🟦 3-MARK QUESTIONS (20 Questions)

🔹 Understanding Quadrilaterals

Q1. How many diagonals does a dodecagon have?

Answer:
Number of diagonals = n(n – 3)/2 = 12(12 – 3)/2 = 54

Q2. How many sides does a polygon have if the sum of its interior angles is 2340°?
Answer:
Sum of interior angles = (n – 2) × 180
2340 = (n – 2) × 180 ⇒ n = 15 sides

Q3. Which quadrilateral has both pairs of opposite sides and angles equal?
Answer:
Parallelogram

Q4. What is the sum of all exterior angles of any polygon?

Answer:
360°

Q5. A polygon has 7 diagonals. Find the number of sides.

Answer:
n(n – 3)/2 = 7 ⇒ n = 5

Q6. If each exterior angle of a regular polygon is 40°, find the number of sides.
Answer:
Number of sides = 360/40 = 9
Q7. A regular polygon has each interior angle of 150°. Find the number of sides.
Answer:
Each exterior angle = 180 – 150 = 30°
n = 360/30 = 12 sides

🔹 Squares and Square Roots

Q8. Find the least number to be added to 2430 to make it a perfect square.
Answer:
2430 → Next perfect square = 2457 ⇒ Least number = 27

Q9. Find the least number to be subtracted from 100 to get a perfect square.
Answer:
Next perfect square below 100 = 81 ⇒ 100 – 81 = 19

Q10. If a man saves ₹30 on Day 1, ₹32 on Day 2... up to Day 30, find total savings.
Answer:
This is an AP: a = 30, d = 2, n = 30
Sum = n/2 [2a + (n – 1)d] = 30/2[60 + 58] = ₹1770

Q11. Find the square of 529.

Answer:
Square of 529 = 279841

Q12. Show that square of an even number is even and square of odd is odd.
Answer:
Even² → Even (e.g., 4² = 16), Odd² → Odd (e.g., 5² = 25)

Q13. Find the square root of 136656.

Answer:
Square root = 369

Q14. The area of a square is 576 cm². Find its perimeter.

Answer:
Side = √576 = 24 cm ⇒ Perimeter = 4 × 24 = 96 cm
🔹 Cubes and Cube Roots

Q15. By what least number should 343 be multiplied to get a perfect cube?
Answer:
Prime factorization = 7³ ⇒ Already perfect cube ⇒ Multiply by 1

Q16. Cube has surface area 294 cm². Find edge of cube.
Answer:
6a² = 294 ⇒ a² = 49 ⇒ a = 7 cm

Q17. Find cube root of 4096.

Answer:
Cube root of 4096 = 16

Q18. Cube of 5 cm is cut into 125 equal cubes. Find edge of each cube.
Answer:
Side of small cube = ⁵√(5³/125) = 1 cm

Q19. Prove cube of an odd number is odd.

Answer:
Odd³ = Odd ⇒ e.g., 3³ = 27, 5³ = 125

Q20. Find least number to multiply 16 to make a perfect cube.

Answer:
Prime factors: 16 = 2⁴ ⇒ Multiply by 2 ⇒ 2⁵ = 32 is a perfect cube

🟩 5-MARK QUESTIONS (20 Questions)

🔹 Understanding Quadrilaterals

Q1. A polygon has 20 sides. Find sum of its interior and exterior angles.
Answer:
Interior = (20 – 2) × 180 = 3240°
Exterior = 360°
Q2. Each exterior angle of a regular polygon is 30°. Find number of sides and total interior
sum.
Answer:
Sides = 360/30 = 12
Interior sum = (12 – 2) × 180 = 1800°

Q3. Find number of diagonals in a polygon of 20 sides.

Answer:
n(n – 3)/2 = 20(17)/2 = 170 diagonals

Q4. List types of quadrilaterals and write 2 properties of each.

Answer:

 Parallelogram: Opp sides & angles equal

 Rectangle: All angles 90°, opp sides equal
 Rhombus: All sides equal, diagonals bisect at 90°
 Square: All sides =, all angles = 90°
 Trapezium: Only one pair of parallel sides

Q5. A polygon has each interior angle of 165°. Find number of sides.
Answer:
Exterior = 180 – 165 = 15° ⇒ Sides = 360/15 = 24

Q6. Prove sum of exterior angles of any polygon is 360°.

Answer:
True by definition; always 360° for any polygon
