अर्जुन उवाच
मदनुग्रहाय परमं गुह्यम् अध्यात्म संज्ञितम्।
यत्त्वयोक्तं वचस्तेन मोहोऽयं विगतो मम।।
Arjuna uva:cha
madanugraha:ya paramam guhyam adhya:thma samjnitham |
yathva yo:ktham vachasthe:na mo:ho:yam vigatho: mama ||

Arjuna said:
This greatest secret concerned about individual self which You have delivered out of compassion for me
dispelled my delusion.

|| 11.2 ||
भवाप्ययौ हि भूतानां श्रुतौ विस्तरशो मया।
त्वत्तः कमलपत्राक्ष माहात्म्यमपि चाव्ययम्।।
bhava:pyayou hi bhu:tha:na:m sruthou visthara so: maya: |
thvaththah kamalapathra:ksha ma:ha:thmya mapi cha:vyayam ||

O Krishna! The origin and dissolution of all beings emanating from You have been heard by me at length in
detail and Your eternal greatness too is heard by me entirely.
 || 11.3 ||
एवमेतद् यथात्थत्वम् आत्मानं परमेश्वर।
द्रष्टुमिच्छामि ते रूपमैश्वरं पुरुषोत्तम।।
ye:va me:thad yattha::thttha thvam a:thma:nam parame:svara |
drashtum ichcha:mi the: ru:pam aisvaram purusho:ththama ||

O Supreme Lord! What you have declared about Yourself is ascertained as such. O Purushottama! I wish to see
Your extraordinary sovereign form.

|| 11.4 ||
मन्यसे यदि तच्छक्यं मया द्रष्टुमिति प्रभो।
योगेश्वर ततो मे त्वं दर्शयाऽत्मानम् अव्ययम्।।
manyase: yadi thachhakyam maya drashtum ithi prabho: |
yo:ge:svara thatho: me: thvam darsa ya:thma:nam avyayam ||

O Lord! If You think that it is possible to be seen by me. O Yogeswara! show me Yourself wholly to me.

|| 11.5 ||
 श्री भगवानुवाच
पश्य मे पार्थ रूपाणि शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः।
नानाविधानि दिव्यानि नानावर्ण आकृतीनि च।।
Sri Bhagavan uvacha
pasaya me: pa:rdha! ru:pa:ni sathaso::ttha sahasra saha |
na:na: vidha:ni divya:ni na:na: varna:kruthi:ni cha ||

The Lord said:

O Arjuna! Behold My forms, by hundreds and thousands; which are manifold, divine multihued and
multifarious.

|| 11.6 ||
पश्य आदित्यान् वसून् रुद्रान् अश्विनौ मरुतस्तथा।
बहूनि अदृष्ट पूर्वाणि पश्य आश्चर्याणि भारत।।
pasya:dithya:n pasu:n rudra:n asvinou maruthas thattha: |
bahu:n yadrushta pu:rva:ni pasaya:scharya:ni bha:ratha! ||

O Arjuna! Behold the Adityas, the Vasus, the Rudras, the two Aswins and also the Maruts and also many
marvels that were never seen before.

|| 11.7 ||
 इहैकस्थं जगत् कृत्स्नं पश्याद्य सचराचरम्।
मम देहे गुडाकेश यच्चान्यत् द्रष्टुमिच्छसि।।
ihaikasttham jagath kruthsnam pasya:dya sachara:charam |
mama de:he: guda:ke:sa ! yachcha:nyath drashtum ichchasi ||

O Arjuna! Behold now the whole universe of the moving and the unmoving and whatever else you desire to see
as an integrant of My body.

|| 11.8 ||
न तु मां शक्यसे द्रष्टुम् अनेनैव स्वचक्षुषा।
दिव्यं ददामि ते चक्षुः पश्य मे योगमैश्वरम्।।
na thu ma:m sakshyase: drashtum ane:naiva sva chakshusha: |
divyam dada:mi the: chakshuhu pasaya me: yo:gam ai:svaram ||
You cannot see Me with your mortal eyes, therefore I am giving you the divine sight; behold My extraordinary
Omni perfections.

|| 11.9 ||
 सञ्जय उवाच
एवमुक्त्वा ततो राजन् महा योगेश्वरो हरिः।
दर्शयामास पार्थाय परमं रूपमैश्वरम्।।
Sanjaya Uvacha
e:va mukthva: thatho: ra:jan maha: yo:ge:svaro: harihi |
darsaya:ma:sa pa:rttha:ya paramam ru:pam aisvaram ||

O King! Having spoken thus, Sri Krishna the Lord of the great yogis then showed to Arjuna, the Supreme
sovereign form.

|| 11.10 ||
अनेक वक्त्र नयनम् अनेकाद्भुत दर्शनम्।
अनेक दिव्याभरणं दिव्य अनेकोद्यत आयुधम्।।
ane:ka vakthranayanam ane:ka:dbhutha darsanam |
ane:ka divya:bharanam divya:ne:ko:d yatha:yudham ||

Multifarious and multi-eyed and with many marvelous aspects, with many divine ornaments, with many uplifted
divine weapons.

|| 11.11 ||
दिव्य माल्याम्बरधरं दिव्य गन्धानुलेपनम्।
सर्वाश्चर्यमयं देवम् अनन्तं विश्वतोमुखम्।।
 divya ma:lya:mbaradharam divya gandha:nule:panam |
sarva:scharya mayam de:vam anantham visvatho: mukham ||

Wearing divine garlands and raiment's, anointed with celestial perfume wonderful, resplendent, infinite, with
faces on all sides.

|| 11.12 ||
दिवि सूर्य सहस्रस्य भवेत् युगपदुत्थिता।
यदि भाः सदृशी सा स्यात् भासस्तस्य महात्मनः।।
divi su:rya sahasrasya bhave:d yugapad uthtthitha: |
yadi bha:s sadrusi: sa: sya:d bha:sas thasya mahathmanaha ||

The splendor of a thousand suns lit all at once in the sky would be equal to the splendor of that mighty form.

|| 11.13 ||
तत्रैकस्थं जगत्कृत्स्नं प्रविभक्तम् अनेकधा।
अपश्यत् देवदेवस्य शरीरे पाण्डवस्तदा।।
thathraikasttham jagath kruthsnam pravibhakhtham ane:kattha: |
 apasyad de:vade:vasya sari:re:pa:navas thada: ||

Then Arjuna saw the whole universe in the body of the God of the gods as divided variously and in a particular
place.

|| 11.14 ||
ततः स विस्मयाविष्टो हृष्टरोमा धनञ्जयः।
प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं कृताञ्जलि: अभाषत।।
thathas sa vismaya:vishto: hrushata ro:ma: dhananjayaha |
pranamya sirasa: de:vam krutha:njali rabha:shatha ||

Then Arjuna, wonderstruck and with horripilation prostrated before the Lord and with folded hands spoke thus.

|| 11.15 ||
अर्जुन उवाच
पश्यामि देवान् तव देव देहे सर्वांस्तथा भूत विशेष सङ्घान्।
ब्रह्माणमीशं कमलासनस्थम् रुषींश्च सर्वान् उरगांश्च दिव्यान्।।
Arjuna Uvacha
pasya:mi de:va:ms thava de:va de:he: sarva:ms thattha: bhu:tha vise:sha sangha:n |
brahma:nam i:sam kamala:sanasttham rushi:ms cha sarva:nuraga:ms cha divya:n ||
 Arjuna said :
O Krishna! I see in your body all the gods as well as all the groups of various kinds of beings, the Brahma, the
Rudra who holds to serve according to the order of Brahma, all the sages and the snakes like Vasuki with
splendor.

|| 11.16 ||
अनेक बाहूदर वक्त्रनेत्रं पश्यामि त्वां सर्वतोऽनन्तरूपम्।
नान्तं न मध्यं न पुनस्तवादिं पश्यामि विश्वेश्वर विश्वरूप।।

ane:ka ba:hu:dara vakthra ne:thram pasya:mi thva:m sarvatho::nantharu:pam |

na:ntham na madhyam na punas thava:dim pasya:mi visve:svara ! visvaru:pa ! ||

O Lord of the Universe who holds the Universe! I behold You everywhere infinite in forms, with many arms,
stomachs, mouth and eyes. Again I am unable to see neither Your beginning nor Your middle nor your end.

|| 11.17 ||
किरीटिनं गदिनं चक्रिणं च तेजोराशिं सर्वतो दीप्तिमन्तम्।
पश्यामि त्वां दुर्निरीक्ष्यं समन्तात् दीप्तानलार्कद्युतिम् अप्रमेयम्।।

kiri:tinam gadinam chakrinam cha the:jo:ra:sim sarvatho: di:pthimantham |

pasya:mi thva:m durniri:ksham samantha:th di:ptha:nala:rka dyuthim aprame:yam ||

I see you with a crown, mace and discus as a heap of lustre resplendent everywhere; effulgent like the brightness
of blazing fire and the sun which is indefinable and immeasurable and impossible to look at.
 || 11.18 ||
त्वमक्षरं परमं वेदितव्यं त्वमस्य विश्वस्य परं निधानम्।
त्वमव्ययः शाश्वत धर्मगोप्ता सनातनस्त्वं पुरुषो मतो मे।।

thvam aksharam paramam ve:dithavyam thvam asya visvasya param nida:nam |

thvam avyayas sa:svatha dharmago:ptha: sana:thanas thvam purusho: matho: me: ||

You are the Imperishable, the Supreme-one to be known. You are the supreme prop of this universe. You are
devoid of alterations. You are the protector of the perpetual dharma. I came to know now that it is You who is
the Eternal Purusha.

|| 11.19 ||
अनादि मध्यान्तम् अनन्तवीर्यम् अनन्तबाहुं शशिसूर्य नेत्रम्।
पश्यामि त्वां दीप्तहुताश वक्त्रम् स्वतेजसा विश्वमिदं तपन्तम्।।

ana:di madhaya:ntha manantha vi:ryam ananthaba:hum sasisu:rya ne:thram |

pasya:mi thva:m di:ptha hutha:savakthram svathe:jasa: visvam idam thapantham ||

I see You as without origin middle and end, of boundless valor, of countless arms, with eyes like the sun and the
moon, and a face like blazing fire oppressing this Universe with Your glory.
 || 11.20 ||
द्यावा पृथिव्यो: इदमन्तरं हि व्याप्तं त्वयैकेन दिशश्च सर्वाः।
दृष्ट्वाऽद्भुतं रूपमुग्रं तवेदं लोकत्रयं प्रव्यथितं महात्मन्।।

daya:va: prutthivyo:r idam antharam hi vya:ptham thvayaike:na disascha sarva:ha |

drushtva::dbhutham ru:pa mugram thave:dam lo:kathrayam pravyadhitham mahathman! ||

O Mahatma! The space between heaven and earth and all the quarters are pervaded by You alone. Having seen
this wonderful and terrible form of Yours the three worlds are greatly intimidated.

|| 11.21 ||
अमी हि त्वां सुरसङ्घाः विशन्ति केचिद्भीताः प्राञ्जलयो गृणन्ति।
स्वस्तीति उक्त्वा महर्षि सिद्ध सङ्घाः स्तुवन्ति त्वां स्तुतिभिः पुष्कलाभिः।।
ami: hi thva: surasangha: visanthi ke:chid bhi:tha:ha pranjalayo: grunanthi |
svasthi:th yukthva: maharshi siddhasangha:ha sthuvanthi thva:m sthuthibhih pushkala:bhihi ||
Those hosts of gods are approaching You. Some with awe laud You with folded hands: hosts of great sages
Asuras and Siddhas saying benediction to you extol you with suitable sublime eulogies.
 || 11.22 ||
रुद्रादित्या वसवो ये च साध्या: विश्वेऽश् विनौ मरुतश्च ऊष्मपाश्च।
गन्धर्व यक्षा सुरसिद्ध सङ्घा: वीक्षन्ते त्वां विस्मिताश्चैव सर्वे।।
rudra:dithya: vasavo: ye: cha sa:dhya:ha visve::svinow: maruthas cho:shmapa:scha |
gandharva yaksha: sura siddha samgha:ha vi:kshanthe: thva:m vismitha:s chaiva sarve: ||

The Rudras, Adityas, Vasus those who are Sadhyas, Viswas, the two Aswins also the Maruts and the manes and
hosts of Gandharvas, Yakshas and Siddhas are all looking at You amazed.

|| 11.23 ||
रूपं महत्ते बहुवक्त्र नेत्रं महाबाहो बहु बाहूरुपादम्।
बहूदरं बहुदंष्ट्राकरालं दृष्ट्वा लोकाः प्रव्यथिता: तथाऽहम्।।
ru:pam mahath the: bahuvakthra ne:thram maha:ba:ho:! bahu ba:hu:ru pa:dam |
bahu:daram bahudamshtra: kara:lam drustva: lo:ka:h pravyadhitha:s thattha::ham ||

O Mahabaho! seeing your mighty form with many mouths and eyes, with many arms, thighs and feet, with many
stomachs and fierce with many fangs, the worlds are extremely fear struck, so am I.
 || 11.24 ||
नभःस्पृशं दीप्तम् अनेकवर्णं व्यात्ताननं दीप्त विशालनेत्रम्।
दृष्ट्वा हि त्वां प्रव्यथितान्तरात्मा धृतिं न विन्दामि शमं च विष्णो।।
nabha sprusam di:ptham ane:ka varnam vya:ththa:nanam di:ptha visa:lane:thram |
drushtva: hi thva:m pravyadhitha:nthar a:thma: dhruthim na vinda:mi samam cha vishno: ! ||

O Vishnu! Seeing You touching the sky, blazing with many hues, with mouths wide open, with large lustrous
eyes; I am extremely agitated in my innermost and I have neither strength nor peace of mind and senses to bear
this body.

|| 11.25 ||
दंष्ट्रा करालानि च ते मुखानि दृष्ट्वैव कालानल सन्निभानि।
दिशो न जाने न लभे च शर्म प्रसीद देवेश जगन्निवास।।
damshtra: kara:la:ni cha the: mukha:ni drushtvai ka:la:nala sannibha:ni |
diso: na ja:ne: na labhe: cha sarma prasi:da de:ve:sa ! jaganniva:sa ! ||

O Krishna! Seeing Your Ignivomous faces with fangs resembling the fire of cosmic destruction I am unable to
recognize the quarters and I feel ill at ease. O Lord of the Gods! O Abode of the Universe! Be gracious!
 || 11.26 ||
अमी सर्वे धृतराष्ट्रस्य पुत्राः सर्वे सहैव अवनिपालसङ्घैः।
भीष्मो द्रोणः सूतपुत्र: तथाऽसौ सहास्मदीयै: अपि योधमुख्यैः।।
ami: sarve: dhruthara:shtrasya puthra:s sarvais sahai va:vanipa:la sanghai:hi |
bhi:shma dro:nas su:thaputhras thattha::sau saha:s madi:yair api yo:dha mukhyaihi ||

All the sons of Dhritarashtra, Bhishma, Drona and also the Karna with hosts of kings along with even some of
our important warriors.

|| 11.27 ||
वक्त्राणि ते त्वरमाणा विशन्ति दंष्ट्रा करालानि भयानकानि।
केचित् विलग्ना दशनान्तरेषु संदृश्यन्ते चूर्णितै: उत्तमाङ्गैः।।
vakthrani the: thvarama:na: visanthi damshtra: kara:la:ni bha:ya:naka:ni |
ke:chid vilagna: dasana:nthare:shu sandrusyanthe: churnithair uththama:ngaihi ||

Enter hurriedly into Your mouths, which are fierce and fearful with fangs. Some are seen sticking in the gaps
between the teeth with heads pound to powder.

|| 11.28 ||
 यथा नदीनां बहवोऽम्बुवेगाः समुद्रमेवाभि मुखाः द्रवन्ति।
तथा तवामी नरलोकवीरा विशन्ति वक्त्रानि अभिविज्वलन्ति।।
yattha: nadi:na:m bahavo::mbu ve:ga:s samudram e:va:bhi:mukha: dravanthi |
thattha: thava:mi: naralo:ka vi:ra:ha visanthi vakthra:n yabhivijvalanthi ||

As various torrents of rivers, rush only towards the ocean, so do these various of the human world enter Your
igneous mouths.

|| 11.29 ||
यथा प्रदीप्तं ज्वलनं पतङ्गा विशन्ति नाशाय समृद्धवेगाः।
तथैव नाशाय विशन्ति लोका स्तवापि वक्त्राणि समृद्धवेगाः।।
yattha: pradi:ptham jvalanam pathanga:ha visanthi na:sa:ya samruddha ve:ga:ha |
thatthaiva na:sa:ya visanthi lo:ka:ha thava:pi vakthrani samruddha ve:ga:ha ||

As the locusts rush headlong into a blazing fire for their own destruction, so do these men enter Your mouths
hastily own destruction.

|| 11.30 ||
 लेलिह्यसे ग्रसमानः समन्तात् लोकान्समग्रान् वदनै: ज्वलद्भिः।
तेजोभिरापूर्य जगत्समग्रं भासस्तवोग्राः प्रतपन्ति विष्णो।।
le:lihyase: grasama:nas sama:ntha:th lo:ka:n samagra:n vadanair jvaladbhihi |
the:jo:bhir a:pu:rya jagath samagram bha:sas thavo:gra:h prathapanthi vishno: ! ||

O Vishnu! Swallowing all the men with Your blazing mouths You are licking Your lips over and over. Your
fierce rays are spreading over the whole universe with their splendor and are scorching it.

|| 11.31 ||
आख्याहि मे को भवानुग्र रूपो नमोऽस्तु ते देववर प्रसीद।
विज्ञातुम् इच्छामि भवन्तमाद्यं न हि प्रजानामि तव प्रवृत्तिम्।।
a:khya:hi me: ko: bhava: nugra ru:po: namo::sthu the: de:vavara! prasi:da |
vijna:thum ichcha:mi bhavanthama:dyam na hi praja:na:mi thava pravrutthim ||

O Krishna! Who are you who possessed such a fierce form? I wish to know you who is the primeval I do not
understand Your disposition. Salutation to You! O Supreme God! Be kind!

|| 11.32 ||
श्री भगवानुवाच
कालोऽस्मि लोक क्षयकृत् प्रवृद्धो लोकान् समाहर्तुम् इह प्रवृत्तः।
ऋतेऽपि त्वां न भविष्यन्ति सर्वे येऽवस्थिताः प्रत्यनीकेषु योधाः।।
Sri Bhagavan uva:cha
ka:lo::smi lo:ka kshaya kruth pravruddhaha lo:ka:n sama:harthum iha pravruththaha |
 ruthe:: pi thva: na bhavishyanthi sarve: ye::vastthitha:h prathyani:ke:shu yo:dha:ha ||

The Lord said:

I am the reckoner - Time - causing the destruction of the world. Augmented, I am here with a disposition to
oppose and destroy the royal community. All these warriors arrayed in the enemy armies shall not live even
without your endeavor.
|| 11.33 ||
तस्मात्त्वम् उत्तिष्ठ यशो लभस्व जित्वा शत्रून् भुङ्क्ष्व राज्यं समृद्धम्।
मयैवैते निहताः पूर्वमेव निमित्तमात्रं भव सव्यसाचिन्।।
thasmaththvam uththishtta yaso: labhasva jithva: sathru:n bhunkshva ra:jyam samruddham |
mayai vaithe: nihathah pu:rvame:va nimiththa ma:thram bhava savyasa:chin ! ||

O Arjuna! Therefore, you do arise, conquering the enemies win fame and enjoy a prosperous kingdom. Indeed,
all these have been killed by Me already. You be only a contrivance.

|| 11.34 ||
द्रोणं च भीष्मं च जयद्रथं च कर्णं तथाऽन्यानपि योधवीरान्।
मया हतांस्त्वं जहि मा व्यथिष्ठा युध्यस्व जेतासि रणे सपत्नान्।।
dro:nam cha bhi:shmam cha jayadradham cha karnam thattha::nya:napi yo:dha vi:ra:n |
maya: hatha:ms thvam jahi ma: vyadhishtta:ha yuddhyasva je:tha:si rane: sapathna:n ||
You slay Drona, Bhisma, Jayadratha, Karna and other valorous warriors who are already killed by Me. Be not
distressed. You do fight. You will be victorious over the enemies in the war.

|| 11.35 ||
सञ्जय उवाच
एतच्छ्रुत्वा वचनं केशवस्य कृताञ्जलि: वेपमानः किरीटी।
नमस्कृत्वा भूय एवाह कृष्णं सगद्गदं भीतभीतः प्रणम्य।।
Sanjaya uva:cha
e:thach chruthva: vachanam ke:savasya krutha:njalir ve:pama:nah kiri:ti: |
namaskruthva: bhu:ya e:va:ha krushnam sagadgadam bhi:thabhi:thah pranamya ||

Hearing the dictum of Sri Krishna. Arjuna prostrated before Him and overcome by great fear, he once again
bowed to Him and with folded hands spoke to Sri Krishna trembling and in a faltering voice.

|| 11.36 ||
अर्जुन उवाच
स्थाने हृषीकेश तव प्रकीर्त्या जगत् प्रहृष्यति अनुरज्यते च।
रक्षांसि भीतानि दिशो द्रवन्ति सर्वे नमस्यन्ति च सिद्धसङ्घाः।।
Arjuna uva:cha
sttha:ne: hruhi:ke:sa! thava praki:rthya: jagath prahrushyath yanurajyathe: cha |
raksha:msi bhi:tha:ni diso: dravanthi sarve: namasyanthi cha siddha sangha:ha ||

Arjuna said :
O Krishna! It is appropriate that the world rejoices at Your Glories and is fond of praising You. Terrified
Rakshasas flee in all directions and all the hosts of Siddhas bow to You.
 || 11.37 ||
कस्माच्च ते न नमेरन् महात्मन् गरीयसे ब्रह्मणोपि आदिकर्त्रे।
अनन्त देवेश जगन्निवास त्वमक्षरं सदसत्तत्परं यत्।।
kasmachcha the: na name:ran maha:thman! gari:yase: brahmano::pya:dikarthre: |
anantha! de:ve:sa ! jaganniva:sa ! thvam aksharam sadasath thathparam yath ||

O! Mahatma! Why should they not bow to You who is great and who is the primeval cause even of Brahma. O!
Infinite one! O! The Lord of the Gods! O! the Abode of the Universe! You are the imperishable individual self
the effect and cause called the Prakriti and the Emancipated Self which is distinct from these two.

|| 11.38 ||
त्वमादिदेवः पुरुषः पुराण: त्वमस्य विश्वस्य परं निधानम्।
वेत्तासि वेद्यं च परं च धाम त्वया ततं विश्वमनन्तरूप।।

thvam adide:vah purushah pura:naha thvamasya visvasya param nidha:nam |

ve:ththa::si ve:dyam cha param cha dha:ma thvaya: thatham visvam anantha ru:pa! ||

You are the primeval God and the Ancient Purusha; You are the Supreme Prop of this Universe, You are the
Knower and knowable and the Supreme goal. O Omniform! This Universe is pervaded by You.

|| 11.39 ||
 वायुर्यमोऽग्नि: वरुणः शशाङ्कः प्रजापतिस्त्वं प्रपितामहश्च।
नमो नमस्तेऽस्तु सहस्रकृत्वः पुनश्च भूयोऽपि नमो नमस्ते।।
va:yu ryamo:: gnir varunas sasa:nkaha praja:pathis thvam prapitha:mahas cha |
namo: namasthe:sthu sahasra kruthvaha punascha bhu:yo::pi namo: namasthe: ||

You are the Vayu, Yama, Agni, Varuna, the Moon, the Brahma and the Great-grand Sire. Salutations, to You a
thousand times! Yet again and again salutation to You!

|| 11.40 ||
नमः पुरस्तात् अथ पृष्ठतस्ते नमोऽस्तु ते सर्वत एव सर्व।
अनन्त वीर्य अमितविक्रमस्त्वं सर्वं समाप्नोषि ततोऽसि सर्वः।।
namah purasthad attha prushtathas the: namo::sthu the: sarvatha e:va sarva! |
anantha vi:rya:mitha vikramas thvam sarvam sama:pno:shi thatho::si sarvaha ||

Salutation to You in the front. Salutation to you in the rear. O Omnipresent! Salutation to you from all sides.
You are omnipotent and You are of unsurpassable valor. You pervade all; therefore, You are all.

|| 11.41 ||
सखेति मत्वा प्रसभं यदुक्तं हे कृष्ण हे यादव हे सखेति।
अजानता महिमानं तवेदं मया प्रमादात् प्रणयेन वापि।।
 sakhe:thi mathva: prasabham yaduktham he: krushna! he: ya:dava! he: sakhe:thi |
aja:natha: mahima:nam thave:mam maya: prama:da:th pranaye:na va:pi ||

Not knowing this greatness of Yours, out of inadvertence and affection, looking upon You as a friend whatever
has been impolitely said by me as 'O Krishna! O! Yadava! O! Friend!'

|| 11.42 ||
यच्चावहासार्थम् असत्कृतोऽसि विहार शय्यासन भोजनेषु।
एकोऽथवापि अच्युत तत्समक्षं तत्क्षामये त्वामहम् अप्रमेयम्।।
yachcha:paha:sa:rtham asathkrutho::si viha:ra sayya:sana bho:jane:shu |
e:ko::tthava:p yachyutha thathsamaksham thath ksha:maye: thva:m aham aprame:yam ||

O! Achyuta!, Whatever disrespect has been shown to You for jest while at play, reposing, sitting or at meals,
whether alone or in company - for that - O! Inconceivable! I implore to forgive me.

|| 11.43 ||
पितासि लोकस्य चराचरस्य त्वमस्य पूज्यश्च गुरुर्गरीयान्।
न त्वत् समोऽस्त्यभ्यधिकः कुतोऽन्यो लोकत्रयोपि अप्रतिमप्रभाव।।
pitha:si lo:kasya chara:charasya thvamasya pu:jyascha gurur gari:ya:n |
na thvath samo::sthyabh yadhikah kutho::nyaha lo:kathraye::pya prathima prabha:va ! ||
O Lord with-all surpassed Glory! You are the Progenitor and preceptor of this world of moving and unmoving
beings and so you are the most venerable. When there is none who is equal to You in the three worlds how can
there be one who can excel You?

|| 11.44 ||
तस्मात्प्रणम्य प्रणिधाय कायं प्रसादये त्वामहम् इीशमीड्यम्।
पितेव पुत्रस्य सखेव सख्युः प्रियः प्रियायार्हसि देव सोढुम्।।
thasmath pranamya pranidha:ya ka:yam prasa:daye: thva:m aham i:sami:dyam |
pithe:va puthrasya sakhe:va sakhyuhu priyah priya: ya:rhasi de:va! so:ddum ||

Therefore, I bow to You, prostrating my body, O Omni! O! Praiseworthy! I beseech Your Grace! O! Lord! It is
proper You who is dear to me should bear with me who am dear to You as a father with his son and as a friend
with his friend.

|| 11.45 ||
अदृष्टपूर्वं हृषितोऽस्मि दृष्ट्वा भयेन च प्रव्यथितं मनो मे।
तदेव मे दर्शय देव रूपं प्रसीद देवेश जगन्निवास।।
adrushta pu:rvam hrushitho::smi drushtva: bhaye:na cha pravyadhitham mano: me: |
thade:va me: darsaya de:va! ru:pam prasi:da de:ve:sa ! jaganniva:sa ! ||
 I rejoice having seen what was never seen before, but my mind is confounded with fear. Show Me only that
serene form of Yours. Have Mercy! O Lord of the Gods! O! the Abode of the Universe!

|| 11.46 ||
किरीटिनं गदिनं चक्रहस्तम् इच्छामि त्वां द्रष्टुमहं तथैव।
तेनैव रूपेण चतुर्भुजेन सहस्रबाहो भव विश्वमूर्ते।।
kiri:tinam gadinam chakrahastham ichcha:mi thva:m drashtum aham thatthaiva |
the:naiva ru:pe:na chathurbhuje:na sahasra baho: ! bhava visva mu:rthe: ! ||

O! Thousand armed! O! Omniform! I desire to see You as before Wearing a crown, bearing a mace and holding
the discus in Your hand. Therefore, assume the gentle form with four arms.

|| 11.47 ||
श्री भगवानुवाच
मया प्रसन्नेन तवार्जुनेदं रूपं परं दर्शितम् आत्मयोगात्।
तेजोमयं विश्वम् अनन्तमाद्यं यन्मे त्वदन्येन न दृष्टपूर्वम्।।
Sri Bhagava:n uva:cha
maya: prasanne:na thava:rjune:dam ru:pam param darsitham a:thmayo:ga:th |
the:jo:mayam visvam anantham a:dyam yanme: thvadanye:na na drushtapu:rvam ||
 The Lord said :
O Arjuna! I have shown you this Supreme form of Mine of My volition - out of mercy for you, which is
Resplendent, Universal, Infinite, Primeval and not seen before by anyone else other than you.

|| 11.48 ||
न वेद यज्ञाध्ययनै: न दानै: न च क्रियाभि: न तपोभिरुग्रैः।
एवंरूपः शक्य अहं नृलोके द्रष्टुं त्वदन्येन कुरुप्रवीर।।

na ve:da yajna:dhyayanair na da:nair na cha kriya:bhir na thapo:bhir ugraihi |

e:vam ru:pas sakya aham nrulo:ke: drashtum thvad anye:na kurupravi:ra ! ||

O! Arjuna! Neither by the study of the Vedas, nor by the Yagnas; nor by the recitals of the sacred scripture, nor
by sacred rituals, nor by bestowing bounties, nor by severe penances can this form of Mine - be seen in this
mortal world by anyone else other than you.

|| 11.49 ||
मा ते व्यथा मा च विमूढभावो दृष्ट्वा रूपं घोरमीदृक् ममेदम्।
व्यपेतभीः प्रीतमनाः पुनस्त्वं तदेव मे रूपमिदं प्रपश्य।।

ma: the: vyattha: ma: cha vimu:dda bha:vo: drushtva: ru:pam gho:ram i:drunjmam e:dam |
vyape:thabhi:hi pri:tha mana:h punasthvam thade:va me: ru:pam idam prapasya ||

Be not afraid nor stupefied on seeing this terrible form of Mine. Get rid of fear and be pleased in mind; see here
again, that very same mild form of Mine.
 || 11.50 ||
सञ्जय उवाच
इत्यर्जुनं वासुदेव: तथोक्त्वा स्वकं रूपं दर्शयामास भूयः।
आश्वासयामास च भीतमेनं भूत्वा पुनः सौम्य वपुर्महात्मा।।
Sanjaya uva:cha
ithyarjunam va:sude:vas thattho:kthva: svakam ru:pam darsaya:ma:sa bhu:yaha |
a:sva:saya:ma:sa cha bhi:tha me:nam bhu:thva: punas saumyavapur maha:thma: ||

Sanjaya said :
Having spoken thus to Arjuna, Sri Krishna showed him again His own form. The Mahatma resuming His gentle
form comforted him who was terrified.
|| 11.51 ||
अर्जुन उवाच
दृष्ट्वेदं मानुषं रूपं तवसौम्यं जनार्दन।
इदानीमस्मि संवृत्तः सचेताः प्रकृतिं गतः।।
Arjuna uva:cha
drushtve:dam ma:nusham ru:pam thava saumyam jana:rdana! |
ida:ni:m asmi samvruththas sache:tha:h prakruthim gathaha ||

Arjuna said :
O Krishna! Having seen this human and benign form of Yours I have now become composed and restored to my
own perseity.
 || 11.52 ||
श्री भगवानुवाच
सुदुर्दर्शम् इदं रूपं दृष्टवानसि यन्मम।
देवा अप्यस्य रूपस्य नित्यं दर्शन काङ्क्षिणः।।
Sri: Bhagava:n uva:cha
sudurdarsam idam ru:pam drushtava:nasi yanmama |
de:va: apyasya ru:pasya nithyam darsana ka:nkshinaha ||

The Lord said :

Indeed, it is impossible to see this form of Mine which You have seen. Even the gods are always eager to see this
form.

|| 11.53 ||
नाहं वेदै: न तपसा न दानेन न चेज्यया।
शक्य एवं विधो द्रष्टुं दृष्टवानसि मां यथा।।
na:ham ve:dair na thapasa: na da:ne:na na che:jyaya: |
sakya e:vam vidho: drashtum drushta va:nasi ma:m yattha: ||

Neither by reciting the Vedas, nor by austerity, nor by the bestowal of bounties, nor by performing sacrifices can
I be seen as you have seen Me.
 || 11.54 ||
भक्त्या त्वनन्यया शक्यमहमेवंविधोऽर्जुन।
ज्ञातुं दृष्टुं च तत्त्वेन प्रवेष्टुं च परंतप।।
bhakthya: thvananyaya: sakya ahame:vamvidho::rjuna |
jna:thum drashtum cha thaththve:na prave:stum cha paranthapa! ||

O Arjuna! I, who am of this nature is possible to be comprehended veritably, to perceive visibly and to attain
wholly through un-desirous exclusive devotion.

|| 11.55 ||
मत्कर्मकृत् मत्परमो मद्भक्तः सङ्ग वर्जितः।
निर्वैरः सर्वभूतेषु यः स मामेति पाण्डव।।
mathkarma kruth math paramo: madbhakthas sangavarjithaha |
nirvairas sarvabhu:the:shu yassa ma:me:thi pa:ndava ! ||

O Arjuna He who does his duties as My worship, who holds Me to be his Supreme goal, who is devoted to Me,
who is free from attachment, who is devoid of hatred for all beings - attains Me.
