1. Why is adaptation important for animals to survive?
Ans: Adaptation is important for animals to survive in better way as it allow them to fit better in
environment by finding food, shelter and also to reproduce their young ones. It helps them to protect
themselves from enemies. Adaptation is very important for life to continue because those who can not
adopt to the changing environment, they die and slowly extinct.
2. Explain the adaptation found in aquatic animals?
Ans: The aquatic animals like Fish, Octopus , Seahorse have the following adaptive features that help
them to live in water. The adaptive features are-
Aquatic animals have a streamlined or spindle-shaped body that helps them to move through
water easily.
Most of them have fins or limbs that help them to swim in water.
Aquatic birds like duck and geese have webbed feet which act as paddles that help them to push
water back and move forward while swimming.
Fish have gills to breathe inside water. Whereas, some aquatic animals like whales and dolphins
have lungs to breathe.
3. How have amphibians adapted themselves? Discuss
Ans: Amphibians are the animals that live both on land and in water. Frogs and toads are some examples
of amphibians. They have the following adaptations to live both on land and in water.
Frogs and toads have webbed feet that help them to swim or paddle in water.
Their back legs are stronger than their front legs that help them to jump and move on land.
They use their moist skin to breathe inside water and lungs to breathe on land.
Animals like turtles have shells that protect them from other animals.
4. How we can protect and take care of animals?
Ans: It is our duty to protect animals and we can do so by these steps-
Animals feel safe in their natural habitat. Therefore, we should be concerned to protect the
forests, which are home to many animals.
Avoid cutting trees as much as possible.
Animals should not be killed or captured for sports and other recreational activities.
Animals should not be killed for their body parts like leather or tusks. We should avoid using
products made from body parts of animals to save them.
We keep some animals as pets in our home and farm. We should take care of these animals in the
following ways.
Provide them with sufficient food and water.
Keep them in a comfortable and clean living condition.
Maintain their good health and hygiene.
Take them to a veterinary doctor when they fall sick. Get them vaccinated on time.
