• Aim- To understand and follow the essential safety precautions,

general instructions required for performing practical’s
efficiently and safely.
(i)- Read the Experiment Carefully- Understand the aim, theory, and
steps before coming to the lab.
(ii)- Bring Necessary Materials- Carry your lab coat, lab manual, and
notebook, etc.
(iii)-Wear Proper Safety Gear- Always wear a lab coat, gloves, safety
goggles, a properly fitting mask and closed shoes.
(iv)- Know Your Chemicals and Tools- Be familiar with the names,
symbols, hazards, and uses of chemicals and apparatus.
(v)- Follow Teacher's Instructions- Never perform an unauthorized
experiment or mix unknown chemicals.

(vi)- Handle Equipment Carefully- Use pipettes, burettes, balances,

and glassware properly and gently.

(vii)- Maintain Cleanliness- Keep your work area clean. Wash and
return all glassware after use.

(viii)- Record Observations Neatly- Note all colour changes, gas

evolution, or temperature changes during the experiment.

(ix)- Dispose Chemicals Safely- Follow proper disposal methods; do

not pour anything into the sink without permission.

(x)- First Aid- Be aware of the first aid kit, in case of an acid or base
spills on your skin during an experiment, immediately wash the
affected area with plenty of cold running water for at least 15 minutes.

If a chemical burn or irritation occurs, report to the teacher or lab

supervisor and seek attention immediately.
