5 Daily Routines

That Everyone
Should Have
In Their Life:

Written by Colby Kultgen

Before we start.

Here are my 3 golden rules of routines:

1. The best routine is the one you

can stick with consistently.

2. The best routine for me isn’t

necessarily the best one for you.

3. The best routine evolves with you.

Ok, let’s dive in.

1. A Morning Routine
The best morning routine is the one
that sets you up to win the day.

Whatever that looks like for you.

It might include:
Exercise to wake your body up.
Quiet time to clear your head.
Planning your top priorities.
Or simply a slow cup of coffee.
2. An Exercise Routine
Live longer.
Feel better.
Think clearer.
Sleep deeper.
Stress less.

If exercise were a pill, it would be the

most widely prescribed medicine
in the world.

Find a form of it you don’t hate

and do it daily. Simple as that.
3. A Bedtime Routine
Sleep matters. A lot.

How you spend the 60 minutes before

bed will largely determine the quality
of your sleep.

Here’s what I do:

Dim the lights
Put my phone away
Make sure my room is cool (19°C)
Read a fiction book
4. A Focus Routine
Think of it like an athlete’s pre-game
ritual.

A "pre-focus" routine trains your

brain to switch into deep work mode.

Some effective cues:

A focus playlist
A designated work spot
A sensory trigger (candle, tea, etc.)
A few deep breaths
5. A Wind-Down Routine
Struggle to get out of “work mode”?

A wind-down routine can help create that

clear separation between work and life.

Try Cal Newport’s shutdown ritual:

Review tasks – Check off what you

finished, plan tomorrow’s priorities.
Scan for loose ends – Make sure
nothing urgent is left hanging.
Update your system – Capture
lingering thoughts in a notes app or
planner.
Say the magic words – Newport
literally says, “Shutdown complete.”
Repost this to help others
build healthy routines.
