HISTORY OF BAGUMBAYAN CENTRAL SCHOOL
IN THE BEGINNING
Between 1910 and 1911, a team of leading educators in Legazpi City
conducted extensive research to develop a school design enhanced by intensive
school support systems since it was proposed that barangay catchments must
have a school of its own, so that children will not be walking of great distance
just to learn. They investigated the land area, financial management systems
including the demands and how it will enhance the learning environment of the
school system. This effort brought together a wide range of cutting-edge
perspectives on how to improve education through the reform of curriculum,
school organization, and most other elements of public elementary education.
Bagumbayan Central School was established on October 10, 1911 with
just few teachers, BCS has continued to grow in every subsequent year. In
addition to operating schools in partnership with districts and charter boards,
BCS had diversified its educational offerings as well as achievement
managements services for school systems.
Bagumbayan Central School was known as Albay Central School Building
2, and the very site of the schools was the playground of the Albay Central
School Building 1 & 2. It was donated by the Aquende family and under the Tax
Declaration No. 0093, the site ownership was turned over to the Department of
Education Culture and Sports, Albay Division. The semi-trapezoidal land is 45,
264 sq.m.
Until then that the Bagumbayan Central School was named since it was
located in Capt. F. Aquende St., Bagumbayan, Legazpi City. Bagumbayan Central
School is at the center of Lots 543, 541, 544 and 545, Lots 1699 and 1701. South
of the School is the Sagumayon River (Gapo) and west is Capt. Aquende St.
In 1963, the very first building was built known as the Pre-Fabricated
Building. It was the start of new hopes and dream for the teachers and pupils of
Albay Central School 2. Many of these building was given during the time of
Ferdinand E. Marcos that’s why the Marcos Type School Building was the most
prominent one. From span to span, the site was totally landscaped with new
buildings to be used by the future scholars of the school. Side by side with the
Marcos Type School Building (MTSB) RP-US Bayanihan and Bagong Lipunan
School Building were constructed to meet the growing population of the school.
In 1990 the JICA Building was donated by Japan as an aid.

Over the past few years, BC has been providing a high-quality education for
children in schools and programs and communities across the barangay. Pupils
who attend at Bagumbayan Central School continue to make achievement gains
that far outpace district, division or even national averages. Now, it has Pre-
school classes to make the little angels ready for their new environment in grade
school. The dedicated and efficient teachers in these classes make sure that
these little ones will appreciate the school for better and will continue to enhance
their ability as they climb the next adder of learning.
Bagumbayan Central School has struggled for years. It has fallen several
time but managed to rise and fight again. Out of the ten schools in Albay District
II. Many changes have been done from 1963 to present in this school. Many kind-
hearted individuals have shared their blessings to the fortunate school. One of
these are the LAPUS Building given by Secretary Lapus in 2007 and DOLE
Building in the same year.
The supportive parents of the pupils continue to help maintain and upkeep
the schools through Brigada Eskwela. The pupils as well, participated in all
events just to uplift their alma mater. Although they were just a small voice in
the division but it does not mean that they never do anything just to get noticed.
From just eight teachers now, Bagumbayan Central School has 37 teaching and
non-teaching staffs that continue to share and upgrade the knowledge and skills
of pupils.
Moreover, every school head assigned in the school makes sure that a
better place has been made and a better individual has been molded into a fine
citizen of Bagumbayan Central School. It is with great pride that the school has
changed a lot since it is recorded in the norms
