Preparing the Assignment
Follow these guidelines when completing each component of the assignment. Contact your course faculty if you have
questions.
General Instructions
Select one type of trauma to discuss in the presentation from the list below or choose a type of trauma that is not listed
with faculty approval. Topics include trauma related to one of the following:
Types of Trauma
Trauma related to COVID-19 Trauma associated with being a first responder or involved
in combat.
Trauma-related to a natural or manmade Trauma associated with being a refugee.
disaster
Trauma associated with sexual assault. Trauma associated with being a victim of racism or
discrimination.
Trauma associated with being a victim of a Trauma associated with witnessing a terrorist attack.
violent crime.
Trauma associated with spiritual or religious Trauma associated with a serious medical event.
abuse.
Create a PowerPoint presentation and address the following requirements:
1. Use Microsoft PowerPoint to create the presentation. Submit the presentation as a .ppt or .pptx file to the Week 7
Dropbox.
2. The presentation should total 10-18 slides (excluding title and reference slides).
3. Create slides that are professional in appearance and tone and balanced spatially including words and graphics.
4. Follow APA rules for grammar, spelling, word usage, and punctuation consistent with formal, scholarly writing.
5. Include speaker notes for all slides except the title and reference slides. Use complete sentences.
6. Include in-text citations in APA format when applicable. Use the Notes Page view feature in PowerPoint to include
speaker notes.
7. Abide by Chamberlain University's academic integrity policy.
Include the following sections:

2. Introduction (1 slide): Identify concepts to be addressed and sections of the presentation. Include speaker notes that
explain, in more detail, what will be covered.
3. Nature and prevalence (1-2 slides): Describe the nature and prevalence of the selected trauma. Provide in-text citations
from a scholarly source. Include speaker notes to explain content in detail.
4. Symptoms (1-2 slides): Discuss trauma symptoms commonly experienced by survivors of the selected trauma. Provide
in-text citations from a scholarly source. Include speaker notes to explain content in detail.
5. Scenario (2-4 slides): Create a client scenario based on the selected trauma. Provide demographic information about the
client. Provide a description of the trauma experienced. Provide the symptoms the client is experiencing because of the
trauma. Provide in-text citations from a scholarly source. Include speaker’s notes that explain the slide content in more
detail, a description of the trauma experienced, and the symptoms the client is experiencing because of the trauma.
6. Psychotherapy (2-3 slides): Describe two psychotherapeutic approaches that could be used to treat the client in the
scenario provided. Describe therapeutic techniques used with each approach. Provide in-text citations from a scholarly
source. Include speaker notes to explain content in detail.
7. Psychopharmacology (1-3 slides): Discuss whether the PMHNP would recommend psychopharmacologic intervention
for the client. If medication is recommended, describe the medication and appropriate follow-up. Provide in-text citations
from a scholarly source. Include speaker notes to explain content in detail.
8. Collaboration (1-2 slides): Discuss whether the PMHNP would collaborate with any other disciplines or professionals in
the treatment of the client. If collaboration is recommended or legally/ethically required, describe the other types of
providers who may be involved. Provide in-text citations from a scholarly source. If collaboration is legally required, may
use state scope of practice guidelines to support ideas. Include speaker notes to explain the content in detail.
9. Conclusion (1 slide): Summarize the content of the presentation. Speaker notes should provide final comments on the
topic.
10. References (1+ slides): Provide references in APA format. May use bullets. Hanging indents are not required.
Submitting Work to Turnitin
This assignment will be uploaded automatically to Turnitin upon submission to verify this is your original work. The
directions to submit your assignment are:
1. Click the orange Start Assignment button at the top of the page to open the upload window.
2. Under the File Upload tab, click on Upload File to select the assignment file you want to upload.
