(3) GreenRide operates over 200,000 e-bike trips daily in the city. The operations team
wants to evaluate user satisfaction with the service. They planned to survey a sample
of 400 riders. The company has access to riders’ age, gender, trip details, duration, and
payment method.
(a) Describe how a simple random sample may be selected.

(4) State and briefly explain whether the statements below refer to descriptive or inferential
statistics.
(a) According to a government report published in 2024, the average monthly
electricity consumption of all residential households in Singapore was 460
kilowatt-hours (kWh), based on data collected from national utility billing
records.
(b) In a recent market research survey conducted among 250 private car owners
living in urban, it was found that 35% of the respondents expressed a strong
intention to switch to electric vehicles (EVs) within the next five years.
(c) A popular e-commerce company conducted a survey involving 120 randomly
selected customers who made purchases within the last month. Among them,
40% stated a preference for cash-on-delivery as their payment method. Based
on this sample data, the company estimated that approximately 40% of all
their customers prefer to use cash-on-delivery when shopping online.

(5) A university library is conducting a survey to evaluate students’ satisfaction with library
services, including book availability, seating, opening hours, and staff support. To
collect responses, the library places a QR code at the main entrance for students to scan
and complete the online questionnaire. However, many students are in a hurry and walk
past without scanning the code, while only a few—mostly those who spend long hours
in the library—end up responding. What is the main type of research bias that could
occur in this situation? Explain the bias that you have identified.

You are the Manager of FitLife Wellness Center, a highly popular fitness center known for
offering a wide range of health and fitness programs, including personal training, group classes,
strength and conditioning, and wellness coaching for members of all ages and fitness levels.
As the manager of the center, you place great importance on members’ feedback and
satisfaction. Therefore, you have decided to conduct an independent Member Satisfaction
Survey to further enhance the quality of services, training programs, and overall member
experience at the fitness center.

Classification is a very useful technique in data analysis and data mining. Classification
in data mining is a supervised learning technique used to predict the category or class
of data points. It involves building a model based on a training dataset that contains
input features and known output labels (classes), and then using that model to classify
new, unseen data. Please demonstrate two classification methods and discuss the
features of each method.
