Task Info
In this section information about the task, its structure, and stimuli will be given.
Task Description
heVerbal Fluency Testmeasures verbal fluency. Specifically, the semantic version of this
T
task is used, involving the naming of animals. During the task, participants are asked to
generate as many different examples of a specific semantic category (in this case,
animals) within a limited timeframe.
The concept of this task is based on the F-A-S Test (Spreen & Benton, 1977).

Cognitive skills measured
he primary cognitive abilities measured by this task are Verbal Fluency, Semantic
T
Memory,Lexical Retrieval,Executive functioning,andLanguage Production.

Task Structure
The task is divided into 1 learning phase and 1 testing phase:
Phase Duration Category
Learning 8 seconds Fruits
Testing 60 seconds Animals
Task Stimuli
The instructions will be displayed on the screen, and the "Start" button will be displayed.
nce the start button is pressed, a countdown and a gray microphone icon will be
O
displayed.
hen the countdown ends, the color of the microphone icon turns red, with a bar that fills
W
up as the time to respond expires. The word "Recording" and the requested word category
are displayed on the screen.
nce the time has elapsed, the text "Processing" appears and a message indicating that
O
the process may take a few minutes will be displayed.
nce the information has been processed, the recognized words will be displayed. The
O
words in red will be those that do not correspond to the requested category. The words in
yellow will be those that have been repeated or are not considered different from the
others already spoken. The words in green will be those valid words of the category that
have been said for the first time.

Variables Info
In this section details about the variables, their definition, range, and other pieces of
relevant information will be given.
Basic Variables
Correct Responses
his variable measures the total number of valid examples (animals) generated by the
T
test-taker within the given time limit. The lowest value is 0 and higher values indicate better
performance. It reflects the overall productivity in retrieving words from semantic memory.
Repetitions
his variable measures the total number of times that valid words have been repeated
T
within the response set. The lowest value is 0 and lower values indicate better
performance. This variable helps identify perseveration errors.
Intrusions
his variable measures the total number of times that words that do not belong to the
T
given semantic category (e.g., naming a non-animal object) have been produced. The
lowest value is 0 and lower values indicate better performance. This variable helps identify
the ability to inhibit unrelated responses.
Inter-Response Interval
his variable measures the average time (in milliseconds) elapsed between the end of one
T
response and the beginning of the next response. Shorter values indicate better
performance. Longer intervals may suggest pauses or hesitations between naming
animals.
First Response Onset Time
his variable measures the time (in milliseconds) elapsed between the beginning of the
T
test and the onset of the first correct response. Shorter values indicate better performance,
better lexical access and higher vocabulary rates.
Correct Responses in First half
his variable measures the total number of valid examples (animals) generated by the
T
test-taker from the onset of the test to the 30th second. The lowest value is 0 and higher
values indicate better performance.
Correct Responses in Second half
his variable measures the total number of valid examples (animals) generated by the
T
test-taker from the 30th second to the end of the test. The lowest value is 0 and higher
values indicate better performance.

Additional Variables
Time speaking (percentage)
This variable measures the percentage of the time when the user spoke during the task.
Time silent (percentage)
his variable measures the percentage of the time when the user remained silent during
T
the task.

Validity Index
he user's performance will be considered to deviate from what is expected to the point of
T
invalidating the results of the assessment when it falls outside these ranges.
Task Validity
his variable represents the validity ofthewholetask,anditis‘true’whenthereare2or
T
more valid examples (animals). Otherwise, it is ‘false’.
