Report of Guest Lecture

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has


successfully organised a Guest Lecture on Career Development on
27 November, 2023 at 2.00 pm in Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of
Engineering for Women. It was delivered by Ms. Monica Sai
Kambala, Software Engineer at Google and Google Women
Techmakers Engineering Fellow. Ms. Monica had worked as a
Software Developer at IIIT Hyderabad and as an Application
Developer in Oracle. She was also the alumni batch of GVPCEW
during the year 2016-2020.
The Guest Lecture was interactive and about 180 students attended
the session. The lecture focused on her journey of securing a job in
her dream company, Google and specified the path which enrouted
her into this company suggesting us how to build a good career
starting from now. She has ardent passion towards her job and
excelled herself in Python programming language. She discussed the
pros and cons of choosing the right path for our career and the
importance of time. She suggested us to focus completely on career
development by learning new courses and applying Internships to test
our eligibility and knowledge. She also spoke about personality
development.
Ms. Monica has given keen information on the procedures followed
during interviews and the skills which a job applicant should require.
She has given us an opportunity to share our queries and provided
quick and apt solutions.
The students found the lecture interesting and informative and would
be willing to attend many more sessions.
We are thankful to the Principal, Prof Dr R.K. Goswami Sir and the
Head of the Department, Prof Dr P.V.S. Lakshmi Jagadamba ma’am
for the guidance and motivation to plan guest lectures and seminars
for the all-round development of the students along with academics.
