ADELE by Novel Reed

Adele is a top down peplum sweater with a simple lace pattern on the yoke and
sleeves. I named this sweater Adele after the amazing singer who just released the song
“Hello” and I can’t stop listening to it.
MATERIALS

Berroco Comfort in the color Sprig 680 (880, 1080, 1280, 1480, 1680) yards

Four size 7 (4.5 mm) double pointed needles (size XS-M only)

One size 7 (4.5 mm) 16 inch circular needle

One size 7 (4.5 mm) 32 inch circular needle

4 stitch markers

Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

GAUGE

17 stitches X 22 rows = 4 X 4 inches in stockinette stitch

SIZING

This sweater can be knit in size XS (S, M, L, XL, XXL). This sweater was designed to have a
close fit. To figure out the best size for you consult the Craft Yarn Council woman size
charts.

XS- 32 inch bust

S- 36 inch bust

M- 40 inch bust

L- 44 inch bust

XL- 48 inch bust

XXL- 52 inch bust

ABBREVIATIONS

PM- place marker

SM- slip marker

YO- yarn over

K2TOG- Knit two stitches together.


SSK- Slip the next 2 stitches, one at a time as if to knit, to the right needle. Insert the left
needle into the fronts of these two stitches and knit them together.

DD- Slip two together as if to knit, knit one, pass both slipped stitches over knit stitch and
drop it off of needle.

KFB- knit front and back.

PATTERN

Cast on 92 stitches. PM, join in the round being careful not to twist stitches. Work one
inch of K1, P1, ribbing.

MARKER SETUP ROUND

K35, PM, K11, PM, K35, PM, K11.

INCREASE ROUNDS

Charts are worked from right to left with repeats highlighted in pink.

SLEEVE SEPARATION ROUND

Knit to next marker, remove marker, place all stitches from here to next marker on a
stitch holder, SM, Knit to next marker, remove marker, place all stitches from here to
beginning of round marker on a stitch holder, SM.

BODY ROUNDS

Knit around for 6 (8, 10, 12, 14, 16) rounds.

Round 1. K1, K2tog, knit to 3 stitches before next marker, SSK, K1, SM, K1, K2tog, knit to 3
stitches before end of round, SSK, K1.
Rounds 2-9. Knit around.

Repeat rounds 1-9 four additional times.

Round 10. KFB of every stitch.

Round 11. *K1, P1* repeat from *to* around.

Repeat round 11 until ribbing measures. 3 ½ (4, 4 ½ , 5, 5 ½ , 6) inches.

SLEEVES

Repeat these directions for both sleeves.

Using 16 inch size 7 circular needle (if knitting size XS-M use double pointed needles),
pick up three stitches from armpit area. Starting from your left and working around to
your right place all the stitches on your stitch holder onto your needle. Slip one stitch
purlwise (that was the first armpit stitch), place marker.

Charts are worked from right to left with repeats highlighted in pink.

Work chart C from round 1-45 odd. Rounds 2-46 even, knit around.

Work rounds 43-46: 5 (6, 7, 8, 9, 10) additional times.

Round 47. *K5 (7, 9, 11, 13, 15) K2tog* repeat from *to* around.

Work one inch of K1, P1, ribbing. Bind off in pattern.
