Grade 7 Life Orientation Worksheet
A healthy mind and body
In this activity, you will be required to discuss the concept: “a healthy mind in a healthy
body.”
We all know that a healthy body cannot promise a healthy mind, but it has been proven that
children who are more active perform better at school than children who are less active.
Daily activity refreshes the mind and body and keeps you healthier, happier and mentally
sharper.
To keep yourself healthy, you need to eat a balanced diet and get enough exercise and
sleep.
There are so many different types of physical activity that exercising and keeping fit does
not have to be boring! Choose to do something that you can enjoy.
Task
Discuss the concept “a healthy mind in a healthy body”.
Do you agree that keeping fit and healthy and getting enough sleep will keep
your mind and body healthy? Why do you think so? Discuss your thoughts.
Do you think it is important to pay attention to your diet? Why?
Discuss the different types of physical activity you and your class mates do.
Discuss the different types of sports and recreational activities that you could do
– which activities are team sports and what can you do alone?
During this activity, remember to take turns when speaking. Do not speak over your
class mates, but rather wait for somebody to finish making a point before you speak.
Also, be sure to give everybody a turn to have their say!
