4. A point X is on a circle below. By construction, locate the centre of the circle

14. A tailor makes two types of skirts: Type A and Type B. The total number of
skirts must not exceed 500. The number of Type B skirts must be at least as
many as Type A. At least 200 skirts of Type A must be made. Let x represent the
number of Type A skirts and y represent the number of Type B skirts. Write the

15. An athlete runs a distance of 100 meters measured to the nearest 10

17. Two painters, Alice and Bob, are hired to paint a house. Alice can paint the
entire house in 12 hours working alone, while Bob can paint it in 18 hours. They
start painting together, but after 4 hours, Bob leaves due to an emergency.

a) Determine the fraction of the house that remains unpainted after the initial 4
hours when both painters work together.

b) Alice continues alone to finish the job. Calculate the time it takes Alice to
complete the remaining painting alone.

c) The total payment for the job is Ksh 36,000, shared between Alice and Bob
based on the proportion of work each completed. Find the amount of money
each painter receives based on their contribution to the work.

d) If Bob’s painting rate could be increased by 50%, how long would it take both
painters working together to complete the entire house from the start?

(a) Wambui’s initial annual payment is Ksh 120,000, and in the 10th year, her
payment is Ksh 192,000. Calculate:
i. The annual payment increment. (2 marks)

ii. The total amount Wambui pays over the 10 years. (2

(b)Kimani’s initial annual payment is Ksh 100,000, with each payment increasing
by a 4% compound rate annually. Calculate:
