methods, and summarizes the research finding/content with its usefulness to various
communities. For example:
This paper/article/study/research discusses/investigates……using SLR/Interview/Survey. The
primary findings are……which would be helpful for….

research problem). For example, explore extensive research topics with evidence rich
awareness of the research problems indicating intense interest in the area.

discuss the existing research within the problem area (other’s work). Who else has studied
this problem? And what were their findings? How are these studies related to the problem
domain?
(b) To demonstrate the novelty of your research, discuss what the research gap still exists in the
research domain is to consider?

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
(a) Selection of Data Collection Method:
 Elaborate the selection of your data collection/analysis method and tools that are
completely and accurately relevant, making the analysis easy to reproduce.
 Provide a description of why you select interview/survey/literature review instead of
other available data collection techniques with some strong arguments. Describe how the
selected methods/tools are highly appropriate for this type of research and are directly
linked to the purpose and research questions.

(b) Description of the Data Collection Method: Elaborately discuss the step-by-step process of
your data collection and analysis method (if necessary, design and add relevant figures to
demonstrate the process).

For Systematic Literature Review (SLR):

(i) Database-Publisher: What databases have you searched for to find relevant literature
(e.g., publisher database).
(ii) Search Engine: To consider all sources of literature rather than concentrate only reputed
journals and conferences employ Google Scholar search engine that includes all the
underlying libraries/databases in the search process to find any missing literature in the
database search and also explore any other sources of literature for relevant the research
topic.
(iii) Keywords: What keywords have you used in your database searching with AND-OR-
NOT Boolean logic?
(iv)Search Scope: Where did you search in the literature (e.g. title, abstract, full text, etc.)
(v) Publication Duration: What is the time frame of your literature searching (e.g., last
five/ten years).
(vi)Backward Search: Review the reference list of your selected literature to find any
literature that are also related to your research topic and might give information to answer
your RQs. How many literatures you’ve identified following backward search technique.
(vii) Forward Search: Review the “Cited By” link using Google Scholar to identify the
literature those are cited your selected literature to find any literature that are also related to
your research topic and might give information to answer your RQs. How many literatures
you’ve identified following forward search technique.
(viii) Author’s Citation Index: Discuss How did you search literature using author’s citation
index techniques (e.g., DBLP, Google Scholar, etc.). How many literatures you’ve
identified following author’s citation index searching technique.
(ix)Literature Selection: What was the number of literatures you’ve initially and finally
selected? How did you analyze the final selected literature to extract data to answer your
research question?
(x) Inclusion-Exclusion: What is the inclusion/exclusion criteria you’ve followed to finalize
your literature selection? For example:
 Language: English
 Publication Year: Time frame of the publication (if applicable)
 Version: Multiple publications (different version)
 Literatures Scope: Provide information to answer your research question(s)
 Peer-Review: All research studies must be peer-reviewed

(xi) Literature Quality Assessment: How did you assess the quality of your literature
selection? For quality assessment, the following indicators may consider discussing in this
section:
 Quality assessment of the final selected literature:
- Article published in ISI/Scopus indexed journal/conferences.
- Number of citations of the included literature
 Completeness of the Literature Review:
- Crossmatch with the findings from similar studies following SLR.

For Interview/Survey:

o Explain how did you generate interview/survey questions (Structured, Unstructured, and
Semi-structured questionaries)?
o Open-ended (Unstructured) questionnaire is commonly used in Interview and Close-ended
(Structured) questionnaire is commonly used in Survey data collection process.
o What are the questions you’ve asked in interview/survey?
o How did you conduct an interview or survey (e.g., online, offline)?
o Who are the respondents to answer your questions? How did you select them? What is the
total number of respondents?
o How did you analyze the data to present your findings (e.g., field notes, checklist, electronic
recorder, etc.)?
(i) Survey Design:
(ii) Participant Recruitment:
(iii) Survey Distribution:
(iv) Data Analysis:

Guidelines for Interview/Survey Questionnaire:

 Provide answer options that cover the full set of possible responses (open & closed question)
 Make answer choices both mutually exclusive (no overlaps in numerical ranges, 1-5 &5-10)
 Don’t phrase a question in a way that implies a “correct” answer
 If you use scales, use them consistently throughout the questionnaire (e.g., 1-9)
 Consider consulting with an expert in questionnaire design and administration to ensure that
you ask the right questions of the right people
 Always test a questionnaire before distributing it. It’s frustrating to discover too late that a
question was phrased ambiguously or to realize that an important question was omitted
 Don’t ask too many questions or people won’t respond.

(c) Professional codes of ethics and standard: The research elaborately demonstrates
professional codes of ethics and standard in conducting research considering public safety;

the impacts of engineering activity; economic, social, cultural, environmental and
sustainability.

o Provide a description that convincingly and accurately frames the ethical issues and parses it
into sub‐problems, providing justification. Also suggest detailed and viable approaches to
resolve the Ethical Issues. Provide a description about how did you delt with these above-
mentioned ethical issues in your research.

o Some examples of Ethical issues for SLR are given below:

- Is there any biasness may occur in your data collection process of selecting the
course of literature.
- Discuss how your research data is realistic and does not have any misconduct in
it.
- Discuss the accuracy of your data to present your analysis (Falsification or
fabrication of data/citation/references, plagiarism, conflict of interest, etc.)

o Some examples of Ethical issues related to SURVEY/INTERVIEW are given below:

(a) Ethical Concern: Participants must be fully informed about the purpose of the
survey/research, the nature of their involvement, how the data will be used, and any
potential risks.
Best Practice: Provide a clear, accessible consent form; allow participants to withdraw at
any time without penalty.

(b) Ethical Concern: Survey responses often include personal or sensitive information.
Inadequate protection of data can lead to breaches of confidentiality, harming participants
or compromising their anonymity.
Best Practice: Anonymize or pseudonymize data where possible, use secure data storage
systems, and limit access to authorized personnel.

(c) Ethical Concern: Participants should take part in surveys voluntarily, without pressure
or undue influence. Offering excessive incentives or using authority (e.g., employer-
employee dynamics) can pressure individuals into participation.
Best Practice: Avoid pressure tactics and make it clear that participation is optional.

(d) Ethical Concern: Researchers may face pressure to manipulate data or misreport
findings.
Best Practice: Upholding honesty and transparency is critical to maintaining ethical
standards in research.
