation teams cannot be more than 10 members and
one teacher in charge. The total number should not exceed 11 members. The
schools from in and around Ranchi can bring any number of participants as per
rules of the event and an accompanying teacher-in-charge.
3. THE SCHOOLS HAVE TO CONFIRM THEIR PARTICIPATION BY 10th June,
2025.
4. A school can choose to take part in any number of events and each member of the
delegation must take part in complete school uniform (except otherwise mentioned
in the rules).
5. Students or teachers from any participating delegation should not make any video
recording of the event including their own participants.
6. The host school is not eligible for the CONCLAVE CHAMPIONS and the First
Runner-up trophies in Senior and Junior categories which will be awarded on the
BASIS of cumulative score (WHICH INCLUDES AWARDS AND
PARTICIPATION POINTS) of ALL the events.
7. Individual prizes, participation certificates and citations will be GIVEN AS A
PART OF THE PRIZE DISTRIBUTION ceremony.
8. ALL EVENTS ARE OPEN FOR CLASSES VI TO XII ACCORDING TO
THEIR CATEGORIES.

EVENT-1
PLURILOGUES: MULTI-FORMAT ENGLISH DEBATES
(OPEN TO STUDENTS FROM CLASSES VIII to XII - SENIOR)
FLOW and GENERAL RULES :
The debate team shall comprise two members.
RULES FOR THE FIRST (PRELIMINARY) ROUND
1. The first round of the debate will feature all the members.
2. A motion will be given 30 minutes before the commencement of the Prelims of the
debate.
3. One member of the team will speak on the motion as a turncoat debate (1.5 minutes
+ 1.5 minutes)
4. The second member will be given 1.5 minutes for an extempore speech.
RULES FOR THE FINALS:
1. THE TOP 4 TEAMS OF THE PRELIMINARY ROUNDS on the basis of the
cumulative score of Prelims WILL MAKE IT TO THE FINALS.
2. The finals are face-off between two teams for the propositions and two teams for
the opposition.
3. The topics for the finals will be given 25 minutes before the start of the debate.
4. The opening speakers of the two teams will speak for 3 minutes each. The second
speakers of the two teams will speak for 2.5 minutes each.
5. One nominated member of two teams out of 4 (which will be decided after the four
policy speeches) will face Block and Tackle
6. One speaker will be nominated by the team to face the Block-and-Tackle format of
debating in the FINAL ROUND AND TOPIC FOR THE SAME WILL BE GIVEN
ON THE SPOT.
BLOCK-AND-TACKLE FORMAT:
Block-and-Tackle is a turncoat debate on a faster track. Whenever the speaker hears
the instruction “BLOCK” he has to go against the motion and as he hears “TACKLE”
he has to revert to favour the motion.
The speaker can be “blocked” and “tackled” any number of times, sometimes on every
word and turn of phrases. It will be conducted by the jury-chair.

SPORTS, LITERARY, ARTS-ENTERTAINMENT & MUSIC (SLAM) QUIZ
(OPEN TO STUDENTS FROM CLASSES VIII to XII - SENIOR)
RULES: The Invitational Quiz :
1. The quiz questions will be asked in English.
2. There will be one team per INSTITUTION from classes VIII to XII.
3. Each INSTITUTION will be represented by a Two-member team.
4. There will be an elimination round of 16 questions. Finals will comprise 6 rounds.
5. Top five teams will qualify for the finals.
6. The finals will have 2 visuals and one audio rounds respectively along with three
rounds of dry questions. One round in the finals will be dedicated to the 100 years
of Indian hockey (a milestone that we are commemorating in 2025) along with the
birth centenary of hockey legend, Keshav Dutt.
7. There will be equal number of rounds clockwise and anti-clockwise in the
finals. The final quiz will not have infinite bounce or pounce format.
8. The quizmaster's decision will be final and binding.
9. There will be no negative marking and buzzer round for the eliminations and the
finals.

SYNAPSE: STREAM KINETIC ART INSTALLATION COMPETITION
(OPEN TO STUDENTS FROM CLASSES VIII to XII - SENIOR)
Here is a brief description and impact of each letter in STREAM
S – Science: Is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic
study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through
observation and experiment. It is “a systematically organized body of knowledge on a
particular subject”.
T – Technology: The application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, the
branch of knowledge dealing with engineering or applied sciences.
R – Reading and Writing: Reading & Writing or literacy involves research works
that promote critical thinking, creativity, and innovation.
E – Engineering: Engineering is the creative application of science, mathematical
methods, and empirical evidence to the innovation, design, construction,
and maintenance of structures, machines, materials, devices, systems, processes,
and organizations towards problem solving.
A – Arts: ‘Arts’ is an expression or application of human creative skill, emotion, and
imagination.
M – Mathematics: Mathematics is the science that deals with the logic of shape,
quantity, and arrangement.
RULES AND RUBRIC:
1. A team will comprise three members FROM CLASSES VIII TO XII.
2. A theme will be given 5 minutes prior to the set-up.
3. THE LIVE INSTALLATION SETTING UP TIME WILL BE 65 MINUTES.
4. Total time allotted – 75 minutes (10 minutes for digital device research before the
devices are submitted)
5. EACH TEAM WILL GET AN IDENTICAL BAG COMPRISING MATERIALS
GIVEN BY THE HOST SCHOOL.
6. THEY CANNOT USE ANY OTHER MATERIAL APART FROM THE
DESIGNATED BAG EXCEPT A WRITING PEN.
7. The PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE TO set up a small static / kinetic display IN 65
MINUTES ALONG WITH A FIVE LINE HANDWRITTEN BLOCK LETTERS
CONCEPT NOTE.

8. THE PARTICIPANTS WILL NOT BE PRESENT WHEN THE JURY VIEWS
AND MARKS THE DISPLAY. THE DISPLAY SHOULD SPEAK FOR ITSELF.
9. THE PARTCIPANTS THEMSELVES CANNOT BE A SILENT MODEL
AND BE A PART OF THE DISPLAY. THEY CANNOT USE ANY
ACCESSORIES FOR THE DISPLAY.
10. PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED TO THE TOP 5 TEAMS. FIRST, SECOND,
JOINT THIRD AND CRITIC’S CHOICE
11. The participants will be marked on the following:
A) Innovative usage of space and properties
B) Relevance to the central idea of the theme
C) Visual Alignment
D) Minimalism
E) Conceptual clarity
12. THE TOPIC WILL BE RELATED TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE
APPROACH OF THE INSTALLATION SHOULD BE ‘STREAM’ APPROACH
TO HIGHLIGHT THE ISSUE AS AN ADVOCACY TOOL.

EVENT -4
TORQUE-INTEGRATED DANCE DIALOGUES
(OPEN TO STUDENTS FROM CLASSES VIII to XII - SENIOR)
1. A team can consist of 3 members, a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 members
from Classes VIII TO XII. The fourth additional member is allowed at the backstage.
If a live vocalist/s and/or musician/s is/are added then the team can field a 3 member
delegation.
2. The dance choreography has to be based on the complete Preamble of Indian
Constitution or Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Duties. ANY
STYLE/GENRE/MIX OF STYLES AND GENRES/CLASSICAL/FOLK/

CONTEMPORARY/JAZZ/HIP HOP/ FUSION treatments can be used to mount the
production
3. The texts/excerpts of the text should be clearly mentioned in its complete form as a
part of the spoken sound track not as a recorded version in the piece.
4. No makeup is allowed and the dress code for costumes must be a combination
of black and white (for example white shirt, black pants) and no other colour.
No face or body paint allowed.
5. If there are any ADDITIONAL live vocals or text, it should be spoken within the
ambit of a four-member team. (Backstage help – 4th member)
6. Please adhere to the time limit.
7. Please submit the complete team list of participants during registration.
8. Time limit of the performance maximum 3.5 minutes minimum 2. 5 minutes.
9. Live music will fetch extra credit. Only acoustic instruments are allowed (No
plugged in instruments, octapad and keyboard will be allowed).

EVENT-5
SONIC– THE FUSION BAND EVENT (Competitive)
(OPEN TO STUDENTS FROM CLASSES VIII to XII - SENIOR)
Number of participants: 3 to 4
Eligibility: Classes VIII – XII, Theme: Confluence
GENERAL RULES:
1. Each team is allowed to have 3 to 4 members, and all the members must be
students. Teachers are not allowed to perform with the students.
2. Each school is eligible to send one team only.

3. The participants must perform a fusion medley of eastern and western songs and
must note that no film music is allowed in the performance. Performing any film
music will lead to disqualification.
4. The time allotted to each team is 6 minutes (empty stage to empty stage.) Marks
will be deducted on exceeding the time limit.
5. Only a drum kit will be provided by the host school. All other instruments must
be brought by participants.
6. No keyboards and octapads are allowed. All the instruments should be unplugged
and the microphones for each instrument will be provided.
7. Participants may wear costumes if they wish to, however these will not fetch any
extra marks.
8. No pre-recorded tracks or karaoke will be entertained. A minimum of two lines
instrumental is required.
9. Evaluation will be based on group coordination, arrangement, choice of song,
expression and clarity.
10. The decision of the judges will be final.
11. Violation of any rules will lead to deduction of marks or disqualification.

EVENT - 6
DIALOGUES: INTER SCHOOL ENGLISH CREATIVE WRITING
COMPETITION
(OPEN TO STUDENTS OF CLASSES VI TO XII - JUNIOR & SENIOR)
1. Each school will be represented by two members in the two categories of the
event. One member from VI to VIII and the other member from VIII to XII. Two
junior members from classes VI to VIII are allowed but two senior members
from CLASSES VIII TO XII are not allowed.

2. The participants will be given a word / phrase/photograph from which they will
have to craft a 21-line piece which should be a combination of a fiction and non-
fiction.
3. The language of the piece will be English.
4. Time limit: 45 minutes
5. The piece has to be written on a blank sheet of paper, which will be given by
the hosts.
6. The best five individual entries in each category will be awarded and top four
teams will be awarded.
7. INDIVIDUAL PRIZES- First, Second, Third, Judge’s Choice, and Critic’s
choice

CIRCLES OF REASON-INTER SCHOOL EXPERIMENTAL THEATRE
PRODUCTION
(OPEN TO STUDENTS FROM CLASSES VI TO VIII - JUNIOR)
1. The performance will be in English language.
2. A team of four members (minimum permissible strength: three members). Two for
speaking roles and one for mime/asanas/ physical theatre/non-verbal movement/
puppetry
3. If it is a four-member delegation apart from two speakers and one non-verbal, others
can don any role onstage or backstage.
4. All of them can speak in the play but minimum one performer at any point of time
will have to perform the non-verbal segment.
5. TOPIC FOR THE PLAY: A SELF -CREATED ADAPTATION OF ANY ASPECT
OF the LEGEND BIRSA MUNDA’S LIFE
6. TOTAL PERFORMANCE TIME: 6 minutes, Minimum time: 4 minutes

FRAMES - REEL MAKING
(OPEN TO STUDENTS FROM CLASSES VI TO VIII - JUNIOR)

Eligibility: Classes VI to VIII
GENERAL RULES:
1. Each team must create a reel about their own school. Theme will be given on the
day of the event
2. The format of an Instagram Reel (Vertical frame) should be followed. Duration
must be under 90 seconds. The participants will have to bring their own equipment
and costumes
3. Teams are responsible for the reel’s writing, shooting, directing, and acting.
4. No Extra participants outside the team are allowed for acting purpose in the reel.
5. Reels can target any emotion or genre, but must include a ‘virality’ factor
appealing to Gen Z.
6. Offensive and insensitive content as well as vulgar language is unacceptable and
will result in immediate disqualification.
7. Time permitting Award-winning reels will be showcased on the prize giving.

I understand that no participating school/delegation is permitted to record/publish any video
recording taken during the sessions from the host school of the conclave. I also agree to the rule
that Video Recording or livestreaming of any of the onstage and offstage event while the event is
in progress is strictly prohibited.
I hereby agree to adhere to the registration guidelines, general rubrics, rules of procedure
mentioned in the invitation docket and the online code of conduct. I also agree that students shall
adhere to the code of conduct and all the conclave policies and rules, failing which I shall have no
objections if a student is suspended from the meet.
I understand that the conclave will be on a shared collaborative platform and I shall not hold host
school responsible, in any manner whatsoever, for any untoward online or offline incident that
